Pasha Kovalev & Lauren Gottleib – Shane Sparks Hip Hop

My second favorite dance of the top 10. Pasha and Lauren really did an amazing job. Shane gave them a unique and interesting routine. I think Shane is at the top of that for Hip Hop. No doubts there. Shane Sparks rules hip hop choreography.

Back to Pasha and Lauren. I enjoyed them learning the dance and talking about being partners as much as the dance itself. Pasha and Lauren are going to be a really interesting couple. I just feel bad for Lauren that I don’t think Pasha has the same fan base as some of the others.

I love Cat’s comment: “The only way to travel.” Oh Cat.

Sabra Johnson and Kameron Bink Contemporary

Well, Kameron is gone, but I figured I’d give a little love to the budding Sabra Johnson. I still can’t believe how short of a time she’s been studying dance. I guess some people just get dance and Sabra is one of them. Sabra really did knock this contemporary piece out of the park.

Amazing Grace is a perfect song for Sabra. I wonder what Sabra will get next.

Does Sabra have a chance at winning? I’m afraid not, but I expect that she’ll make it to the final show.

Sara Von Gillern and Neil Haskill Disco

I just loved this disco solo so much that I had to post it on its own. This routine really put disco on the map on So You Think You Can Dance. Go Sara and Neil for this performance. Usually disco is a bad draw, but Sara in particular made this disco pretty special. Ok, Neil’s flip was pretty amazing too.

Wade Robson Peace Solo by Sabra

I’d pretty much said that I wasn’t going to post the videos of the Wade Robson solos that were done by all the dancers on So You Think You Can Dance. Not because I cared about the controversy it caused, but mostly because I was sick of it after seeing it on two evenings in a row.

Now that I’ve had a break for a week, I decided it would be ok to post my favorite Wade Robson solo: Sabra. I don’t give Sabra much love on this blog (and maybe that will change), but her scream was outstanding. None of the others even compared to the intensity and power that she displayed. More power to you Sabra.

Lacey Schwimmer & Danny Tidwell Doing Samba – Top 10 of So You Think You Can Dance

One of the hottest dances of that night is Lacey and Danny’s Samba routine. Choreographed by none other than Dmitry (sorry if I spelled it wrong, I’m too lazy to check right now). I also love the Dmitry has Heidi helping him out as a partner. I hope that So You Think You Can Dance brings back the dancers from last year on a future results show. That would certainly be something worth watching. Ok, I’m sidetracked.

Here’s the videos of Danny and Lacey doing the samba. Many of the videos for obvious reasons.

A performance from this season of So You Think You Can Dance. Lacey & Danny performing a Samba. Hip-hip, Chin-chin!

Step Up 2 – Dancers Submit Your Videos

Touchstone Pictures is working on the sequel to 2005’s smash hit STEP UP – STEP UP 2 THE STREETS. Being a So You Think You Can Dance fan, I thought some of you might be interested to know that Touchstone Pictures is giving fans across the country an opportunity to be part of the sequel! Users have 3 ways to be a part of the movie for a priceless chance to:

1. Display their Talent as a Solo Dancer on the Big Screen

2. Perform in the Film with their Dance Crew

3. Appear as a Singer on the Official Soundtrack

To enter, users are invited to join the STEP UP 2 THE STREETS MySpace profile (yes, I hate linking to myspace) and record yourself or your dance groups dancing to a demo track from the film’s soundtrack by August 10. A group of finalists will be selected by the filmmaking team – including director Jon Chu, lead actor Robert Hoffman, and choreographers from the film (Isn’t one of the choreographers of So You Think You Can Dance doing the show?). MySpace users will vote for the ultimate winners to appear in the film.

If any of my readers submit a video of them dancing, I’d love to get a link or publicize your video on my blog.

STEP UP 2 THE STREETS opens in theaters February 14, 2008!

A Look Back at Lauren Gottlieb on So You Think You Can Dance

I ran across Lauren Gottlieb’s myspace page (which I will not be linking to since I can’t personally stand myspace) and she had some links to videos of her tryouts and then her choreography of a hip hop routine for the group in vegas. A very memorable part of the show, but I didn’t put it together that Lauren was the one in these videos. Always fun to take a look back.

Cat Deeley Pictures

Well, I’ve been talking about Cat Deeley so much, I decided it was only right of me to post a picture or two. Well, actually you can check out a whole slew of pictures of Cat Deeley. I can see why she’s done so well in her career. She’s a beautiful woman. I wonder what she’s like in real life. Here’s one glimpse of Cat

Kameron Bink and Jamie Goodwin Kicked Off So You Think You Can Dance

Well, I don’t think anyone was too surprised that these two got kicked off So You Think You Can Dance. Kameron and Jamie just didn’t match up well with the incredibly likable Lauren and Dominic. I must admit I’m really happy to see Jamie go. It’s nothing personal, but I just prefer Lauren’s dancing 100 times better than Jamie’s. Maybe that’s just personal preference, but Lauren is incredible and I can’t wait to see her next week. Jamie I wouldn’t have given a second thought to.

The results shows just aren’t quite as interesting as the performance shows. I guess this is represented by what I think was the most interesting part of the night. Cat Deeley. She was fantastic and you could tell really has a personal relationship with the dancers that are going home. The highlight of Cat was at the end of the show she had her arms around Kameron and Jamie and she was massaging Kameron’s shoulder. Oh to be Kameron in that moment. I’m not sure if it was Cat’s nerves, Cat hitting on Kameron or just coincidence. However, it was fun to watch even Cat get so involved in the show that she was feeling the pressure. So You Think You Can Dance is lucky to have Cat.

I thought Nigel’s comments at the beginning were ridiculous. I can’t believe people would construe a peace dance as anti-war. Peace does not equal anti-war. Sometimes war is important to maintain peace. Anyway, it’s just a sad state of society when people get all worked up over a little dance to encourage peace. Who in the world wouldn’t want peace?

Finally, I’m glad that Nigel said he was bored with the same routine. That means that they’ll never do it again. That can’t be anything but a plus. After watching the videos some again tonight I decided to not even waste my time posting them. Sorry Wade. You’re great, but once is enough for me.
