UPDATE: The full version of Oona’s “Tore My Heart” that Kelsea danced to is now on iTunes Oona - Tore My Heart - Single - Tore My Heart

Kelsea Taylor is what makes SYTYCD special to me. She’s a unique personality that brings a unique dance style that kind of stretches the movements we’re use to seeing in dance. Someone that can do that is really special.

Many have been asking about what music was used for Kelsea Taylor. After much looking, we could update the LA audition music. Kelsea Taylor (45105) danced to “Tore My Heart” by Oona and Dave Tweedie (So far I can only find it available on Myspace and now a free MP3 download here) Reportedly, the song was originally “Habanera” Kate Nash - Foundations - EP - Habanera by Kate Nash, but had to be swapped due to copyright issues.

It’s always interesting when they decide to swap songs. Copyright issues are tough and sometimes expensive. I think you could also tell the music was swapped since she finished dancing and the music kept going. Would be interesting to see someone overlay the Kate Nash Habanera song with the video of Kelsea Taylor below.

I can’t wait to see Kelsea Taylor dance more in Vegas.

UPDATE: Some really talented SYTYCD fan just posted the video of Kelsea Taylor dancing to her original music “Habanera” Kate Nash - Foundations - EP - Habanera by Kate Nash. You can see how this song does match her dancing. Someone had to know this was replaced or how would they know it would match so perfectly?

Good news for all is that a lot of people will get to know both songs and Kelsea Taylor!!

I loved Kelsea’s audition! I really don’t understand how the music could have been switched, though. The song used fit her movements and her rhythm exactly. On the phrase “tore my heart,” she even grips at her chest and makes a tearing-away motion.

Really hoping she makes Top 20!

      ahs,
It surprised me too. However, little things like the song not stopping at the end make sense. All credit goes to the musical team for the show that was able to find a track that matches perfectly (even the heart thing).

I really hope that someone will take the other track and overlay it with the video and see what it’s like.

I’m sorry but John cannot take credit for this video.
I am the owner of the YouTube channel SYTYDCfanATTIC and i made this vdeo yesterday so people could se Kelsea’s true audition. When i first saw the audtion i was blown away and fell in love with the song, but after looking it up i found out that the song was replaced. ifound the original song on itunes and just played it over the audition and found it matched perfectly. i had to show someone so i used windows movie maker (my first time ever doing this) and it worked perfectly

The videos don’t work :C I watched this like 12 times a few days ago but now I can’t anymore. Sucks lol

      Simone,
They always get taken down over time. I’m sure they have to for copyright reasons although for promotion of the show reasons it’s crazy.

Luckily, there are other options on youtube if you just look around. Not to mention other places on the web. I don’t ever upload anything that’s copyright of the show, but there are a lot of people all over the world that don’t care.
