I might just be overlooking it but do you know the songs that they played when they were showing like the montage thing for Paris and Tony?

    2. # Lauren commented on June 11th, 2009:

      Tony’s montage was:
On Your Own Green River Ordinance - Out of My Hands - On Your Own—Green River Ordinance

omg. as much as i don’t like paris, i kind of feel sorry for her for getting eliminated first.
how can tony get eliminated!! D:

    6. # Stephanie commented on June 11th, 2009:

I think Tony got eliminated because he couldn’t “bring it” when he was dancing in his own style…and then he didn’t really do much of his style during his solo. Certainly didn’t look like he was dancing for his life, anyway. I also think the judges brought him to the show so they could watch him improve a la Ivan…but the dancers this season are SO talented that I think Tony was destined to just get left behind.

As much as I agreed with Paris going home, I also felt bad for her. It was hard to watch because you could see she knew she was going to be cut. I just watched her heart break on national tv…man, she has expressive eyes! Still, I couldn’t fault the judges’ logic. They have a bunch of great contemporary dancers, and only two ballroom girls.

I love that you do this for us fans, I find that I tend to buy the music based on whether the choreography moved me. For example, I had to buy, “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” John Mayer - Continuum - Slow Dancing In a Burning Room after last year’s performance, and Ne-Yo’s Closer Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman (Bonus Track Version) - Closer after the results show performance. Fabu!

Thanks for those that helped out with the montage music. Being on the west coast I need all the help I can get on this;-)

      Stephanie,
I was fine with both of them going home. I call them the cliche couple. They were full of story lines. Too many story lines in fact.

I did feel bad for Paris. She put her heart out there and really wanted it. I also think the reason Nigel gave was lame. You take the best dancer. It’s not about casting the dancers of a certain style to make the show more interesting. Lame!

    10. # Stephanie commented on June 12th, 2009:

I agree the casting decision was really crappy for Paris. If producers want dancers from different genres so badly, why didn’t tapper Bianca make it into the Top 20? She made it all the way to the end, so she was clearly good. I would’ve loved to see a tapper get on the show! Anyway, I think the decision about Paris had more to do with her vs. Asuka and Karla. I kind of feel like those two have more interesting dances ahead of them, but that Paris will plateau. That’s why I’m glad she got cut, but I don’t really think that’s a good reason to give her. It’s a complete guess, and it could be wrong. It just doesn’t sound fair — even less fair than the “we already have too many contemporary dancers” reason.

    11. # John commented on June 12th, 2009:

Stephanie. That’s exactly right. There were plenty of reasons to cut Paris without using the “we already have too many contemporary dancers” reason. Dumb of Nigel to even put it out that way. I think we should just do away with the judges decision altogether.

      John,

I completely agree on the whole “casting” thing being ridiculous. I mentioned that on another post. They got some whack reasons for certain decisions this season….

      buggy,

tony got eliminated because he wasn’t a very good dancer, at least for this competition. in my opinion.

    13. # Cassie commented on June 12th, 2009:

Thanks so much for the list. I loved the guest dancers’ tango performance! I didn’t have time to write down the song they used, so I’m glad I could find it here.

    14. # Stephanie commented on June 13th, 2009:

Did anybody watch “Superstars of Dance” last fall? I think Nigel produced it. It was a really crappy show, and I only watched the first few episodes. The idea was that dancers from different countries would compete in their traditional styles. They had nine judges, one from each country represented. Michael Flatley was one of the hosts. ANYWAY, the tango dancers were the Argentinian contestants. It was nice to see them again. :)

    15. # John commented on June 13th, 2009:

      Stephanie,
I watched Superstars of Dance as well. A little disappointed by that show. I thought they looked like the same dancers, but was too lazy to look it up. I didn’t think they were very good on either show. Just average.
