ok so I absolutely adore melissa & ade (I think they’ve been my #1 fave each week and they seem like they can do wrong together, tonight they were SO sexy in the rumba!), and I think 2nd place in my heart goes to janette & brandon as a couple, they’re so energetic. Kayla is great as a solo because she can hit whatever she’s given without a single fault.

    2. # Nicole commented on June 24th, 2009:

I really thought janette and brandon’s performance stood out, they may even be my new fab couple! Melissa and Ade were great too, but not my fav. And I agree, kaitlin is an amazing solo performer but I’m not sold on her and kupono being partners!
I’m excited to see the results!

Ah…week 3, and I already can’t decide who to vote for. Bliss!

    4. # Lauren commented on June 24th, 2009:

HUGE fan of Evan and Randi tonight… they played the part so well. Jeanine and phillip were so good too. I know the judges didn’t love Phillip but I thought he was amaaazing.

    5. # Kyle commented on June 24th, 2009:

Wow. I never really liked Janette and Brandon but tonight they’ve really got my attention. That was a pretty AWESOME performance, Brandon is a really solid hip-hop dancer. Didn’t see much spunk in Janette to take my eyes away from Brandon though.

Evan and Randi also did a sweet job, for me that is haha. They have a really strong connection with each other and it shows brilliantly through their routines. The routine’s concept itself was just hilarious and amazing at the same time. I’m really, really enjoying this couple ever since week 1. Awesome, awesome.

I also just want to add, that Kayla is SEXY. Hot damn. Everything she does is so alluring. I love this girl.

i have so much to say about tonight’s show. pardon me, i shall rant again.

first, karla and jonathan. their hip hop was okay. not over the top. but i thought karla did pretty good. jonathan had some problems. but this routine was not enough to bring people to vote, i think. but nigel was being really hard on them, how can he say that they’d be in the bottom 3 before voting!? i really hope karla doesn’t get eliminated, she deserves to stay. i wouldn’t say the same for jonathan, though.

now asuka and vitolio. jazz by mandy moore. hmm, not the best jazz but not that bad. it was kind of sweet of vitolio in the rehearsals to comfort asuka. it’s her turn to cry this wk. the routine was not over-the-top good, and i don’t think it’s bad either. so they’re borderline bottom 3. :o

melissa and ade. nigel’s being pretty sick again commenting on her body. but it was a good thing for her. america’s gonna vote. i think the rest of the show started picking up from them. it was not so good at the start. this routine was pretty good.

janette and brandon. is it me or is this season’s hip hop routines not as good? the 4 couple hip hop routines i’ve never really impressed me. but this routine was pretty unique. unique enough to bring the viewers to vote, i guess, and these 2 have enough fans to bring them over to next week (hopefully).

kayla and kupono. i love jean-marc among all the ballroom choreographers from the show for his beautiful waltzes. the one he did for these 2 were lovely. kayla impressed me this time with her lines and grace. she has a gift. and kupono was not bad leading her too. the judges liked it too. just that toni commented on the couple’s lack of shoes. come on, toni, remember last yr kherington and twitch’s waltz? twitch was not wearing shoes but it was still lovely. maybe kayla should have worn some cos she would look more beautiful on her toes, but i thought it was fine without it. lovely routine.

randi and evan now. gosh, did mia had a dose of something else? her routines are usually out of sight but recently, her routines this season were not her usual taste, what with the aborigine-inspired group routine and now with the butt routine. but i thought randi and evan did good. these 2 have been getting lusty routines, haven’t they? first, tyce’s and now mia’s? i wonder what would randi’s husband feel. but this was nice.

caitlin and jason pasa doble. it was pretty good, except that there were a few awkward footwork and their hands did not really have the force and strength that the pasadoble requires. again this week, the connection between these 2 were better, but still not quite there. i have to say i’m a little dissapointed with that. with these 2, i expected a lot more.

jeanine and philip. tyce did a better job this week than he did for asuka and vitolio the 1st week. finally. this routine was quirky and cute. philip did better than i expected. i think they’ll get past this week.

well, i’ll say this week’s not as good as the rest. the most likely couples to be in the bottom 3 are karla and jonathan, asuka and vitolio and caitlin and jason (or maybe randi and evan). i dunno. i don’t enjoy seeing people eliminated, but i’m kind of disappointed in this wk’s performance.

is it me or is today’s show not as spectacular? maybe it’s because the previous 2 weeks had some awesome routines and the first wk started off with such a bam. now the competition is starting to mellow a little, and i don’t think it satisfy viewers like me. there were a few good routines tonight, but nothing over the top. i honestly am quite disappointed. the top 20 this year seemed quite promising from the start, but the show is getting a little low. it is expected, but i really hope that they pick it up and at least each wk we’ll have one fantastic routine to keep us watching. :o

      Rownak,
I agree with you about Melissa and Ade. I keep thinking their going to disappoint, but they really bring it. They’ve had great routines throughout the season. Probably the best set of routines of any couple on the show. Definitely most consistent.

    8. # John commented on June 24th, 2009:

      Stephanie,
Perfect description. I don’t see anyone on the show that is an enormous favorite. The closest is probably Evan and his Benji like following.

    9. # Vijay commented on June 24th, 2009:

Best performances of the night, ranking order, Mellisa and Ade got first place, Janette and Brandon a cool second, and Randi and Evan in third.

Mell-Ade(Mel-a-day)’s performace was amazing. I just loved watching Mellisa dance this piece. It was everything a Rumba should be, smooth and sensual.

Branette? Jandon? their routine was great. Brandon was great as a hip hop dancer but Janette kind of made me nervous. I think it could be the choreography. She seemed to just dance-walk a lot in this routine.

Randi and Evan, I love most of Mia’s routines and I think a lot of people are going to vote for this piece.

Bottom Three: Definately Johnathan and Karla, and Asuka and Vitolio again. As for the last couple I think it will be a toss up between Jason and Caitlin, and Jeanine and Phillip.

Johnathan and Karla are going home I think, which sucks cause I was so excited to have another Filipino on the show. I really hope Asuka goes instead. Sorry Asuka fans.

    10. # John commented on June 24th, 2009:

      Lauren,
The thing I love most about Evan and Randi is that they give it everything they have. You can tell that they’re throwing themselves out there with everything they have. That’s beautiful to watch.

    11. # John commented on June 24th, 2009:

      Kyle,
I thought Janette and Brandon felt awkward. Brandon had a funky double lock thing going on in his dancing. They both danced hard, but maybe it was just the choreography that didn’t go well for me.

Kayla does have an amazing look huh?

    12. # John commented on June 24th, 2009:

As always buggy, we welcome your rant.

I agree that today’s show was nothing spectacular. Someone on twitter described it as a few fun routines, but nothing amazing. A very apt description. The season usually goes through some ups and downs.

    13. # John commented on June 24th, 2009:

      Vijay,
You reminded me that the combined names haven’t really taken off. I like some of the ones you suggested. Anyone else know of combined names that we should be using?

I just have to say a huge thank you for this site! I love having the links to all the music here in one place. I’ve already bought tons of songs from the show from Itunes. Thanks for doing all this work for the fans! The music this year has been (almost always) fantastic. But what’s with Mandy Moore and the 80’s tunes? She’s starting to be my least favorite choreographer.

    15. # John commented on June 25th, 2009:

      Aly,
I’m glad you like it. I can’t say it’s all altruistic. I do actually make a small affiliate commission when someone clicks on the iTunes link and buys the song. So, I do get something for the effort. I call it date money for my wife;-)

Mandy Moore has always been an 80’s type girl. I kind of like the variety that it offers.

    16. # Christine commented on June 27th, 2009:

I finally got to watch the shows since I’m unable to view them on Wednesday and Thursday. (unfortunately i can’t vote :( since I cannot see the dances in time to vote)

I think my favorite dance was probably the broadway. Maybe Because I like the Jeanine and Philip couple. I thought Jeanine looked fabulous and everything from her expressions to the movement through her fingers were amazing!

I was shocked at Brandon’s ability to pop like that. Considering the recent hip hop routines have been a little soft it was good to see him hitting hard. However, I felt, although it seemed like they were having fun, he overshadowed his partner. They played off of each other but I think Brandon’s powerful movements were really big and didn’t flow well with Janette. Maybe Janette needed to hit harder but I think Brandon could have let up just a little to flow with his partner.

Evan, a great dancer. I’m still waiting for a hip hop routine from them. Randi I haven’t quite warmed up to, but paired together they seem to be unstoppable.

I was sad to see Asuka leave because you could tell that she warmed up to Vitolio. I think I’ve heard rumors that she was snobby and maybe it was true but was truely humbled by Vitolio. He’s a great dancer and maybe she felt she was holding him back.

And I’m glad Jonathon’s gone. I didn’t think he had anything to give. He couldn’t even nail his own style down without sprucing it up with tricks. Just my opinion

Thank you so much for putting this site together. What a vaulable companion to the TV show. So much great music every week.

      Anthony,
Thanks for the kind words. We aren’t perfect, but we do our best. It’s great readers that really make it special.
