Jeanine Mason – Winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 5
Congratulations to Jeanine Mason, winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 and America’s Favorite Dancer. All I can say is that it was very well deserved. Her performance yesterday knocked it out of the park for me.
I’m really happy to say that the readers of Pure SYTYCD did a great job “predicting” Jeanine to be the winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 in both yesterday’s SYTYCD 5 Poll and even predicted Jeanine Mason to be the So You Think You Can Dance winner back on June 17th. I think that second one might have been a little bit of luck, but obviously readers of this blog saw Jeanine’s stardom early on. In fact, somehow I even ranked Jeanine at the top of my So You Think You Can Dance Top 20 power rankings. Probably a little bit of luck there as well, but I had to at least take a moment to brag about the readers of Pure SYTYCD!! Woot!!

I’ll save the rest of the minutiae related to the So You Think You Can Dance finale for another post tomorrow and I encourage everyone to share those thoughts in the SYTYCD finale discussion thread. Otherwise, let’s celebrate Jeanine and her beautiful dancing in this thread!!

UPDATE: Also read this story about Jeanine Mason’s medical issues before SYTYCD. Amazing that the show never brought it up, but I think this makes me appreciate Jeanine even more.
She wowed me with the first performance with Philip of “Mad”. (Which, ironically enough, I’m re-watching right at this instant while I record it to DVD. lol) She matched his strength and really is a great hip-hop dancer. No other girl on the show could match her hip hop skills (maybe Ashley could have gotten close…)
And now that I know about her injury…wow. What a strong young woman…and the fact that none of us knew about it? To me, it makes it even nicer that she won last night.

WELL I wanted Kayla to win BUT (and there is a butt:) I’m so happy for Jeanine! She’s awesome and I have enjoyed watching her all season!! so congrats to her!! If it wasn’t Kayla, I wanted Jeanine to win! She has a great mix of the talent and the personality.
I loved her speech. “Thanks to the academy” haha….so good.
Another season comes to an end…..but at least we don’t have to wait till next summer!! wahoo!! only 1 month!
I’m glad that Jeanine seems to be over her injury. Also glad they didn’t mention it and try to go for the sympathy vote like they did on AI with Gokey. Bleh.
It occurred to me after watching the Fame previews with Kherington seeming to have such a big role, that having Adam ( Step Up/Step Up 2 producer, Hairspray producer) going on and on on how beautiful she is and dances with such warmth, etc. is not a bad thing at all, at all! You could almost see the gears working as he thinks about casting Step Up 3…
