I can’t wait to see the songs posted, already there’s been a few that I really like and don’t know the names of.

Right now, the girl who is hearing impaired is dancing to the Fray – You Found Me The Fray - The Fray - You Found Me.

    2. # Evie commented on September 16th, 2009:

Ellie Soto: Charlotte Martin’s The Dance Charlotte Martin - Stromata - The Dance

I haven’t had a chance to watch the auditions lastnight, but plan on watching sometime this morning. I have my “Midomi” ready, so if anyone needs help figuring out a song, just let me know and I’ll do my best to help! :) (Krista, I’ll try to find the composer/artist for the classical piece and let you know if I have any luck!)

    4. # Emilie commented on September 17th, 2009:

@Lisa: Hope the list helped. Thanks for your help.

@Evie: You’re so right, thank you!!! That was driving me nuts because I knew it was a song I knew well and that had been on SYTYCD before. :) Thank you again.

@Juliette: Did you enjoy the show?

    5. # Lisa commented on September 17th, 2009:

Emilie – great job with all the music! The ones I wanted to know were Sasha and Katie. I knew the one Ellie danced too, but I couldn’t place the name! Thanks!

@ Lisa: So glad you got the answers you wanted. I hate that burning “what is that song” feeling. Like, the new iPod Nano commercial has a song that I was trying to figure out, but couldn’t. Though I’m so glad to see Cat Steven’s “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out” Cat Stevens in another technology commercial. :)

I am not sure if this was already posted…there was this little tiny clip of a song in like a mini-montage I think about halfway through the show. I think it was saying something about “chasing stars”…?
I am trying to find the episode online again to re-watch that part for something a little more specific, but with no luck :( Any thoughts?

    8. # Mada commented on September 19th, 2009:

Hi guys. I’m so grateful that i found this site, i’ve been trying to find the songs from season 6 by myself, using google and youtube to match the lyrics and it’s been really hard.
I think i have the same problem like deanna, i tried to find that song for like an hour and no luck, but i did find a video of the episode and managed to hear a few more words. it goes something like this “…two twinkling stars…shining just for you…high in your arms…”
This is all i could decipher, and i’m not really sure i heard right.
You can watch the episode here: http://www.watchsytycd.info/season-6/season-6-episode-2-audition-2 . The song that i am talking about starts from the minute 31.
      Hope you can help me.

p.s. I hope i wrote everything correctly, i’m sorry if my english is not so good, it’s beacause it’s a foreign language for me, i’m romanian.

    9. # Deanna commented on September 19th, 2009:

Thanks for that link Mada! My VCast Song ID picked up the one you were looking for as “Sweet Dreams” by Jewel (like shown above). It wouldn’t pick up the one I wanted though, which was actually the Katie Muth audition (about minute 10:30) which is also shown above. I can’t even find a song by Phillip Larue called “Live this Life” in any searches though (iTunes or otherwise), so I’m not sure that’s the right one? All you can hear is “she’s a star, and she’s shooting across the sky”.

    10. # Mada commented on September 20th, 2009:

You’re right about the song “Sweet dreams”, i already had it and didn’t listen to it again.
About the one by Phillip Larue, i have the song and it’s not the one, i’m sure cause i listened to it carefully. I also listened to some other songs of him thinking that maybe it’s another one, but i still didn’t find the one.
You can download the song from this link:
      http://www.easy-share.com/1907836461/Phillip LaRue – Live This Life.mp3 , see if i’m right.

    11. # Emilie commented on September 20th, 2009:

@ Mada: Welcome to the site. I know how you feel – I felt the same way when I discovered this site.

@Deanna: “Live This Life” wasn’t available via iTunes for some reason, but I had a copy of it. What happened was that I searched for that song all night during and after the show. Then, completely coincidentally, I was listening to music later and that song came on and I recognized the lyrics (since I’d been struggling to find the song). I’m pretty sure it’s the right one, but if you try the link that Mada provided, let me know if you concur.

      “You’re so beautiful
      And the crazy thing is
      You don’t even know
      That you are
      A shooting star
      In my sky
      You are the reason why
      I live this life
      For you
Why don’t you hold to its truth
And though a thread may break
A new one will form in its place
      Whatever might change
      Nothing will tear
      This bond with you
      You’re so beautiful…”

That’s the opening to the song.

    12. # Jonathan commented on September 20th, 2009:

That is the wrong song. It isn’t Phillip Larue – Live this life. It is something else, but no one seems to know what it is.

Sounds like a simple song with just an acoustic guitar.
Lyrics: she’s a star….and she shoot across the sky”
      Katie Muth audition.

    13. # Deanna commented on September 20th, 2009:

Thanks for the continued help with that song! I don’t think it’s the Phillip LaRue one…but I have seen the question as to what it is in one or two other places also. At least I’m not the only one trying like crazy to find it! I will keep looking and pass along if I have any luck.

    14. # Jonathan commented on September 20th, 2009:

lol… nope, you are not alone in this journey hahah… Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Deanna

    15. # Emilie commented on September 21st, 2009:

@ Jonathan & Deanna: The Phillip LaRue was my best guess, especially after the moment of synchronicity. :) Lemme know if you figure it out and I’ll be sure to do the same. ;”)

    16. # Jonathan commented on September 24th, 2009:

I found out what song it is. But I’m unable to find the mp3. If you can find it and send me the mp3 let me know.

      Song: Dave Tweedie – She’s a Star

    17. # Deanna commented on September 25th, 2009:

I just found out the song/artist too and was coming here to post! Well, search 1 is over and now it’s on to the search for the mp3 I guess – haha :)

    18. # Jonathan commented on September 25th, 2009:

Hey Deanna, I wasn’t going to post that up at first because I though the people in this discussion were done with the topic :p lol. Glad to see you’re still around. Hopefully the mp3 turns up :) Hope lifes treating ya well.

    19. # Deanna commented on September 26th, 2009:

Haha – I think THEY are done with the topic ;) Still searching for the mp3, no luck so far…

    20. # Emilie commented on September 28th, 2009:

      Hi Jonathan and Deanna,

I’m enjoying watching y’all chat about this and thanks for finding the song! I did my best to contact Dave Tweedie to see if there’s a digital download or cd available and I’ll let you know if he (or someone) gets back to me about that. I’ll keep checking iTunes when I get the chance, as well.

      Emilie

      Emilie,
Sorry for the delay in response but that is awesome you tried to get in contact with him! I am definitely not having much luck finding anything at all on the web anywhere. I wonder how all these auditioners using his music found out about him?

    22. # Jonathan commented on October 1st, 2009:

Deanna, that is a really good question. I wonder how they got their hands on that song months ago.. I can only imagine the inside connections the judges and people behind the scenes of SYTYCD have. I hope someone finds that mp3.. I’m waiting for the day it pops up lol. Take care people.

    23. # Emilie commented on October 1st, 2009:

      Hi Deanna and Jonathan,

While I am by no means an expert, I know that SYTYCD sometimes plays montages of several dancers to one song (and not the song they chose for their auditions), so they sometimes change the music. So, perhaps they do that sometimes when they have a song/artist already licensed for the show and can’t “get” rights to the song the dancer used.

Also, Dave Tweedie sang with Oona on a song last season, so maybe some of the dancers were inspired by that? Here’s the link to a free download of an Oona/Dave Tweedie song.

And, from everything I’ve heard, the community of dancers (period, but especially in any given city) is pretty small. So if dancers discover a musician, they inspire others by using their songs.

      Those are my theories. :)

    24. # Cat commented on October 14th, 2009:

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any luck on identifying the classical sounding song?

    25. # Emilie commented on October 14th, 2009:

Hi Cat – I’m not sure which you mean. Do you mean from tonight’s show? All of the Phoenix music is listed here and nothing quite fits “classical” except maybe “Also Sprach Zarathustra: 2001 Space Odyssey” Royal Philharmonic Orchestra or “Theme from “What’s Happening!!” HENRY MANCINI - Greatest Hits - The Best of Henry Mancini (Remastered) - What's Happening!! maybe.

    26. # Cat commented on October 21st, 2009:

I’m pretty sure it was Phoenix auditions. It was during the David Hovhannisyan/Brandon Dumlao/Amanda Kirby montage and was mostly strings.
      Here it is:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aHIvCpcG6M

Maybe it was just a bit of filler they made themselves.

    27. # Emilie commented on October 24th, 2009:

@Cat: I’m fairly certain all of the music is listed, so it should be one of those above. A lot of times, it seems like they play short clips from songs they’ve already used in the episode (a way to get the most out of their money, perhaps), so it’s likely a snippet from one of these songs.

    28. # Cat commented on November 7th, 2009:

Ah no it’s not listed here. It’s called ‘Company’ by Philip Glass. It’s during the montage of ‘good’ dancers with Brandon Dumlao among others.
