Top 20 Power Rankings Live
Top 6:
3 Girls – Ariana, Channing and Karen
3 Guys – Nathan, Billy (except…) and Jakob
Middle 8:
4 Girls -Mollee, Noelle, Elleanor and Pauline
4 Guys – Ryan, Peter, Russell and Kevin
Bottom 6:
3 Girls – Ashleigh, Bianca (ducks all the flying objects), and Kathryn (ducking again – sorry Amanda)
3 Guys – Legacy, Phillip and Victor
I think Ashleigh and Legacy will be the ones cut.
7:45 p.m. update: Half the couples have danced, let’s see if any of my thoughts last night have changed. Victor is definitely out of the bottom 3 guys!! Let’s move him to the top. But who does he oust? Ashleigh did better with Jakob than I thought she would, but I still think she’s in danger. She pulls too many faces and it’s kinda clear she’s only as good as her partner – and while her partners are phenomenal, she does a’right. I don’t think Bianca’s gonna be in the bottom – not after that great Travis Wall. More about that later. I really loved Ariana and Peter, but if we get some great routines, I think they’ll probably be about the middle till they get more props from the judges. It’s too bad Noelle couldn’t dance that great Foxtrot with Russell.
8:25 p.m. update: Wow, the Legacy and Kathryn pairing really surprised me! Pauline and Brandon did very well and everyone loved Elleanore and Ryan’s (I’m undecided). Karen distracted everybody from Kevin a bit, but he did a pretty good job of holding his own. I’m so confused!!! One more couple before they cut a girl and a guy and now, I just don’t know. They’re doing a good job of acting like everybody’s gonna be around next week – it sounds convincing every time. I think maybe Ashleigh’s still in danger. Maybe Pauline (no!). Maybe Noelle because of the injury. As for the guys – Legacy just represented pretty well and he was my best bet to go. They wouldn’t send Brandon home would they – he did a phenomenal job for a day and a half preparation. What do y’all think?
8:40 p.m. update: Oh no!!! The four dancing solos are Ariana, Brandon, Pauline and Russell. NOT a good decision! I have to say, Ariana is one of my favorites, so as much as I like Pauline… and I have a feeling it’s Brandon going, not Russell. Russell had an amazing performance, so I don’t understand that at all. What do y’all say?
8:52 p.m. update: No, it’s Ariana going home. Worst decision ever.
8:55 p.m. update: They cut Brandon, which makes sense because of Russell, but is a little bit of a cheat. They’re going to try to change the rules so that Brandon can come back next season.
I’m really upset about Ariana.
they had better like brandon back….he got screwed. and the ariana thing made me quite mad – i felt that she had performed better than pauline to date (especially tonight) but again just like last season it felt like the judges walked into this season with the decision that no matter what she would be the first girl sent home. its just crap….i’m getting sick of the bias.
*take brandon back, not like 🙂
I felt for sure they were going to give a free pass this week considering all the upsets with Billy and Noelle. What the heck was the point of even bringing Brandon back?
Kathryn jumped up a bunch of notches for me tonight. Really pleasantly surprised.
It’s not global warming meltingthe polar ice caps, its Karen. OMG.
Strong performances by everybody, I thought.
Though I thought Channing/Philip lost steam at points.
I really liked Ariana, but I understand that. What I don’t get is Russell in the B2…really? He was the most out of his comfort zone, and he did above average!
Okay did think it would be Ariana but just remember if Noelle can’t dance Ariana could get a second chance Comfort got one. Um its not just going to be Brandon they bend the rules for…um hello what about Billy.
Oh Adam made me laugh with his comments about Karen…lol…not his thing haha.
Am I allowed to say I told you so about Kathryn…hehe. I think it was lucky for Legacy to get hip hop and Dave Scott created a great routine…I would have love it with or with out Kathryn.
Travis again proves that he is brilliant. Those lifts and transitions were great.
Overall the show was a great start to the competition. I do have to say I give props for Brandon stepping in and doing the best he could with what time he had.
I meant didnt* lol I need spell check
@Andie: I liked both of them, but Ariana really stood out to me. I really wish she’d stayed around longer.
@CoffeyCup: I wish they had given a free pass this week, considering Billy and Noelle, Brandon coming in and such. And I don’t trust the judges to vote for me next week. This sucks. You’re right about Kathryn, though. 🙂
@Ronnica: Why would they put Russell in the bottom 2, I agree. Did they just want to see him solo again? He did a wonderful job, especially considering his partner was injured.
@Amanda: I hate to root for Noelle to have to drop out, but that is comforting that Ariana could come back. Good to know. And I always believed you about Kathryn, but we didn’t get to see a lot of beyond tripping and high-pitched crying. I’m glad we got to see some great dancing from her tonight. 🙂 It was a great routine, even with Legacy in it (and yes, very lucky…). You’re right about Brandon. And that Travis Wall routine! Maybe Travis will pick up a lot of the Mia slack. That would be awesome.
This show took the express train to WTF-ville during the elimination section. I was uber relieved Russell was safe. He is my hands-down favorite. It made no sense to put him in the bottom 2, but give his partner a pass to next week. Plus, he was good! I could see if he sucked!!
Also, Brandon was leaps-and-bounds better than the judges gave him credit for. Not sure if they just wanted him to come back next year for the entire journey or what, but Philip would have been a much more just selection for elimination. I thought Brandon and Pauline had tons of chemistry and he did quite well out of his genre. Philip and Channing? Not so much…
My alternate bottom 4 would have been: Philip & Kevin (Philip leaving) and Ashleigh & Channing (Ashleigh leaving)
Next week, does this mean Pauline and Peter are paired and Russell is left to hope his partner gets better (and if not, that there’s a female stand-in to partner with?)
Unless they do something extremely earth-shattering next week, Ashleigh and Philip can go… swiftly.
I thought Ariana’s solo was enough to save, and Her solo reminded me a Sabra’s first solo from season 3..She doesn’t have to deserve it like that…And I’m little sad about Brandon, I hope He can come back next year..
And I felt that male dancer will be the winner on this season..
@Deah: Love your train analogy, considering the hot tamale train. ;”) This was the cold gumbo train or something…weird and not quite right. I love Channing, but I would’ve understood her in the bottom 2 (as long as she didn’t go home). Why is Ashleigh still there? Errggggh.
@stophead: I agree that Ariana’s solo was great and she didn’t deserve go to first. Also, I think you’re right about a male winner. Is it too early to say Nathan? ;”)
