I’m super lucky that on Saturday I have the chance to go to the press event before the SYTYCD Las Vegas tour stop (Thanks Emilie). Watch the blog this weekend and early next week for pictures and video from the event. Plus, I’m going to try and stream some video of the event live on this blog using a program called Qik. I’ll try and post the link to the video before I start streaming. I’ll also send out a tweet to @tvblog when I start streaming live on Qik. You should be able to see it all streamed live at TVBlog on Qik. If you go there now you can see the test video I did. I think there’s also a way that you can send me questions live using Qik too, but I haven’t tried that functionality yet.

Looks like the press session starts around 3:00 PM PST (6 PM EST). So watch for the live stream during that time frame. Also, I’m not yet sure who will be at the press event (since they rotate who’s doing press), but if you have questions you’d like me to ask the Five Alive crew, then leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to ask them during the event.

Can you tell I’m excited? I’m a little nervous as well, but it should be a lot of fun and an experience to remember.

Hey! That’s so cool you get to do a live stream! I can’t wait to watch. I’m glad they’re finally on the west coast so I don’t have to deal with time zones and such. :)

I really hope that Jeanine and Jason are there, because I wish someone would interview them together and ask them what it was like working with Travis, working with each other, etc. (asking about the kiss wouldn’t be bad either. Haha, unless they don’t want to talk about it)

And I was also wondering how often do any of the Five Alive cast get recognized on the streets and at the places they go to when they are on tour, just walking around and exploring the cities they’re in. Do they just sign autographs and take pictures with people on the streets? Do they have to be followed around by bodyguards or something?

I would love to hear about the drama and what really goes down on the tour buses–but I feel like that’d be an invasion of privacy lol. Maybe just ask who’s the funniest, who snores, who wakes up early and wakes up everyone else, who’s the last to go to sleep, who’s always on the phone, etc. Funny little things about all the dancers.

Which tour stop was the best? Which didn’t live up to its expectations? Which show was a huge surprise for them? Any mistakes? Jeanine’s mooning the audience in LA? Wardrobe malfunctions, prop issues, missing cues or lines? Haha.

Last thing (I promise!) what they thought about what went down between Nigel and Nathan. And if they think season 6 came too soon, and if they should’ve waited until the summer again. Do they feel cheated, because they barely had their chance in the spotlight and then another cast came along? (Especially Jeanine here, because she won)

      Alexandra,
Great stuff. I’ll be sure to read this just before I go and talk to them. I’m sure I can ask a number of the questions.

Also, I hope the live stream works too. 1. that there aren’t any technical problems and 2. that they don’t stop me from live streaming it;-) All I can do is try. I’ll be carrying another video camera and a nice digital camera to do other video and pictures as well. I’m not sure how much space I have to have to do the live streaming. Should be fun!

Oh Good i can redeem my questions for Kupono!

      1) Kupono, what local foods do you miss eating from Hawaii?

And just for funsies if you could ask all the cast:
If you had a superpower, what would it be?

That should be fun for you John :)

so I just watched an interview where Kupono talked about the boys having to be “butler boys?” (He was with Randi and it was after their elimination I believe.) I want to know if that actually happened and what it entails if it did!

Ask them how they feel when the younger kids that are still in early elementary school say that which dancer is their favorite. I remember Bradon reaction he took out his phone to get a pic so he could have.

hmmm…..I’ve noticed (from YouTube videos) that it doesn’t seem that they don’t the same set for every show. I’ve noticed videos of some dances that were not at the show I saw. What’s the reasoning behind doing some routines for some shows and not others.

And have any of them had to perform in another’s place yet? I know they learn each other’s dances in case of injury or sickness.

Have a great time at the show John!!! I wish I could have gone multiple times ;) I’m excited to hear your feedback on the show and catching the feed from the press event -as long as 1) it is still happening and 2) i’m home for it

correction: I’ve noticed that it seems they DONT USE the same set for every show. Got my words all jumbled up. sorry!

what is it like for the dancers who get to perform in their hometowns? that just seems like it would be the coolest experience!

hometown dancers that i’ve heard: kayla (denver), randi (salt lake city), brandon (miami) janette (miami) and maybe evan (detroit i think)

i’m sooo excited to see them in san jose next week!!

Man, this experience was crazy. It was a lot of fun, but a bit overwhelming. I know I asked at least one of these questions of Jason. Otherwise, I can’t even remember. Sorry that I didn’t prepare a little better. Also, some of the people weren’t there (ie. Pono). Anyway, I’ll post the videos of the experience shortly.
