Behind the Top Ten Choreography
The opening number for the top ten results show, has to be one of my favorites this season. “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” a classic Billy Joel song, which made for a great dance number. Just as I thought part of Tyce’s inspiration came from Twyla Tharp’s choreograpy for the Broadway musical Movin’ Out. I had the opportunity to see Movin’ Out on Broadway, in fact it was the first show I ever saw in New York. I absolutely loved this show, I’ve seen it a total of three times. Anyways, I was excited to see that someone had decided to do a more up to date broadway number. I would love to see more broadway numbers where the songs are from musicals that were created in the 90s to now, like something from RENT. Okay getting off track here is the video of Tyce talking about the choreography and below it is a video of Movin’ Out from the 2003 Tony Awards.
Granted it’s not the same song but I wanted to share it. Unfortunately it closed on Broadway but I’m not sure if there is a touring show. If there is a tour going on and you love dance then I recomend this show.
Since this is about the choreographers I thought I’d throw this in here. I was watching My Fair Wedding with David Tutera on WE TV and Melanie and Tony were on there teaching the bride and groom to do a latin ballroom dance. I loved seeing them in another element.
honestly, i had no idea where to post this, so. i just thought i’d post it on the most recent one.
*SPOILER*
I’ve heard going around the web that Mollee is shadowing Ashleigh this week learning all her choreography in case A’s injury gets worse and she can’t dance.
Apparently they have a travis wall contemporary piece.
and all this could be wrong, so i’m hoping for some sort of verification.
