SYTYCD Season 7 Music Predictions
I did this for Season 6, but this time, I’m raising the stakes. I’m not just going to suggest great music for Season 7, I’m going to actually predict music that we’ll see this season. I get two cool points for every song I get right. And…at the end of the season, for every song I get wrong… I’ll lose five cool points. 🙂
Here we go. Music that WILL be featured in Season 7:
2. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’s “And No More Shall We Part”
3. Justin Bieber (ft. Ludacris)’s “Baby”
5. Katy Perry (and Snoop Dogg)’s “California Girls”
6. Miley Cyrus’s “Can’t Be Tamed”
8. Kate Hudson’s “Cinema Italiano”
9. Alicia Keys’s “Empire State of Mind Broken Down”
10. Maxwell’s “Fistful of Tears”
12. Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet”
16. Gossip’s “Love Long Distance”
17. The Pretty Reckless’s “Make Me Wanna Die”
18. 3OH!3 (ft. Ke$sha)’s “My First Kiss”
19. Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now”
20. John Legend’s “Ordinary People”
22. Yo Yo Ma playing Bach’s “Sarabande in G Major”
23. Duffy’s “Smoke without Fire”
24. The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition”
25. Glee Cast (ft. Jonathan Groff)’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart”
As I was making this list, I could picture some of the hypothetical routines, envision which choreographers would use which songs. Listen to the songs and tell me what you think. Which ones do you agree with me on? Disagree? What songs do you think will end up being used this season?
What made you pick Ordinary People? It’s not really new at all and everything else on the list is less than a year old.
Can’t Be Tamed would be awesome for a group dance. Anything from Glee would be great. Love Lady A, would be great to see Kathryn dance to them only because they are from the same hometown.
@Michael: In addition to looking at Billboard’s Top 100 and iTune’s top list, I also referred to a list I started keeping during SYTYCD UK and AU of great songs used there. I figured some would end up being re-used this season, either in the same choreography or new. If you look again, you’ll notice a few that are more than a year old, like the Nick Cave, Mika and Bach tunes!
@Amanda: I’m glad you approve of those choices. 🙂 Are there any songs you think will be in this season?
Airplanes by BOB. Pretty Wings by Maxwell. Alright with Me by Kris Allen would be great for a jive. Maybe something from Mama Mia for a broadway number. hmm thats about about all that i can think of right now.
Jason DeRulo’s “In My Head” was basically made for a NappyTabs routine …. RIGHT?!
yes. the answer is yes. and i will be expecting that.
there was only one glee song last year – but maybe there will be some more this season, esp since the show has really taken off even more since then.
ugh, I really hope they don’t use “Can’t Be Tamed” Miley doesn’t need any more press. I think Justin Bieber’s “Baby” would be kind of awesome though, I’d watch that. For a song from Glee, what about Jonathan and Lea’s version of “Hello” ? That would be great for a contemporary number. btw, I’m going to see Lady Antebellum on Saturday, I’m ridiculously excited. If they did a group Broadway number, may I suggest the opening number from ‘A Chorus Line’? That would be awesome, especially for a Top 20 number, it looks really cool with a large group of people.
Margaret the openning number for a chorus line would be great for the top 10. Enjoy the Lady A concert.
Thanks Amanda! I think it’s going to be really fun. I think the song from A Chorus Line would be a great test for them, you can’t hide in that dance, it’s grueling.

I’m thinking you definitely need to have “Rock That Body” by Black Eyed Peas… But I’m also thinking “Kids” by MGMT, “Fancy Footwork” by Chromeo, and “Not Myself Tonight” by Christina Aguilera.
@Amanda: You’re spot on with all your choices! 🙂 I almost chose “Pretty Wings,” I really did. But I ultimately went with “Ordinary People.” I can’t really say why. If I were doing the list today, it’d probably look very different. Though I stand by my list, of course! I’m already up 2 cool points!
@Kayla: I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case. I don’t know – but it’s a great song for a routine. Or just driving around in your car. 🙂
@Margaret: Good call on “Hello.” That’s another case of – it literally could’ve been any song they’ve covered. How was the Lady A concert. Do you mean – “I Hope I Get It” or “One” ? I know “One” was a group routine (Season 5?) with the judges dancing. That’s the most well known, while “I Hope I Get It” is the movie opening song (I’ve never seen the musical).
@Anestazia: I’m glad you put some songs into the mix! What great choices. I debated about Black Eyed Peas. It’s pretty much a given that *something* of theirs is going to be used on the show, right? Lol. “Rock that Body” is a good choice. Any other suggestions/predictions?

I hope that, in the coming season, two of my fave-at-the- moment songs are used: Pink “Glitter” – and Slash (with Adam Levine) “Gotten” – (omy, have it on YouTube playing and can just see a Tookie/Travis choreo with Mia/Adam cryfest to follow… great song).
