Emilie’s Top 10 of Season 7 (So Far!)

Okay, you asked for it. Well, Anna did. In the comments of my “Top Music of SYTYCD Season 7 – So Far,” she asked:

Emilie, can you give us your TOP 10 list of songs used on the show? I’m an alternative fan myself. Thanks again!

Well, you know that I like giving you what you want. 🙂 Especially when it comes to music and all things SYTYCD-related. But, I realized I couldn’t limit myself to 10, so I’m taking 15. These are the songs I’ve loved for a long time or was introduced to because of the show. They wormed their way into my head somehow, somewhere along the way. And they’ve all been featured on SYTYCD this season. So, consider this my own personal SYTYCD Season 7 Mix and enjoy.

1. Lissie’s “Everywhere I Go” – Why.

2. Sam Sparro’s “Black and Gold” – Sam

3. V.V. Brown’s “L.O.V.E.” – Travelling If you like this song, you should check out her “Crying Blood,” which is even better and on the same album.

4. Anouk’s “Lost” – Hotel

5. Ben. E. King’s “Stand By Me” – Ben This has always been one of my favorite songs, so I had to include it.

6. Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” – Jar

7. Amy Winehouse’s “Amy Amy Amy” – Back

8. DeVotchKa’s “The Winner Is” – Little

9. Skunk Anasie’s “Squander” – Squander

10. Dinah Washington/Max Richter’s “This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight” – Shutter

Check out this stunning ballet to the song – it makes me wonder if Mia saw this before she choreographed her routine with Billy, Alex and Ade.

11. St. Vincent’s “Paris Is Burning” – Marry

12. Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” – Hallelujah

13. Janis Joplin’s “Summertime” – Janis One of my favorite all-time songs sung by one of my favorite musicians.

14. and David Bowie’s “Fame” – Best

15. Florence + the Machine are one of my favorite groups, so I couldn’t chose my favorite of the three songs SYTYCD has used so far this season: “Dog Days Are Over,” Dog “Addicted to Love” Addicted and “Cosmic Love” Lungs.

FYI, there were so many songs I wanted to include, but couldn’t in the end, like Donny Hathaway’s “For All We Know,” Roberta Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy,” I Jason Mraz’s “A Beautiful Mess,” Jason Mark Masri’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” I and Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” Pretty.

I haven’t been doing so well on my personal challenge – Most of my predicted songs haven’t been used so far this season. But you know what, they should be. They’re great songs, so check them out for more great music. And I hope you know where to find all of Season 7’s music by now. 🙂

And on one last note, I hope that all of you, including Anna, will tell me in the comments what YOUR personal Top Ten of the season is. What would your mix look like?
