My Thoughts on Tonights 150th Episode
So there is yet another injury tonight, this time Billy Bell. Seriously what is going on this season like everyone else is say/tweeting it’s a dance version of Survivor. I have to say I liked the way the Judges were introduced, clever way to keep the identity of the guest judge a secret. I figured it out before he turned around, Kenny Ortega. Nice to see a fresh face on the panel, makes me miss the rotating third judge.
Lauren and Twitch were up first with the western hip hop. I enjoyed it nice to see Lauren get down and dirty but still make it sexy. Our guest judge had my favorite saying tonight with “Save a horse ride a cowboy”.
Jose and Allison I enjoyed more for the concept. I love that Sonya did something different. Jose did better this week but still lacks in technique. Big thanks to Mia for actually defining Contemporary.
Robert and Lauren. I loved that this dance didn’t have a story. Being able to just sit back and just enjoy it. Robert seems to be letting loose and showing everyone why he is there and his solo was my favorite technique.
Kent and Kathryn. I didn’t think Kent wasn’t going to turn the card around. Again just a fun fast paced dance that just showed the joy of dancing instead of having a story. To hear Kenny say he was the person to beat was nice to hear an outsiders opinion. I have to agrees with the amount of screams he get. Hmm I wonder who gets more screams him or Neil.
Ade Chike and Comfort. Holy Moly NappyTabs that was intense. To Ade Chike in tears after that was just WOW. He really showed up for the first time for me. I would love to hear what Alecia Keys has to say about it.
On to Lauren and Robert’s Samba. I really enjoyed it, they looked like they were having fun. I love Robert’s reaction when they said he look like a pro. Loved Lauren’s outfit that and the music, I just want to get up and dance too but as long as its with Dmitry. I really miss Mary, I want to know if they made it on the Hot Tamale Train.
Ade Chike and Jose. The Duel of the Matadors, love the cape stuff, and seeing Legacy in the rehearsal footage. Just wish I was able to hear what was going on but stupid bad weather interruption for places three hours away from me. It was interesting to say the least, but for me Ade Chike was the stronger of the two.
Time for the first ever step routine, which is not true. There was one in Season three with Shauna and Jimmy. I thought Kent pulled it off, though I dont think he would have looked as out of place if Billy was able to dance. Props to Twitch for stepping in (no pun intended haha).
I hope Billy will feel like he is able to dance for his life tomorrow, but no matter what happens it was an enjoyable show and it was nice to see Alex in the audience.

You’re right about Shauna and Jimmy. It was considered a hip hop routine, but it did have a step section in it.
Nigel had me confused when he brought up Five Guys Named Moe. I guess I always thought of that routine as Broadway, which it kind of is, and tap, which – now that I look at it again – it’s really not at all, lol. It is mostly stepping. Oh well! Mia was confused, too, so I feel better!

LOVE the color of Cat’s dress, not so crazy about how she looks like she took a big ribbon and spun it around herself, but she somehow pulls it off.

glad to hear Billy’s injury isn’t bad enough to completely take him out of the competition, he was probably smart not to dance tonight, but hopefully he can just kill it tomorrow, b/c he’s been in the bottom a lot.
there were great sounds in Lauren and Twitch’s song, which gave them ample opportunities to hit cool images, which they nailed. I loved this routine, very clever and they both hit it really hard the whole time. umm, can we talk about the reverse somersaults? insane, insane. Also insane? Twitch’s hair, rockin’ the strange combover look, wasn’t feelin’ the hair tonight, dude. I think Adam was right about Lauren, she was a badass without losing her sexiness/sassiness.

Comfort’s got some guns! Wow! I wouldn’t want to mess with her, lol. Nevertheless, that was an awesome routine. Chike and Comfort were totally synced and I was definitely getting the “Bleeding Love’ vibe. But it was different enough from BL for this one to really be able to stand on its own.
I actually liked Robert and Lauren’s jazz. I thought they did a good job of really specifying the flowing movements as well as the quick staccato movements. And they do make a hot pair. I think I would have felt more of the seduction if the camera had panned in closer. There’s something about watching the facial expressions that just adds to the body movements.
Kathryn and Kent was really fun. Those were some tough lifts that Sonya put in there, and I thought Kent did a great job. They made a really pretty pair dancing together.
soo nice to have Dmitry back!! His choreography is always young, sexy and hip. I thought Lauren and Robert did a really good job. I had this flashback while watching this of Danny and Lacey from S3 (also choreographed by Dmitry) and I’m pretty sure Robert wore the same thing as Danny, just in colors instead of all black. At least Dmitry’s consistent! Anyway, really enjoyed the dance, I thought they really sold it.
I never thought I’d see an all-male paso. interesting. I think from the moment the camera zoomed in I knew that Chike was gonna take this one. his movements had more force behind them, he really pushed himself with this one. His felt like natural powerful movements, I felt like Jose was trying too hard.
That stepping routine was pretty sick. Kudos to Twitch for stepping in (wasn’t he in Stomp the Yard 2? I think they do stepping in that so at least he was somewhat familiar with the style). I thought Kent did a really really good job. Someone mentioned Alex and Twitch being a better match body wise, which definitely makes sense. Because Kent is smaller than Twitch, some of his moves seemed a little wild, but it worked for him somehow.
I know I didn’t look at all the routines, but it’s 1AM and I’m tired! Great night of dancing.
I thought last night’s episode was great. I really wish they would have Kenny Ortega as a judge more often. He kept it fresh and unbiased, which the show really needs.
The comtemporary for me was “meh”, I guess I’m more into classical comtemporary. I’m kind of getting tired of the choreographers “dumbing” down the piece in order for Jose to dance it though. This is supposed to be a dance competition and they are not doing him any favours; how is he supposed to grow? If this is truly what Jose wants he needs to sign up for ballet, ballroom etc in order to improve. I wish him nothing but good luck in his future dance career but I don’t think he should have gotten this far in the competition.
The Stepping performance. I was soooooo excited and looking forward to this choreo! I love Stepping!! Sadly, I was left a little disappointed…*sigh*. Yes, I’m about to go against everyone’s praise for Kent in this piece. I found he was lacking. He wasn’t sharp enough and to me he looked awkward. I’ll have to look at the performance again but from what I remember he just wasn’t hitting it hard enough. When he should have been stomping he looked like he was only hitting it with the balls of his feet and not the whole. I’ll leave it at that because I’m not expert but I felt let down.
Robert was amazing tonight for both perfomances. The Jazz performance was…wow for me. He was moving those hips and was tight when he needed and on the whole was very fluid. One word for that performance for me would be HAWT! Actually, the Samba he did with little Lauren was smoking as well! The boy looked like a ballroom dancer. We all know Lauren can shake it and shake it she did! LOL She was amazing tonight again as per usual.
Adichike was amazing in the hip hop with Comfort. Yay! He was praised by the judges! I’m not a big Chike fan but that performance could very well change my mind. However, I was not a fan of the Paso Doble.
Well, that’s it for my critiques from my couch…lol

I kinda agree with you about the Step routine *ducks*.
My husband hated it. And he loves Twitch. And I remarked a couple times that Kent’s turnout while stomping reminded me of Irish dancing. *ducks again*
But he definitely committed to it. And I found it to be much better than Billy’s krump. But doing it next to Twitch really revealed some of Kent’s weaknesses, IMO.
Yay for my CHIKE! So happy that he’s found a way to connect to those who weren’t convinced about him.

ALLSTARS:
LAUREN & Twitch : really liked the choreograpy, and danced well by lauren! What was shankman talking about a “weak hiphop” on her second week? I loved her number with dom!!
JOSE & Allison: i loveddd the music for this piece, and the emotion was portrayed very well. Not enough actual dancing in it for me (smart use of the edge of the stage), i feel like this piece could have been so much more if it had more dancing (and a technically stronger male dancer)
ROBERT & Lauren: this routine was okay for me, i’m usually not a huge tyce fan. I don’t know, it just didn’t do much for me..
KENT & Kathryn: super cute routine, some awesome turns and flips in there!
ADECHIKE & Comfort: really liked this routine! Nappytabs has def upped their choreo, i loved them originally in season 4 but found they kind were off and on for a few seasons, but def amazing now!! Aww i actually feel some compassion towards adechike right now (surprisingly for me as i never really have connected with him before) but i would like to give him a hug right now
SOLOS: (YAY SOLOS)
Adechike: so not impressed with his song choice, very well danced however!
Robert: LOVED this solo! (he’s only 20?! He looks so much older!)
Lauren: nice to see her dance solo, not a super memorable solo but still very good
Jose: nothing new there.. sorry jose i think it’s time to go..
Kent: he would dance to boys II men ahaha i always enjoy kents solos, although i think i did like his previous one a bit more

Lauren & Robert: Robert totally wanted to kiss lauren at the end and she pulled back haha
Adechike & Jose: adechike looked so much stronger in this, but overall i found the routine a whole lot of effects about nothing.. and sort of awkward.
Kent & Twitch: “i finally get to dance with billy freaking bell” ahahah it was no twitch and alex routine, but it was alright. Kent’s face was a tad distracting however. The dance itself was probably pretty difficult to get together (esp with twitch coming in late to learn), looveee twitch!
