Step Up 3D Steps Up!
Hey everybody. I finally saw Step Up 3D yesterday after being delayed due to hurricane season rain, which is no joke here in New Orleans. I don’t really like 3D movies, but Amanda said I had to see it in 3D to get the full effect. I’m so glad I did!
The 3D was used really well in this movie. I always find it hard to sit still during dance movies, but this time I really thought I was in the middle of everything because of how the 3D kinda jumps out at you and pulls you into the action.
Yeah, it was low on plot and what story was there was kinda silly. But, that’s not why you go to see dance movies. The plot is just a frame, an excuse, for all the wonderful dancing. And there was a lot of great dancing.
There were battles galore, a sexy tango scene and an incredibly “Singing In the Rain” – esque dance on the sidewalks and streets of New York. It was especially cool to see old favorites from Disney Channel (the only thing I watched while finishing my thesis a few years ago) and, of course, So You Think You Can Dance.
I would’ve loved to seen some girls from the show (Katee was in the tango scene, but I didn’t catch her) in real roles, like Kherington was in Fame. And I would’ve liked to have seen more of Joshua. I liked the way they used Legacy in the movie and it was absolutely fabulous to see Twitch in such a large role and only proves he’s gonna go far. The best part was being introduced to so many amazing dancers.
I hope y’all will go see it if you haven’t and if you have – write in your thoughts!
I loved this latest Step Up movie. The dancing was incredible and I fell in love with so many new faces. The use of the camcorder shots for interviews was brilliant.
But I was disappointed in a good amount of the acting. I agree that the dancing is what we pay to see, but I hope that we are traveling towards the day when we can have both. Those dancers pushed themselves every moment they were moving to the songs. I would have liked to see them be pushed in the acting aspect also.
Regardless, I still suggest everyone go see this movie- in 3D for sure!
haha told you the 3D was awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. I loved the way they used Legacy too. The battle with the light was so much fun to watch. I too found it hard to sit still too.
I loved How they used Legacy! cause he when he speaks u can hear the passion he has for dancing! Im soo glad they used him for scene’s like that! And i love how Joshua can sounds so threatening lol!
I agree, low plot, awesome dancing.. I did a complete review on my personal blog Mandy’s Mind check it out 🙂
@Glory: It was a shame they didn’t use Joshua more in the movie, but yeah was he threatening! 🙂
@Malicious Mandy: Thanks! I just read your write-up – tried to post a comment, dunno if I was successful. Basically, agreed with what you said, including how grown up Alyson Stoner is. 🙂
