The song Melanie danced to was “The Meadow”
from the New Moon Soundtrack. composed by Alexandre Desplat.
Montage of the dancers going to Vegas at the end of day 2 in Atlanta was “All In”
by Lifehouse.
What’s the name of the song on the San Francisco audition danced by a girl who was homeless?
Thanks
@CBF: It’s up now – I believe it’s “Rabbit Heart”
by Florence & the Machine. Her name is Danielle Ihle and she got through after choreography.
What’s the song that Ryan danced to? The girl who returned from getting so close last season.
Just saw it, thanks!
When the judges sang “You Light Up My Life” who was the artist singing the song?
@Lori: I think it’s the Samantha Cole
version, but I’m not 100% yet. Take a listen and let me know what you think.
What was the name of the song/artist that the stripper Ieshia Moss danced to?
I have to say Grandma Mandy taking off her belt and giving Lil C a whippin…funniest moment of the night for me.
great start hate that the storm warnings took out my sound.
there was a song that someone danced a contemporary dance to . the only word i can remember is it had the word stars in it . i don’t remember who danced to it either . it was a nice song & i need help finding it . thanks !
@leah: I haven’t been able to find it yet. I thought it would be easy, but it hasn’t been so far. A lot of the lyrics are similar to Ester Dean’s “Drop It Low”
but it’s not the same song. Anybody know?
@Amanda: Grandma Mandy was funny, especially when she was really critiquing her grandson! Yeah and giving Lil C a whupping was funny also.
@mel: Do you remember how far it was in the show? I don’t know if I can help you with those details, but look through the songs I’ve linked to contemporary dancers (YouTube ‘em) and you may find what you’re looking for.
[...] don’t forget to help us fill in the music from the Atlanta/Oakland auditions. There were some really great songs tonight, but I didn’t catch them all and maybe you can [...]
What was the name of the song playing while Leshia Moss was speaking (not dancing)? It said something like, “come on girl, get loose with it.” I have googled it and can’t find it!
Help and thanks!
I think that Ieshia’s music was a Nicki Minag…not sure which one!
Oops, Nicki Minaj. Spelled it wrong.
Sounds like her voice, but I can’t find it… hm.
Deon Lewsa (Lewis?) and Damon Bellmon–what was the song they did their “couples hip hop” routine to? Lots of guitar music in it–almost sounded Spanish with a great soul feel? I HAVE TO KNOW ;o]
What was the song during the introduction to turfing… it was kinda dubstep techno
Danielle Ihle (lost her home and dad) audition: Florence & the Machine’s “Cosmic Love”
not “Rabbit Heart”
. I remember it starting with her singing about the moon and the stars. Beautiful song.
I loved the song danced by Deon and Damon–please please..what is that song?!
Mel-Florence & the Machine “Cosmic Love”
.
ok, i know melanie moore’s audition song was ‘the meadow’, but does anyone happen to know the music that was playing when she was telling her story? i really liked that
^-^ oops guess should posted over here, anyone know the song the judges sing?
Thanks Laura. I’ve updated the post.
Blue,
version. Check it out and see if she’s right.
Emilie said above that she thought it might be Samantha Cole’s
What is the name of the song that Timothy
Joseph danced to and the artist please?
Thanks loved the music.
I can’t believe you guys are debating over who is singing “You Light Up My Life”. It’s obviously Whitney Houston’s
version!
The ‘hey hey hey’ song in the audition line is Lil Jon feat 3OH!3 – Hey
.
@leah, Barbara, Jessi W, Teresa, Alex, Katie and Sheila Rouse: All of the songs you’re looking for were composed by Levels Music Group (see the list above) and I have not yet been able to find downloads. A lot of times, SYTYCD hires composers to replace music they can’t get a license for. This happens a lot in the audition rounds in particular (Dave Tweedie and Oona, anyone) and can sometimes translate into us finding new music we really love. But we have to be patient for a little while. I’ve reached out to Levels Music Group and asked them where the songs can be downloaded and if they’ll offer downloads here on the site.
@Laura: I had this weird feeling that it wasn’t “Rabbit Heart,” but I was so sure I knew it when it played that I didn’t write anything down. Thank you for the correction!
@slowergent: Of course it is. I’m smacking my forehead now. Thank you.
@Amy: Thanks for that!
I see where it says : Ieshia Moss’s audition: *Levels Music Group’s “Shake It Low” but i cant find the song to buy, download, or listen/view anywhere. Anyone have suggestions or help please and thanks
I cant find the shake it low anywhere either, I love that song! If anyone knows how to get it Id love a copy!!
@caroline and @jodi: Read my comment up above. We’ve been through something like this before. The songs aren’t readily downloadable because they were composed to replace songs the show couldn’t license. Hopefully your comments will help demonstrate that there’s an interest in the songs and the composers will make them available. It may take a little bit, though. We’ll let you know if we find downloads and we hope you’ll let everybody else know if you find them, too!
The one song, it was a few after the Ke$ha one. The lyrics I remember are ” Don’t tell me how it feels / This is how it feels “, the woman singing had more of an airy voice.
Bob,
If you can find a youtube video of the song, that often helps us know which song you’re talking about. Plus, then readers can listen to it and see if they can help us identify it as well.
Can anyone please tell me the piano piece that was playing before Danielle Ihle’s audition (when they were explaining her story)?
There is a report that Deon and Damon’s music was a cover by the producers because they couldn’t get the broadcast rights to the music they actually used – Michael Jackson’s “Whatever Happens”
. (Like it says in the closing credits of pretty much every episode since Season 2, “Portions of the music have been edited for legal purposes.”)
@Don: For various reasons, the producers aren’t always able to license some of the audition music for the show. When that happens, they often reach out to composers and ask them to write something to replace the music the dancers auditioned to, something with the same general sound so that it will match the dancer’s movements, etc. When it happens, it can be tough to track down the music because it was often created for the show and might not be available for sale. Deon & Damon’s music on the show was by Levels Music Group and we’ve reached out to them to see where the music is available or if it can be made available.
I do like Deon & Damon’s music as well,Thanks for your effort
[...] Music Group (composers of many of your favorite songs from last week) have let us know that more of their music will be featured tonight and that the songs you’re [...]
I caught a lyric to this song, but am unable to find it. I believe a girl danced to it who came back this year after almost making it last year.
The lyric is “I will never be what you want to see now.”
Does anyone know the song? Thanks!
@Ray and everybody: Levels Music Group told us that the songs should be available on iTunes soon. We’ll have links up as soon as we can.
@Lisa: That would be Ryan Ramirez’s audition and the song is Angus & Julia Stone’s “Walk It Off” –
Maybe it’s already been said, but, the song Deon Lewsa (Lewis?) and Damon Bellmon sing is a cover of the Michael Jackson song “Whatever Happens”. LOVE that song!!!
oops, I mean *dance to (not “sing” – lol).
@Rebecca: The guys might’ve danced to “Whatever Happens” when they auditioned (and I think you’re right, they did), but FOX aired them dancing to a song composed by Levels Music Group, “Brother Brother.” It should go up on iTunes shortly and we’ll link to it when it does.
Thank you thank you thank you!! I love SYTYCD music, please keep posting
really appreciate it!
@Dana: You’re welcome! Thanks for reading the site.
Thought I’d let you know that Chyna Smith danced to Santogold’s You’ll Find a way BUT it was a remix by Switch & Graeme Sinden
. I really like Sontogold, but this remix is sublime. Thought Someone might be curious. Thanks for this site! It’s the best! I watch the shows recorded and follow along with this site up so I can see who sings the songs that I like. It’s awesome!
#Emilie@CBF: It’s up now – I believe it’s “Rabbit Heart” by Florence & the Machine. Her name is Danielle Ihle and she got through after choreography.
yeah its actually cosmic love by florence and the machine
@Karissa: I inserted a link so folks could check it out. Thanks for writing in and I’m glad you like the site! It’s a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.
@yo mamas mama: Yup, it was updated when our reader Laura pointed that out to me earlier. Thanks for your input.

Hi everybody, I was wondering if somebody knows the song in this season so you think you can dance commercial??
@Natalie S: Which commercial? if you can find a video (maybe on YouTube), I will look around and see if I can identify the song.
