Top 8 to Top 6: Power Rankings and Thoughts
It’s hard to believe that this season is almost over, the stage seems so empty with just eight dancers on the stage. This week was a Michael Jackson theme…well, just all MJ music. Jenna Dewan Tatum joined the judges this week. I really emjoyed this week and the All Stars were great as usual. Still don’t like that the All Stars have to leave the stage right after they dance. So on to the rankings.
Top 3
Ricky and Jamie: This was a great pairing and I agree with Travis, Ricky is the one to beat. I really don’t think that there is anything he can’t do. Plus it was just another simplistic dance that was just beautiful.
Zack and Makensie: Spencer said it the best Zack is just a sponge, soaking up everything he is learning and growing every week. I did enjoy the dance but in the back of my mind I was think about on of the dances in Center Stage that was danced to the same song.
Valerie and Ryan: I wasn’t too sure if she would be able to pull this off. Thankfully she did and she looked like she was having fun out there.
Middle 3
Jacque and Twitch: I loved the smoothness of this dance. I thought the style of the dance suited her and she had the attitude right as well.
Jessica and Will: While I loved the dance, I’m just not liking Jessica anymore. While she is a fantastic dancer I just feel she started off great, had a few so-so weeks and then suddenly bloosomed again. So good to see Will.
Casey and Comfort: I was quite surprised that he did as well as he did. However, it was hard not to want to watch Comfort and even the cameras seemed to do the same thing. He did connect well with her but I think he could of gotten into it just a little bit more.
Elimnated Dancers
Tanisha and Nick: I honestly had Tanisha in my top 4. I’m not sure how she how she ended up in the bottom 2. Regardless she had another great dance. I love Nick as a dancer ever since the first season.
Rudy and Allison: I had a hard time trying to watch Rudy because Allison kept draw my attention away from him. Her facial expressions we a bit too over the top for me. I did think he left on a high note.
Next weeks pairings.
Ricky and Anya
Valerie and Twitch
Casey and Makensie
Zack and FikShun: this should be fun
Jacque and Will
Jessica and Ade
I am not doing any ratings this week. I cannot believe Tanisha was sent home. WHAT? Only female dancer this year who was head and shoulders above the competition (though Jessica is catching up fast). She hasn’t put a foot wrong and has been outstanding and she gets sent home?
I think the top 4 will now be Zack, Ricky, Jessica and Valerie.
Jessica and Ricky are definites and Zack has pulled way ahead of Casey now after the last two weeks. If Valerie survived this week then nothing is going to stop her from that finale.
My favorite ROUTINES were Ricky/Jamie and Jessica/Will closely followed by Jacque/Twitch. But I think Jacque and Casey are in danger of going home next week but Zack could be in trouble because of that very mediocre broadway routine. (The only broadway routine that I actually loved over all seasons was Joshua and Katee in season 4.)
I kinda knew Valerie would be safe because she evidently has a big fan base developed while she was with Ricky. Plus she is a great dancer who has done well in almost every genre with the exception being last week.
My granddaughter will be very upset that Tanisha went home. Nick did a great job with her last night in their Stacey Tookey routine.
Even though I really was more than ready to see Rudy finally go home, I was sad for him when he broke down in tears. I think he needs time to mature and grow up but has the talent to have a successful career in dancing.

My favorite Broadway routine is still Benji and Donyelle’s from Hairspray.
I somehow missed the first 2 seasons of sytycd and only found it midway thru season 3. It is my favorite show on tv. I am sorry the season is almost over and will have to prepare for withdrawal when it ends lol.
Amanda I’m glad you mentioned Allison’s exaggerated faces in that dance. It focused too much attention on her and not enough on her partner. A rare miss-step from her.
I’m not a Rudy fan but I thought he danced it extremely well. I hated his solo however.
Very sad to see Tanisha off the show. I honestly almost don’t feel like watching the rest of the competition with her gone. If it weren’t for Zach I probably wouldn’t.
I really disliked the Comfort/Casey hip-hop. The costumes, the movements, that big dumb hokey spiderweb. A real dud.
Lovely seeing Ryan and Will again.
totally agree about the spider web hip hop….that routine may have spelled Cssey’s doom. I really love all of the all-stars and for me the season really starts when they come back on the show but let’s face it even they have off nights, and last night was no exception.
I really thought that Nigel would have read the negative comments about the all-stars having to leave the stage at the end of their numbers and take heed of the fans…however he didn’t, much to my dismay.
I lost a lot of respect for SYTCD this week. The music this season is horrible. I feel for the choreographers stuck with the new MJ songs because the studio paid for promo consideration. Then they keep parroting on about how it’s to remember MJ as an icon. You can’t bloody “remember” a song that hasn’t even be released yet.
Well Rich that may be the case for you but I watch the show for the dancing not the music.
Also if this show always used recognizable songs…Christina Perry wouldn’t be where she is today. Plus they clear music to be played and that’s not always an easy task.
Absolutely Amanda.
I never would have enjoyed Roisin Murphy’s music if I hadn’t heard it first on the show with many of Wade Robson’s pieces.
The same with the kpop song Mark used in his and Jenna’s dance last season. I still listen to that one.
