Season 8 Top 10 Thoughts and Discussion

SOOOOOO extremely happy to see Neil Patrick Harris as the guest judge. I adore him and I’m not surprised he’s a fan of the show or of Cat Deely. She cracked me up when she said, “You’re not popular at all,” after all the cheering for Neil and then told Nigel the audience didn’t have any energy left for him. Lol.

My live thoughts follow, so I guess I’ll put in a spoiler space here…

Christina Perri’s Album Lovestrong and Free Single

Hi everybody,

I’m popping my head up out of the woodwork to let you know that Christina Perri’s new album Lovestrong Lovestrong. - Christina Perri is available and includes her gorgeous song “Jar of Hearts” Jar of Hearts - Lovestrong., which we all fell in love with when it was featured on SYTYCD in Season 6.

“Jar of Hearts” got some major play on my radio and instead of getting tired of it, I liked it better and better with every listen, so I’m excited to listen to the whole album.

The first song on the album, “Bluebird,” is available as a free download. Make sure you grab it now, because free downloads tend to expire within a week.

And just cause I’ve missed everybody, here’s a link to Kat’s video of Kathryn and Billy dancing to “Jar of Hearts.” Hope it makes your day a happy one. I hope it whets everybody’s appetite for Season 8, which will premiere on the 26th OF THIS MONTH! Whooo hooo!

Christina Perri’s Working on Her CD

We’ve posted a lot about Christina Perri and her song “Jar of Hearts,” which SYTYCD helped launch to national attention.

I actually hear the song every night on my way home from work as it’s remained in the Top 5 of the radio station I listen to all the time. I think I’ve got it memorized.

So, I was really glad to read this article that goes behind the scenes with Christina and her management and talks about how “Jar of Hearts” got into Stacey Tookey’s hands, what they’re doing to get her cd finished and to keep her at the top of our lists.

I especially love this part, because I remember thinking something similar the first time I saw Christina Perri give an interview:

Chisholm says Perri impressed him by being “totally prepared” for all the major-label wining and dining. “She holds herself well, and she’s very poised,” he says. “It all happened very fast-from initial interest to a deal took about two weeks.”

Check it out!

Top SYTYCD Music of 8/1-8/8

We’re almost near the end of the Season 7 and we’ve seen a lot of great music. Last week, I listed the Top SYTYCD Music during the previous week and I’m doing it all over again here and now.

Top SYTYCD Music of 8/1-8/8:
1. DeVotchka’s “How It Ends” – How
2. Anouk’s “Lost” – Lost
3. Basement Jaxx ft. Kelis, Meleka and Chipmunk’s “Scars” – Scars
4. Kosheen’s “Hide U” – Hide
5. Lissie’s “Everywhere I Go” – Everywhere
6. Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope” – Tightrope
7. Tom McRae’s “You Only Disappear” – You
8. My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult’s “Wasted Time” – Wasted
9. Astor Piazolla’s “Oblivion” – Oblivion
10. Roisin Murphy’s “Sinking Feeling” – Sinking

And your lagniappe:
11. Michael Andrews ft. Gary Jules’s “Mad World” – Mad
12. Telepathe’s “Lights Go Down” – Lights [Due to special circumstances, I accidentally left this one off the list. It’d actually be #10, but I’m gonna stick in as 9.5]
13. Lil Jon and LMFAO’s “Outta Your Mind” – Outta
14. Black Gold’s “Shine” – Shine
15. Kate Earl “Impossible – Impossible, also from my suggested music post
16. Katie Thompson’s “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” – Heaven
17. David Guetta and Kelly Rowland’s “When Love Takes Over” – When
18. Florence + the Machine’s “The Drumming Song” – Drumming
19. Project Jenny, Project Jan ft. So Percussion’s “You Said” – You from my “I Hear Music” suggested music post
20. Melissa Etheridge’s “Fearless Love” – Fearless

I know my lagniappe doubled the main list this week, but the second half of this list were all pretty close, so I just had to include them all.

I’m surprised that Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” Jar isn’t on the list this week, since it’s been high up there for so long. But I am surprised to see two songs from my suggested list are still so popular with y’all.

In that vein, look for a super-secret mondo post next week, after the finale and the last Top SYTYCD Music post of Season 7.

And, of course, you can check out all Season 7’s music here.
