Stand out Dancers on SYTYCD 6
Written by: JohnToday I was thinking about the SYTYCD 6 top 10. It’s really one of my favorite parts of any season since I love to see things mixed up. The new pairings are always interesting to see. Plus, dancers that were relying on their partners are exposed or revealed as stars of their own. Of course, it’s always great to get the judges out of the voting and leave it up to America’s votes. I don’t always agree with America, but they/we usually do a pretty good job.
As I was considering the SYTYCD top 10 I was trying to think which dancers would be my favorites. I think it’s a bad sign that I mostly remember those dancers that were in trouble. Is it because the other dancers have had so few wow moments for me? This is really odd for me since I have actually loved the choreography and performances the past few weeks. I just wonder why none of the dancers have really stood out for me. Does anyone else feel this way?

Noelle Marsh Before SYTYCD
Written by: EmilieI want Ariana to come back so much – but it would be at the expense of Noelle Marsh, due to her injury (and who knows if she’d be allowed to come back later since she didn’t really get to compete in the Top 20). So I thought I would remind myself why I like Noelle Marsh, too, and I watched this YouTube video of her dancing with another dancer named Karla Allen. Enjoy!

SYTYCD Top 20 Music
Written by: EmilieI’m so excited to see the new Top 20. Who will excite me as much as Jeanine and Evan and Phillip and Janette and Ade and Randi and Jason and Kayla and Kupono Brandon and Caitlin and Melissa? Also, I can’t wait to see how accurate Margaret’s spoilers turn out…
I have a feeling I’ll need LOTS of help with the music today, though.
“no montage”: “Battle”
-Colbie Caillat
David’s audition: “Touched”
-VAST
Billy’s audition and progress: “To Build a Home”
-Cinematic Orchestra
Peter’s journey in Vegas: “Walking on Air”

There wasn’t many new songs in this episode – guess they must’ve taken pieces of songs and used them all over, cause there were just a few.

SYTYCD Season 6’s Vegas Week Begins!!
Written by: EmilieThis is what I’ve been waiting for! Who are you looking forward to seeing again in Vegas? I’ll tell you some of my favorites and ask John and our other writers (and YOU!) to chime in with theirs. As folks have pointed out in comments recently, you can’t always predict who’ll get to the Top 20 or go to the very end when the auditions are over. It’s not always the best dancers who get the most camera time up till this point. And then – WHAM! – a Jeanine just grabs your attention and holds onto it.
Well, let’s see how we do predicting early favorites anyway. I’m going to try to limit myself to two dancers from each city.
Emilie’s Early Favorites List
L.A.: Mollee Gray and Paula van Oppen
Phoenix: Allison Becker
Boston: Teddy Tedholm and Channing Cook
Atlanta: Jessica Jensen and Thomas Hamilton (this one was pretty hard)
New Orleans: Jakob Karr and Diana Drexler
Salt Lake City: Hayley Cloud, Megan Kinney and Leigh Asay (I gave myself 3 here since I only had 1 for Phoenix)
I was a bit prejudiced in favor of the girls. Only three guys took my top slots. And there are 152 dancers going to Vegas, so as John pointed out, we’ve probably only seen half of them.
John? What about you? Who are your early favorites?

Written by: EmilieThere’s no way Salt Lake City audition music can top the New Orleans audition music. But it can try and I’ll enjoy the attempt…
In the line: ”Move Like You Gonna Die Soon”
-Cobra Starship
Bryan Boyer (b-boy with the short red hair with black stripe): “Everyone Nose”
-N.E.R.D.
Tristy Mirci (25 car accidents in 3 years) interview: “Stickshifts and Safety Belts”
-Cake
Tristy Mirci audition: “Already Gone”
-Kelly Clarkson
Hayley Cloud (orange shirt, herniated disk – my favorite so far): “I Just Don’t Love You Anymore”
-Jann Arden
Megan Kinney (Caitlin, from last season’s, sister, they went to Vegas together): “Everybody Knows”
-Elizabeth & the Catapult (I just knew it!)
Genise Ridiaz (pink shorts, curly hair): also “Everybody Knows,” (which could have been the Sharon Robinson version, but wasn’t
)
Montage of the girls: “Tik Tok”
-Ke$ha
Ariana Rowley (burlesque dancers with Voodoo Darlings) interview: “Lady Marmelade”
-Bruce Johnson
Ariana Rowley strip routine: “Something Sweet Now” -Dave Tweedie & Oona Garthwaite (you know the deal – we’ll post a link when one’s available)
Iveta Lukoslute (Lithuanian blonde, “money growing on trees”): “Have You Ever Been in Love”
-Celine Dion
Choreography: “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)”
-Pitbull
Vegas montage: “Say (Half Past Nine)” -Hot Chelle Rae (Here’s the song on YouTube till we can find a download)
2nd day, in line: “Hummingbird”
-Born Ruffians
Pascal Nayigiziki (really delusional spasm dancer): “Weight of the World” -Dave Tweedie & Stephen Bradley
Couple montage: “Partners in Crime”
-Poets & Pornstars (not “Wherever We Go”
-Newsboys like I thought at first)
Ashleigh & Ryan Di Lello (married couple, former competitors) interview: “You Are the Best Thing”
-Ray LaMontagne
Ashleigh & Ryan Di Lello audition: “Poker Face
-Lady GaGa
Leigh Asay & Josh Murillo (she lost a toenail, auditioned before and he pulls faces): “Just Dance”
-Lady GaGa
Vegas montage: “I’m Alive” -Tina Parol (not on iTunes, but try her song “Who’s Got the Money”
in the meantime).
Alright, so there was a lot of really good music in this audition episode. But I missed some of it, especially the montages (girls, going to Vegas, 2nd day opener), so I need all the help I can get.
You can see all the SYTYCD music listed here.

This is the last audition episode. While they’ve been fun (especially New Orleans), I’m excited to move on to Vegas week tomorrow night. Will Salt Lake end the Season 6 auditions with a hoot or a holler?

As most of our readers know, we’ve been listing all of the music from SYTYCD season 6. In fact, we’ve been doing it for a couple seasons. One of my favorite things to do now is to list the most popular music from the latest season of SYTYCD. It’s definitely not a perfect science, but the following is the top 20 songs from the sixth season of So You Think You Can Dance (up until now).
If It Kills Me
by Jason Mraz
First Love
by Adele
Your Hands
by JJ Heller
Elephant In the Room
by Richard Walters
Infinity
by Guru Josh Project
Take a Look At Me Now (Against All Odds)
by The Postal Service

by Katie Thompson
Always Midnight
by Pat Monahan
I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)
by Pitbull (was this played again on Season 6 or people still buying it from Season 5?)
Potrero Road
by The Mother Hips
Beggin’
by Madcon
To Build a Home
by The Cinematic Orchestra
Can’t Help Falling in Love
by Ingrid Michaelson
The Dance
by Charlotte Martin
Touched
by VAST

by Katy Perry
Brass Knuckles
by Living Things
This Time
by John Legend
Reasons to Love You
by Meiko
Wasted Time
by Me’Shell Ndegeocello
Check back tonight as we work to list the final SYTYCD audition music from the Salt Lake City auditions.
