“Burn the Floor” heats up Chicago during the SNOWPOCALYPSE

As they say in the performing arts world: “The Show Must Go On” The Show Must Go On - Queen: Greatest Hits I & II

There were predictions hitting towards two feet of snow in parts of Chicagoland but a call to Broadway in Chicago confirmed what most businesses, stores and restaurants would not do in downtown Chicago… the show was open and was going to go on as scheduled. Granted, considering how quickly the temperature rose during the first number of the show “Ballroom Beat” (YouTube clip) this came as little surprise to those in attendance. When the first beats of the African rhythm filled the auditorium, you knew it was going to be hot. Dancers appeared throughout the auditorium, in the balcony, in the aisles… dancing and shaking to the rhythms before jumping onto the stage for an amazing opening number.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

Australian Replacement Don’t Stop Believing Axed Before Production

As we heard earlier this year that So You Think You Can Dance was axed due to poor ratings. Well, I just heard last week the replacement program Australia’s Don’t Stop Believing has been canned before production of Auditions strated due to poor ratings in the U.K.

Was this the right idea for Ten to axe SYTYCD Australia here share your anger and thoughts here.

Here’s the official news:
EXCLUSIVE: Network TEN has pulled the pin on Don’t Stop Believing, its all-singing, all-dancing spectacular that was due to launch in 2011.

The Glee-inspired production was originally planned to kick off the ratings year for TEN, but was recently pushed back by several months amid network uncertainty.

TEN has since decided not to proceed at all, despite a lavish production number staged before sponsors at its 2011 launch in Sydney and Melbourne.

The cancellation of the Shine-produced series follows its failure in the UK, hosted by Emma Bunton.

TEN has also been watching the performance of The X Factor, which is belatedly beginning to pick up steam. But the money paid for the show has not met market expectations. While TEN is working in a changing environment under shareholders Jamie Packer and Lachlan Murdoch, it is determined to start the year off from a strong position.

Don’t Stop Believing brought together vocal groups of varying sizes and ages in a live performance designed to capitalise on the success of shows such as Glee, High School Musical and Hairspray. It was also including a resident troupe of singers and dancers. Without Australian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Don’t Stop Believing, TEN is now without a local performance show in the musical genre.

TEN commissioned the production before the UK series began, where it fell victim to falling ratings after being moved from its timeslot due to sporting commitments by Five.

David Mott, Chief Programming Officer had previously said of the show, “Don’t Stop Believing is a joyous format and a perfect fit for the big entertainment, feel good direction TEN has been heading for the last few years.

“We have had incredible success in identifying and airing excellent high impact performance shows and this is bigger and better than any we have ever undertaken.”

TV Tonight, which broke the news on the series being commissioned in July, understands auditions for vocal acts was advanced but no performers had yet been attached to the series.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte & Fiance Cameron McGlinchey – First Photoshoot with Baby Harper BTS Video

You can read the interview and see the photos of both Natalie, Cameron & Harper in this week’s OK! Magazine Australia.

Natalie revealed that she almost didn’t host the SYTYCD Finale because she was ill with doctors saying she could not do it but she refused and did it anyway.

The name Harper was inspired by the author Harper Lee the author who wrote the book ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. They were also going to use the name if the baby was a boy. Rain came from their love of rain & Sinclair was Natalie’s Mum’s maiden name

It’s a Girl for Nat Bassingthwaighte! Harper Rain Sinclair McGlinchey

SO You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte is celebrating the birth of her first child.
Bassingthwaighte, a two-time Gold Logie nominee, and her partner, Cameron McGlinchey, welcomed a daughter, Harper Rain Sinclair McGlinchey yesterday afternoon.

The child was born weighing 3.22kg at a private Melbourne hospital.

“Natalie Bassingthwaighte is a mum,” her manager, Mark Byrne, confirmed last night. “Mum and daughter are both perfect.”

The safe arrival of their tiny bundle of joy caps an exciting few months for Bassingthwaighte and McGlinchey.

The couple announced their engagement last month after a four-year romance, and they have been eagerly awaiting parenthood, with the popular singer, host and actor revelling in her pregnancy.

“Starting a family is one of my biggest goals,” Bassingthwaighte said in November.

“I would love that, it would complete everything.”

Bassingthwaighte and McGlinchey started dating in 2006 after meeting when she joined electro-pop group the Rogue Traders. He was the drummer.

“For us, it was always about the time being right,” McGlinchey said of parenthood in May.

“Now the time is right.

“It’s an opportunity to bring something good into the world.”

I think Harper is a beautiful name but not too sure about Sinclair for a middle name it sounds too much of a surname

SYTYCD AU – If Emilie Had Her Way

I just watched the Top 8 Results for SYTYCD Australia, which I’ve been really, really loving. It’s getting me excited for America’s SYTYCD Season 7 coming up next month.

If I had my way, here’s how it would break down for the Australia results (let’s hope Australia hears me since not only can’t I vote, but I won’t be able to see the dancing till Sunday, likely).

Top 6 Results: Jess S. and Nick leave.

Top 4 Results:

#4: Robbie

#3: Phillippe (aaaaaah, I’d want him to be #2, but…)

#2/#1: Either Jessie or Ivy. I just have NO IDEA which of these two I’d want to go further. Ivy’s been my fav from the beginning, but I’ve grown to love Jessie soooo much over this season.

McPhee? Other SYTYCD AU fans? What do you say? Is *my* way the *right* way, in your opinion? Well, regardless, I’m excited to see the dancing.
