Erik “Silky” Moore Talent Show Perfomance Before SYTYCD

I couldn’t believe this video when I saw it. I thought for a second that this was Brandon Bryant and not Erik “Silky” Moore the tapper. I wondered if I was confusing videos. Well, I was wrong. Watching this video along with his audition, there’s no doubt that Erik “Silky” Moore has more than enough dancing talent to do all sorts of styles. Check out the video of Erik “Silky” Moore winning a talent show to the ending monologue from American Beauty.

Here’s another highlight video of Erik “Silky” Moore. This really does an amazing job of showing the incredible talent that he has in all sorts of styles. He has strength, technique, tricks, and style. Incredible stuff. As a side note, this video comes from what looks like Erik Moore’s (Silky) youtube channel.

I figured I might as well post the Erik “Silky” Moore audition on So You Think You Can Dance 2009 for comparison as well.

Lots more videos of Erik “Silky” Moore, but that’s enough for tonight. More later when he makes the So You Think You Can Dance top 20.

Kayla Radomski Before So You Think You Can Dance

I predicted Kayla Radomski would be part of the So You Think You Can Dance top 20 as soon as I saw her start dancing. She was refined and beautiful to watch. I could see it almost immediately. Now check out the videos of Kayla Radomski and you’ll see why she has got to be one of the most talented dancers on this season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Kayla Radomski dancing with Misha Gabriel when Kayla was really young (I’m guessing about 10 years old). It’s awesome watching such a young girl keep up with the older people. I guess Kayla has some natural talent to build on. Quite the gem.

This video of Kayla Radomski doing a photo shoot for “Ice Princess” is pretty incredible The final pictures are just pure art.

Another gem of a video of Kayla Radomski dancing for Brian Friedman’s advanced class at The Pulse.

Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun Talk About SYTYCD 2009

Turns out that Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun already seem to have a rather nice fan following from their previous appearance on So You Think You Can Dance. I mentioned in one of my other posts that I agreed with the judges about Asuka being a really special dancer and a few people told me that they really loved Ricky. Good news for Ricky.

Fans of Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun will enjoy this video of them after last year’s SYTYCD auditon. It’s nice to see Ricky actually get a chance to talk. It’s very true that I haven’t seen many asian ballroom dancers, but these two are really wonderful to watch.

Amanda Kerby SYTYCD 2009 Audition

Not only is Amanda Kerby a great storyline (her dad has MS), but I really think that Amanda Kerby is likely to make it to the SYTYCD top 20. She has the look, she has the story and she dances very well. Ok, that’s not true. She has more than the look. She’s quite possibly the prettiest dancer they’ve had on SYTYCD. What I loved most about Amanda’s dancing is she created some really interesting angles with her body as she was spinning. I love seeing things I hadn’t really seen before and she did that for me.

Nathan Trasoras SYTYCD 2009 Audition

I love how Nigel took the time to have Nathan Trasoras audition on SYTYCD 5. It’s a perfect way to promote So You Think You Can Dance season 6. Plus, he was a great performer and makes for great television.

I’m surprised, because usually there’s a whole plethora of guys like Nathan Trasoras on SYTYCD, but we haven’t seen that many so far. We’ll see how many made it to Las Vegas that we just haven’t seen yet. All of this aside, Nathan Trasoras is going to be fun to watch on SYTYCD 6.

Asuka Kondoh & Ricky Sun SYTYCD 2009 Audition

The camera does like Asuka. You had to know she was a shoe in for Las Vegas after having been there already. Still is a lot of fun to see her audition again. I must admit that I’m a little surprised at the lines that Asuka is able to create. Asians have such small frames. I wonder if she’s really short and how she’d look alongside someone who’s taller. Either way, Ricky and Asuka were both nice dancers.

The thing that Asuka has more than Ricky is the little nuances that attract people to her. The little roll of the shoulder acting shy, the twist of the hips, etc. Some people are just have that quality that attracts you to them. Although, it’s also a quality that may make a bunch of girls hate her. We’ll see how that plays out.

Kelsea Taylor “Beautiful Disastrous Weirdo” SYTYCD 5 Audition

UPDATE: The full version of Oona’s “Tore My Heart” that Kelsea danced to is now on iTunes Oona - Tore My Heart - Single - Tore My Heart

Kelsea Taylor is what makes SYTYCD special to me. She’s a unique personality that brings a unique dance style that kind of stretches the movements we’re use to seeing in dance. Someone that can do that is really special.

Many have been asking about what music was used for Kelsea Taylor. After much looking, we could update the LA audition music. Kelsea Taylor (45105) danced to “Tore My Heart” by Oona and Dave Tweedie (So far I can only find it available on Myspace and now a free MP3 download here) Reportedly, the song was originally “Habanera” Kate Nash - Foundations - EP - Habanera by Kate Nash, but had to be swapped due to copyright issues.

It’s always interesting when they decide to swap songs. Copyright issues are tough and sometimes expensive. I think you could also tell the music was swapped since she finished dancing and the music kept going. Would be interesting to see someone overlay the Kate Nash Habanera song with the video of Kelsea Taylor below. Read more..

Kayla Radomski So You Think You Can Dance 2009 Audition

Kayla Radomski is a really great dancer. As soon as I saw her dance, I sent a tweet saying that Kayla Radomski was going to make the So You Think You Can Dance 2009 top 20. Watching her performance again, I don’t see any reason to change my opinion. Kayla has the look. Kayla has the story. Kayla has the technique. Kayla has the personality. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of Kayla Radomski in the future.

Kayla Radomski danced to “Blackbird” by Unknown

The best part of the video is when Kayla Radomski’s grandma screamed at the end and Nigel told her to stop. That was funny.

Saalim “Storyboard” Muslim and his partner Habby “Hobgoblin” Jacques (“Mutation”) So You Think You Can Dance 2009 Audition

There’s no doubt that “Mutation” was unlike anything that had ever been on the So You Think You Can Dance stage. I was glad that Saalim “Storyboard” Muslim and his partner Habby “Hobgoblin” Jacques got to go through to the choreography. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nigel were to bring them and possibly their crew back for one of the SYTYCD 2009 results shows as special guest performers. That would be fun to see.

Brandon Bryant SYTYCD 2009 Audition

Ok, so the crying by Mary was so over the top. No doubt Brandon Bryant is a great dancer. His choreography was great as well. His dancing matched the song. He has a strong chance at the SYTYCD 2009 top 20. Brandon Bryant will be one that’s fun to watch in Las Vegas.
