Tonight was the final performance show of the season.
This was energetic, hard hitting and fun. I really enjoyed watching it and thought it was a great start to the show.
This was a powerful piece about a chance encounter between past lovers who relive a moment. I thought it was moving and pretty. There was a near-miss on a lift that scared me but they recovered well.
This had some serious lifts, twists, spins and tricks. BOTH of them did some crazy flips and it ended with an amazing one-legged lift by Shane pulling Melissa over him, amazing!
“What About Us” – ATB
This was, hands down, my most favourite routine of the season, and maybe ever. It was absolutely crazy-good. I will post it for everyone to see because it truly was THAT awesome!
After the girl’s routine this simply wasn’t up to par. It was fun, the guys did lifts and tricks and moved well, but the girl’s was just that much better! Christian really stood out fo rme in this routine.
Another amazing solo from Shane. I really find him the strongest of the male dancers.
She was amazing, so much power and energy, when she dances she commands attention. She has been consistently great this whole season and I will not be surprised if she wins.
Easily the most growth this season. Her solo showed such maturity and commitment, I had goosebumps watching her dance.
For me the most improved male dancer. I am surprised he is still around over some of the other dancers, but he is holding his own and his solo was very good.
I often forget he is ballroom because he really does so well in every genre thrown at him. I appreciated his upbeat solo that was ballroom but very fluid and fun.
Jordan was my pick to win since auditions. I adore her and I will stick to my decision for her to win, her solo was amazing, her dancing all season has been consistently great.
This is tough. I am ultimately voicing my predictions for the win….
Since day ONE I have been a Jordan fan, and even though Melissa has quickly crept up on (and at times even surpassed) Jordan, I am going to stick with Jordan to win. Melissa a close second (or if I am wrong, Melissa will win and Jordan a close second) I guess there are two ways to do this – MY OPINION and what I THINK CANADA’S OPINION WILL BE….
1 – Jordan
2 – Melissa
3 – Lindsey
4 – Shane
5 – Christian
6 – Matt
Prediction based on Canada’s Votes:
1 – Melissa
2 – Jordan
3 – Christian
4 – Matt
5 – Lindsey
6 – Shane
WHY ARE THEY SO DIFFERENT?
Because, I think Canada, like USA SYTYCD, sometimes gets it wrong, or some dancers simply have more fan support for whatever reason. This is why the “winner” is called “favourite dancer” not “best dancer” at the end.
We often see the same fantastic dancers keep getting bottom 3, while some less talented dancers stick around week after week. Every season of every SYTYCD it happens. Of course, we all have different opinions on what we like, but that is how it goes.
For example, I think Joey should be in the finale, within Top 3 to be honest, but he is gone. I also thought Denitsa stuck around way too long. I could go on, but I won’t.
For the Comments….

FINALE – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2011 on CTV
Tonight was emotional…. I have to go through the results as they happened so you can fully understand the rollercoaster my brain went through…..
It was fun and sexy, I liked the voguing/tutting portion and the end with the chairs the best.
What was frustrating about tonight was that all the dancers did their solo’s, even though Leah was clear that it wouldn’t change the results as in the Top 10 it was all votes. I felt with only a half hour show it was really lame. They all came out, were sent back, did solo’s, came back out for results…. Can you say time wasting?
Anyways, the results were as follows:
Sent home. No surprise here to be honest, I am shocked she lasted this long
Jean-Marc said he was “joining Denitsa, but not right now” lame. Needless to say he stays and was on the floor ecstatic.
Tre asked her to “leave the stage…. to dance next week” Another lame psych-out, they really annoy me to be honest, especially poorly executed ones. Jordan was in tears!
Sent home. I wasn’t too shocked, I feel he comes across too cocky – him and his abs ha ha
Jean-Marc pointed out that he had never been in the bottom 3 but there was a first time for everything…. but not tonight – utter shock…. He stays over Shane? wait… HUH?
Is going to finale… over Melissa? wait… WHAT?
So I am raging… literally angry at Canada that Shane and Melissa aren’t in the finale when Jean-Marc announces the finale will not be Top 4….. but Top 6……
I swear if Melissa and Shane had actually been sent home I would rage, boycott, freak! Besides Jordan those are my favourite two dancers!
Anyways, to make it clear….
Denitsa and Adam went home.
The rest go on to the Top 6 Finale, which is fine because to be honest, I didn’t know they planned to narrow it to a top 4 tonight… I don’t think they even know what they are doing half the time to be honest ha ha!
So… for the comments:
- Thoughts on who went home?
- Thoughts on the finale 6 vs finale 4 decisions?
- Thoughts on the Vogue routine?
- Thoughts on the “psych-out” judges do on SYTYCD repeatedly?
I apologize for this post being delayed, and I further apologize as I have not seen the episode yet because I got caught up tonight after a long day and went to the movies with a friend.
I probably won’t get to watch before tomorrow results so PLEASE use the comments below to rank the performances and predict the results.
Tonight the TOP 8 Performed:
Here is the break down of the show:
Tomorrow Night is Results as well as a group performance choreographed by Sean Cheesman – Can’t wait!
PLEASE post your thoughts on tonight’s performance below…
I will do a post tomorrow on the results as well as my thoughts / ranking (I plan to watch BOTH episodes tomorrow after work)
I apologize for not listing the bottom 3 or who I thought would go home in last night’s performance show post.
I wasn’t entirely sure how it would look because of the individual voting, also, I was pretty tired from driving 5 hours in the rain on scary highways from Kamloops to Vancouver.
Here is tonight’s results.
This was awesome. They all looked nude, wrapped in tape. It was really well choreographed and danced. I will post it once I find it on YouTube.
Lindsey – Safe
Denitsa – Not Safe
Yulia – Not Safe
Melissa – Not Safe *gasp*
Jordan – Safe
Christian – Not Safe
Shane – Safe
Francois – Not Safe
Adam – Not Safe
Matt – Safe
Yulia – Not sure the song
She had feathers all over her outfit, danced like a bird and looked kind of strange to me. ANother we have seen too often “dance for her life”
Melissa – “Swans” – Uncle Bob
Shocked to see her in the bottom, but Jordan was there once also. I thought it would be Lindsey or Jordan only because we needed a bottom three. Was nice to see her solo, such talent!
Christian – Not sure the song
Danced amazingly well as I imagined he would.
Francois – Not sure the song.
He danced well. I didn’t expect him in the bottom based on last night but based on the whole season so far it didn’t surprise me.
In the end it was Yulia & Francois who went home.
It is going to be tough next week as we get down to the best of the best, or Canada’s most favourite!
Lindsey, Jordan, Melissa are so talented! Denitsa is also, but I think she is a one-trick show for the most part. I would LOVE Jordan to take it but I think Melissa may.
For the men, at this point, I feel bad saying that they all blur together still. I mean Shane is the clear front-runner for me, but Christian, Adam and Matt are all very talented, I would have a tough time putting one miles ahead of the others. I just feel Shane is amazing!
Who are your bets to take it all the way?
Side Note: It drives me NUTS when Leah Miller says “Why are you so…” last night she said it so many times.. “Why are you so good?” or “Why are you so in shape?” and “Why do you have to stop?” I can’t stand her! She comes across so condescending! Between her and Jean-Marc I almost can’t stand watching the show! I usually just watch the dances and maybe a guest judge or two, thank goodness for PVR (fast-forward the annoying parts)
Last Night Leah Miller:
Tonight’s judges were Jean-Marc, Tre Armstrong, Stacey Tookey and Mary Murphy.
Tonight the dancer’s had new partner’s as well as solo’s to perform as we start voting for individual’s not couples this week.I think this will really show us who Canada likes and not mask poor dancers with partner’s who are favourites.
*CTV Has more photos that are amazing*
I know not everyone will agree with me but this routine was sexy and amazing. The start with one on each side of the wall yet still in sync, the spins and back flips and all that skin. It was sexy and my favourite of the night, but I think Canada may place them lower than I do.
2. Shane & Melissa
Hip Hop – Luther Brown
“The Time” – Black Eyed Peas
I really loved this routine also, but hip hop sometimes scores lower with Canada’s votes. Melissa got her 6th standing ovation from the judges and she really worked this routine hard.
3. Lindsey & Adam
Contemporary – Blake McGrath
“Remember When it Rained” – Josh Groban
This was an amazing routine. It was my favourite when it came on but after the whole episode I felt stronger about the Hip Hop and Jazz routines, though I could be wrong. Honestly, all three of these routines were just absolutely fantastic!
4. Yulia & Matt
Contemporary – Sabrina Matthews
“My Love” – Sia
I love this song and was impressed with Yulia despite her uncomfortableness with the routine. The fact is, to go further she needs to be able to step outside her genre, and she really doesn’t do that well. Tonight was good, but I think others were better.
5. Denitsa & Francois
Mambo – Gustavo Vergas
“Bemba Colora” – Ceilia Cruz
There were some nice moments and they are both ballroom so it was well done, but it was the first dance of the night, and not that memorable. Denitsa’s scarf didn’t come out and she almost dropped the one Francois threw to her to use. There was great partnering but overall it was just not as memorable or entertaining as the others.
Now for Solo’s, I don’t actually like the dancers in this order at all, but based JUST on what I saw tonight here are my thoughts…
1. Shane: David Guetta ft. Chris Willis’s “Love is Gone” –
2. Francois: Jackie Wilson’s “Reet Petite” –
3. Adam: The Bee Gees’s “You Should Be Dancing” –
4. Christian: Max Sedgley’s “Happy (Spiritual South Go Happy in Rio Remix)” –
5. Matt: Hedley’s “For the Nights I Can’t Remember” –
1. Melissa: The Cinematic Orchestra’s “To Build a Home” –
2. Lindsey: Katie Thompson’s “It Doesn’t Hurt” –
3. Jordan: Adele’s “Hometown Glory” –
4. Denitsa: Guem et Zaka Percussion Ensemble’s “Le Serpent”
5. Yulia: Peggy Lee’s “Fever” –
PLEASE comment with your thoughts, I could be way off, but based on tonight’s show this is how I feel. I do not know how the eliminations will go tomorrow, but I will post results tomorrow
I am in Kamloops BC for a conference at work so I am not certain if/when I will get to watch the Top 10 perform, however, I wanted to make sure I posted this as a place to hear your feedback and power rankings.
I really loved last week’s comments and personal rankings – it’s awesome hearing what other fans think.
Here are you Top 10 dancers:
So with that being said, I promise to update this as soon as I am able and in the mean time – leave your comments and thoughts below…
This was choreogrpahed by ShoTyme and features the Top 12 last week on SYTYCD Canada’s Performance Show.
I really liked the routine overall, especially since there is not a single Hip Hop Dancer left in the group…
They also did a Top 12 group routine choreographed by Jean-Marc & his wife on the Results Show:
Which do you like better? Isn’t it typical for Jean-Marc to have such a sexy routine?
I am excited to see what the Top 10 will bring Monday Night!!
CTV spoke to the Top 10….
The Season 4 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Top 10 describe in one word how they feel about making the Top 10 and also share their favourite moment in the competition so far:

The opening number featured the Top 12 dancers doing a routine choreographed by Jean-Marc and his wife . The ides was mobster women controling the men. I was pretty sexy and fun.
Melissa & Adam – safe
Jordan & Francois – safe
Lindsay & Christian – in danger
Geisha & Joey – in danger
Denitsa & Matt – safe
Yulia & Shane – in danger
These results were not too surprising, but I really thought Geisha and Joey did well last night.
Amazing to see her dance her solo, stunning!
A regular in the solo’s. She did well but not mind-blowing.
Cherry Poppin’ Daddies – “Jump Jive & Wail”
Same as usual, great technique in her own style… not very good in anything else, always in the bottom and always saved by judges – Lame!
Great to see in the solo’s he is absolutely amazing to watch!
Fabulous dancer, amazing solo, I just adore him!
Really brought it in his solo, which was a surprise, I thought he would go based on the other two in the bottom.
I was shocked to see Geisha and Joey sent home. I knew Geisha or Yulia would leave, based on the number of times they have been in the bottom, but Joey? I am stunned! He is amazing!
So now we have our Top 10… Jordan is still a favourite but she is being outshined by Melissa as of late. Joey was my favourite male dancer and now that he is gone… I am sad!
