So You Think You Can Dance Results Show Recap – Bye Cedric and Shauna

SHOW 313/314
7/12/07

Nobody is smarter than a fifth grader, nobody can remember the damn lyrics, so can anybody around here dance? Well, yes, of course. Although two of the people involved in this opening group number – set to “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from the Hairspray soundtrack– can’t dance well enough to stick around past this week. Hairspray! The movie based on a musical that was based on a movie!

Cat Deeley is wearing blue taffeta tonight. I think that’s taffeta. I have no idea, really, as I’m a man. Now that I think about it, I hope it’s not taffeta because I don’t want to be right on that guess. It would be…too much.

Cat then introduces the evening’s judges, Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Adam Shankman. Mr. Shankman has directed this Hairspray revival. He also helmed Cheaper By The Dozen 2, The Pacifier and Bringing Down The House. Sassy movies, all.

The first two couples come to the stage for their verdicts. Sabra and Dominic and Anya and Danny. Cat promises that one of these couples is in the bottom three. Action right up front! Last night, the judges were all completely blown away by Sabra and Dominic. The odds of Anya and Danny being in the bottom three just went from 50/50 to 80/20. And now…100/0. Anya and Danny are indeed in the bottom three.

Three more couples are on stage when we return from a break, and one couple is in trouble tonight. Lacey and Cameron get the first verdict and they are…safe. Sarah and Pasha get their recap next and they are…probably safe based on the three rave reviews they received last night. So, Cat? Well, Cat is making us wait until she talks with Shauna and Cedric. And it’s a bad talk, because Shauna and Cedric are also in the bottom three.

The last two couples come to the stage in the hopes of avoiding bottom threeage. Judging from last night’s comments, Jamie and Hok are in trouble. The votes go hand in hand with the comments and they are. So Anya, Jamie, Shauna, Danny, Cedric and Hok will be soloing for their lives.

And there they go! Okay, two of those performances were simply not good enough. But we won’t know which two until after we sit through this Hilary Duff interlude. Somewhere backstage, Hailey is flashing a toothy smile.

All right, judges, the show is yours now. Which two dancers are you putting on ice this week? Before getting to that, Nigel explains that the judges are unanimous on both cuts, but they’re all torn up about it. Because everything was so good this week, they’re basing their decision on the entire season to this point. Nigel then informs Jamie that she’s safe and tells Anya that she’s safe as well. That means it’s curtains for Shauna.

As for the men, Cedric is the odd man out. And that, as they say, is that.
