Thanks so much – beautiful! Wish I could find out if that’s what she actually danced to. Keep us posted if you find out. Thanks again!
Bonita,
The source I reference in the list of music from this show I talked to in some private emails and they sounded pretty reliable. So, I think the song was switched. Imagine if they hadn’t switched it, we’d have never gotten to know “Tore My Heart.”
John, thanks for the info. That sounds certain enough. Yeah, it was a fortuitous switch for those of us who loved the song. And it was great to be able to get a free download of it, though short. I’ve been curious about the song switching. I understand why, because of copyright issues, but I wonder how they decide what to switch it with. And I sometimes wonder if it might make the dance have less musicality for us viewers, though obviously not for the judges. It’d be nice if they’d put a little note on the screen that the song was dubbed later, just so we’d offer some extra slack to the dancer in those cases. Anyway, it’s fun to have all this extra info, so thanks. I love all your posts & tweets – I’m @bonitasmith.
I am looking for one of the audition songs that had lyrics of “I’ve got everything that I could ever need” in it. I don’t even remember who the dancers were, but it was a great upbeat song. Does anyone know the title??? Thanks!!
Bonita,
Definitely a lot to think about when you start looking how they put the show together.
gloria,
I’m not sure which one you mean, but you can find the entire list of songs from SYTYCD season 5: https://www.puresytycd.com/tag/so-you-think-you-can-dance-music/

Thank you Braidon. I knew that someone would go to the extra effort. At the end of the day:
-Kelsea’s Great!
-“Tore My Heart” is great!
-“Hananera” is great!!
I think we’re all lucky to get to know all 3 things.

How the heck did Kelsea Taylor manage to get a hold of the unreleased song in her audition?!
Also I wish she was in the Top 20. 🙁
Stud,
by Kate Nash In fact, you can see the video with her dancing to Oona and Kate Nash: https://www.puresytycd.com/2009/05/29/kelsea-taylor-beautiful-disastrous-weirdo-sytycd-5-audition/
That’s an easy one. The answer is that she didn’t get a hold of it. She didn’t actually dance to it in her audition she danced to “Habanera”
Rumor has it that SYTYCD couldn’t get the rights to the Kate Nash song and that’s when they overlayed the Oona song. Pretty amazing that her dancing matched both songs so well.
Oh yes, I wish she was in the top 20 as well. Hopefully she’ll try out again for season 6.
