SYTYCD Alum in Movie Roles
I don’t know about y’all, but I’m going through SYTYCD withdrawal a little bit. I don’t like not having a second episode this week! 🙂
This past weekend, I rented this flick called “Love N’ Dancing” and was surprised to see bitty cameos by Season 2’s Benji and Heidi and that tided me over a bit till last night’s Season 6 episode. I remember that Seasons 3’s Neil had a cute and memorable role in “American Mall” that amused me when I saw it. Maybe you can still catch Kherington in “Fame” theaters somewhere in the country.
Still, we’ll have to wait till next year to see Season 4’s Joshua, Katee and Twitch in Adam Shankman’s “Step Up 3-D” (and Season 2’s Ivan, too). 2010 will also bring the movie that Paula van Oppen turned down a place in Season 6’s Top 20 for – “Burlesque.” It sounds a bit like “Coyote Ugly,” but with a burlesque club instead of bar. Season 4’s Chelsea Traille will play a character named Coco. 🙂
Our friends at SYTYCDism mention that Katee, Kherington and Season 4’s Comfort will be on upcoming episode(s) of “Glee,” as well.
Do you know of any SYTYCD alumni movie roles I might’ve missed? Planning on seeing any of these movies? Already seen them? Lemme know what you think.
You know what I’d love best at moments like this, when I’m craving some SYTYCD? DVDs of past seasons!
Chelsea Traille is the one who’ll be in Burlesque, not Chelsie Hightower, who’s the one on Dancing with the Stars.
But I’m with you about DVD’s — I’d be the first in line to buy DVD’s of past seasons! But they can’t seem to make it happen, alas. Nigel tweeted about that subject a while back — music licensing rights are just too big an obstacle to overcome…
@Tom: Oh wow! What a slip! That was clearly a product of my NaNoWriMo-fevered imagination/wishful thinking. No offense to Chelsea Traille, but I really love the idea of Chelsie Hightower as a character named Coco. 🙂 It’ll be good to see Chelsea Traille dance again, though.
I always suspected the music was one of the biggest hinderences to DVDs. How do they manage it with American Idol, I wonder? (I think I’ve only ever seen selected “best and worsts” of previous seasons on DVDs). Regardless, they need to get this sorted so I have some comfort on my sick days. 🙂
Thanks for the catch.
Melanie LePatin and Benji Shwimmer are starring in an independent movie called ‘Leading Ladies’, Katee Shean, Kherington Payne, Courtney Galiano and Sara Von Gillen also have a small dance role in the movie.
Joshua Allen and Quest Crew are in a dance comedy called ‘Freak Dance’.
Twitch has just begun filming ‘Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming’ where he’ll be playing the antagonist.
Hi moviebuff: I’d heard about Freak Dance and Stomp the Yard 2 (Twitch as the villain!), but forgot them. Didn’t know about Leading Ladies! Thanks for mentioning them. It’ll be good to see everybody again – Courtney and Sara, especially!
Lauren Gottlieb was in Glee a couple weeks ago as part of the Vocal Adrenaline group.. the 3rd or 4th episode? i don’t know for sure which one.
Lauren had mentioned on her Twitter that she is going to be in a few of the episodes of Glee that start to air after the first of the year. Vocal Adrenaline is going to get more air time because they’ve cast Jonathan Groff, who played opposite Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) in Spring Awakening, as the lead singer of Vocal Adrenaline. Maybe they’ll be able to get some more SYTYCD alums in there, too!
Twitch was also in hairspray…no talking role but he was a dancer obviously
Lauren from season 2 was in disaster movie and bring it on: fight to the finish
Domonic aka D-trix was in Alvin & the chipmunks the squeakquel
that’s all i can think of right now
Thanks for those, Alex!
