Winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Jakob Karr
I think it’s quite clear that Jakob Karr will be the winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 6. I honestly don’t even think it’s close. I’ll be utterly shocked if he doesn’t win. Jakob is following in the long line of contemporary guys starting with Travis, then Danny, Will, and Brandon. They were all incredibly technicians and could nail the technical aspects of dancing. However, all of them on that list fell a little short in the humility and/or performance part of dancing, except for Jakob. Jakob has a wonderful appeal to him. Only Travis came close to him in that department. I’ve also been really impressed with Jakob’s engaged, but humble attitude throughout the show. I think America really responds to it and will vote him the winner of SYTYCD.
I’m amazed I’m saying this, because for some reason Jakob was near the bottom of my list of dancers at the beginning. I just could never really get into his performances. Maybe I like a little bit of rawness and imperfection in my dancers. Maybe I’m like Nigel and I like my male dancers to be more masculine (I’m sure that will make some mad, but it’s how I feel). I don’t know, I just wasn’t into him at all. I’m still not a HUGE fan of Jakob like most people, but he’s kind of grown on me. I’ll even be happy if he wins SYTYCD.
My personal biases aside, I’m willing to predict right now that Jakob Karr will be the winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 6.
I’d love to have Kathryn or Ellenore win and have female winners in back-to-back seasons, but I think you’re right.
I’d love for Kathryn to win. She’s my new favorite. However, maybe I shouldn’t say that in a public forum since selecting my favorite has been like the kiss of death this season.
It’s also going to be interesting that Jeanine’s best friend (Jakob) is the winner.
Yes, I´ve been predicting this for a while. He´s obviously the fan favorite.
I think if I were on tour watching them, who would i scream for the most?

Sadly I agree. Jakob will win. I don’t really want him to because he’s not my favorite. He is phenomenal, but not my favorite.
My favorite would be Kathryn or Ashleigh. Kathryn’s been amazing since START but Ashleigh has just surprised me every week. And how beautiful was she last night with minimal makeup? Gorgeous. Drop that scary lipstick girl, you DON’T need it.
The question is: Who would win if each voter could only cast one vote? That’s a completely different story. I’ll be loading my favorite up with votes (and maybe tossing a couple extra to the near-favorites)

Only 1 vote? Then it would be easily Jakob for me and my wife. We both agree that watching him dance is amazing. I haven’t watched this shown from the beginning, but to me he stands well above even the better contemporary dancers from the past couple seasons (Will, Kayle, Brandon…).
I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if Kathryn, Russel, or even Legacy or Ashleigh won though. They have all been good.
I understand all the opinion about Jakob..I’m not an American, Of course I don’t have a right for vote..but! I want to ask you that…Did you really enjoy his solo? Did you really think that his waltz and broadway were better than other guys dances?
I don’t think so..Just remember who was the winner in season 2..It wasn’t Travis..It was Benji!

I actually agree with you. I like some other people better. I actually hope that Kathryn turns out to be the Jeanine of last season. However, Jakob just seems to be a fan favorite as Mel said.
One reason I think Jakob will win is because if he didn’t win, he’d be just as kind and happy for whoever did win. That’s what makes him different than all of the other similar dancers from season’s past.
Jakob is the reason I think there should be two winners, the top girl and guy. Part the reason I say this well I do want Kathryn to win(that shouldnt be a surprise) but Jakob is just incredible(if Billy Bell didnt get sick Jakob would have some competition). The other just simply being that they dance in pairs more than the do solo. Just a thought and Katee did get a prize for being the top girl.
Jakob wasn’t one of my favorites during auditions, but he’s blown me away this season!
The masculinity issue is one I pay attention to because it came up when I was casting a show once. An excellent dancer didn’t get a role because we were casting football players and no matter what direction we gave him we couldn’t get him to lose his very feminine characteristics.
However, Jakob hasn’t struck me as having problems of that sort this season. Sometimes I couldn’t buy Victor in some of his dances, but Jakob’s carried off his roles well. I like Adam’s comparison to Joel Gray. Like him, Jakob’s dancing goes beyond stereotypical ideas of masculine and feminine.
I’m hoping Jakob wins, but I wouldn’t be unhappy if it was Kathryn or Russell. I’ve heard complaints that this season was ho hum, and perhaps that’s true choreography-wise, but I think these kids really have talent!!!
I strongly feel that the reason Jakob hasn’t had a bad week is because he’s lucked out in terms of styles – I simply cannot picture him doing something like hip hop or bollywood (I can’t recall him doing anything along those lines?)
I’d pick:
1. Russel
2. Jakob
3. Legacy
Ryan’s a great partner and a good guy, but not much of a dancer.
Mollee may yet be the suprise of the season – since she’s been uncoupled with Nathan she’s improved as a performer in leaps and bounds. Maybe it’s too little, too late – but I’d be dissapointed if she was to be the one to go.
I’d pick:
1. Kathryn
2. Mollee.
Elleanore just seems to be fading – or not growing. Ashleigh *will* be hurt by not dancing this week – will the fan base she’s undoubtably built over the weeks be enough to make up for not performing? Jeanette had a nasty reality check last season at this stage when she had 2 good performances but lost out because the others pulled out some stunners in the same show – Ashleigh not dancing may leave her in the same boat.
I’d still like Kathryn or Russel to win, but Jakob and Mollee both have strong fan bases. I can’t see anyone outside of those four winning.
Robin. It seems we have very similar taste in dancers. I liked yesterday when Adam and Nigel were going back and forth and Adam said, “Now we’re talking about a matter of taste.”
Seems like at this point in the competition we’re talking about a matter of taste when it comes to dancers too.
I am not a resident of the US as well, so I can’t affect the vote, but I’m hoping (and praying) Jakob will win. I love dance and watch/go see everything I can and Jakob is wonderful. If you go through the seasons, the “best” dancer has never won and for once, just once, I would like that to happen!!!
Travis was always my favourite (Canadian spelling!!) and I nearly threw something at the TV when Benji won.
I do understand that it is a popularity contest, but please voters, hope you didn’t listen to Nigel and voted for someone who can dance.
My little rant is over now, and I feel much better.
Yeah. I think it might be Jakob. But it might be Kathryn as well. I realize that there is a pattern throughout all the 6 seasons of SYTYCD. Season 6’s a little bit like season 4, with better dancers. Kathryn’s like Katee. I think Jakob definitely has this quality to him and his dancing that makes him worthy of winning the show this season. Everyone’s been going on about his lines, which are amazing. And I love what he brings to the show. He’s kind of a male version of Jeanine. Haha. So I won’t be surprised if he wins. And yeah, I’m biased too. 😀
@Robin – Jakob had “Whatcha Say”, the texting Hip Hop by Nappytabs. And he was good, but not great. As for Bollywood, we’ve had two of those this season: Nathan & Mollee and Russell & (Ashleigh).
I would have said Ashleigh and Jakub for the win…. with Elenore and Legacy in top 4 but Kathryn has astonished me, like Jeanine, coming up from nowhere…. It’s unfortunate Ashleigh essentially lost a week of performance and I am shocked she got to stay over Mollee – America is very generous, but I am glad. Bottom Line – one winner… and if it’s not Jakub i will be surprised!
And yes, one male and one female winner would be ideal each season….
I think Russell should win. He has improved so much and TWICE had to perform with out a partner, well three times if you include Wednesdays two dances. Jakob said the second or so week that Jeanie ( wrong spelling I know) was a friend of his and won, so maybe him flaunting that his giving him the big ego. I like Jakob, but I like Russell more. By the way, whats up with the top 6 finally? Why have they changed that.

Jakob is lucky to have Jeanine fans on his side I think. Although Jakob has been nothing but humble from the things I’ve seen. I still hope Kathryn wins. She’s wonderful.
I’m guessing the top 6 happened because they only wanted to have so many episodes. I’ll blame it on American Idol needing an extra episode, so SYTYCD had to stop early. Although that’s speculation.
i think its between jakob and russell, idk about kathyrn jus because i dont feel any connection wit her and her performances its like she jus dances and wen shes done shes done i jus dont see anything special about her. jakob and russell r both amazin dancers and have been great in every performance the judges love them and they both seem sweet and worth bein in the finale
John, don’t forget they added the “meet the top 20” episode. So we’re not actually losing an episode.
I’ll miss the extra week of couples, but I really liked the top 20 intro show and I can’t see that it will have any effect on who wins. If you don’t know who you want to win by now…
I must confess though that my attitude may have been different had Mollee not been cut – another two weeks of what she’s shown in the top10 and I may just have had to put her above Kathryn 🙂
I thought about the “Meet the Top 20” episode and wondered if Nigel had to make a choice between that episode and having the finale with 6 versus 4. Hard decision to make even though I think I’d choose the top 4 episode. At least they could have warned us earlier that they’d be doing a top 6. Would have softened the blow.
I liked Mollee a lot too. Her and Kathryn were my favorites.
@John – I do not live in the US so I don´t know this for sure, but what I´ve read was the ´meet the top 20´ and ´top 20 performance´ shows were in the same week. Correct? If they were to remove the ´Meet the top 20´ episode, they would still have a top 6 finale because of the same amount of weeks. Yes?
The last standing would be Jakob, Russell, and Kathryn. It would be down to those three, and one of them will win.

Possibly. They’d have definitely needed to add another show and remove the Meet the Top 20. I’m sure it was all negotiated at high levels with Nigel fighting to have as many shows as possible and having to settle for a final 6.
I think you’re right. Let’s hope A LOT of people are secretly wanting Kathryn.
