Odd and Random SYTYCD – Best and Worst Judges
It’s kinda like John secretly wrote this New York Post article, because Nigel landed at #4 on the Best Judges list and Mary Murphy is smack dab in the middle of the Worst Judges list at #3.
4. Nigel Lythgoe, “So You Think You Can Dance”
Nigel Lythgoe was behind-the-scenes on “American Idol” until 2008, when he made the move to judge “So You Think You Can Dance” (which he co-created). There, the firm-yet-fair Brit puts his school-trained dance background to good use by giving helpful advice without resorting to unnecessary snarkiness, making him the anti-Simon.
3. Mary Murphy “So You Think You Can Dance”
Between the crying and the screaming, her comments are always worthy of a fast-forward. Somebody get this judge a sedative.
What do you think? Is John cheating on PureSYTYCD and moonlighting at the New York Post?
I like Mary, for me she’s the best judge of any sytycd when it comes to ballroom. The others genres, sometimes she just screams, but I don’t mind that.
I have to admit that I’ve muted Mary a time or two, when the screaming gets old. But I’ve never been a hater, like John. 🙂
Mary’s not my favorite judge, but I think Julia’s right that she’s an excellent ballroom judge. Yes, I understand that’s her speciality, but I really enjoy listening to her talk about ballroom. That’s why I’m excited that she’s going to be choreographing this season, the pieces she’s done have been really good.
I’m with John! 🙂
Occasionally, Mary’s okay, but mostly I use the 30-second skip or just FF. I think their comments about Nigel are fair. I might not always agree with him, but he’s a good judge.
@Kevin: Nigel’s a good judge. But every once in a while, he gets wacky just for the sake of attention, I think. 🙂
