SYTYCD S7 Dallas/Nashville Auditions + Vegas Week Music
Considering how great the Season 7 music has already been, I’m super excited to see what tonight’s packed episode brings. I think Vegas Week is going to be even more intense than ever before, this season, so that should be interested.
As always, I’ll update this list as the show happens and I would appreciate any help y’all might provide. We’ve got the smartest readers/commenters on the Internet, in my opinion, so it’s always a pleasure to see the list firm up with all of your help.
Here we go…
SYTYCD Season 7 Dallas/Nashville Music List
Opening song: ?
Dallas
Dallas intro: song?
Ida Saki (1st dancer, dancing for her and her mom): Itzhak Perlman’s “Schindler’s List”
Quick good dancer mashup with:
Robert Rolden (dark haired): Lissie’s “Everywhere I Go” –
This is seriously one of my favorite songs ever!! I was screaming when I saw him dance to this. I’ll explain more later.
Rebecca Hart: missed this song…
[Marianya’s Addendum] It’s the intro to “Halo” by Beyoncé
Robert/Rebecca celebrate getting through to Vegas: missed this, too
Haylee Durbin (big floppy clothes, lost her dad): Coldplay’s “Talk” – That song’s not right, but I’ll keep it till I find the right one.
[Marianya’s Addendum] According to commentor Jonathan the artist is Shawn McDonald… but since we still can’t find the song, here is Take My Hand for your listening pleasure
Back from the break: song?
Outside in the line montage/intro Conor McLachlin: song?
Conor “Scooter Rocket” McLaughlin (actually not a bad singer, on wheels): am I crazy that this sounded Bowie-esque?
[Marianya’s Addendum] The only lyrics I could find is “scooter fly”… i wouldn’t be surprised if this is a “Scooter Rocket” creation… in which case I would say “wrong show man”.
No montage: a few song beats, nothing I could recognize
Bad dancer montage: Joe Purdy “Can’t Seem To Get Right Today” –
Nicole Knudson (crazy tall hair, great dancer): Commenter beth suggests Portishead’s “The Rip” –
Choreography: Lady GaGa “Bad Romance” –
Yes to Vegas montage: Couldn’t really catch any lyrics. Help? [Our reader beth says it’s The Audition’s “The Way You Move” –
Going into the break: Britney Spears’ “Toxic” –
Back from break, 2nd day in Dallas: something country?
Deroccious Harris (intense “masculine and sexy at the same time” dancer): Britney Spears’ “Toxic” –
Marcella Raneri (dad was a mobster): Anouk “Lost” –
Back from commercial (in Dallas): song? something hip hop?
Jordan Johnson (out of rehab, kinda messy looking, great dancer) interview: song?
Jordan Johnson audition: Lil Wayne “Da Da Da” –
Not quite sure about this. Somebody confirm? Confirmed! (By both beth and Marianya, so that’s good enough for me. Though, I’m thinking it’s a remix or something).
Nashville
Intro to Nashville: Halfway to Hazard “Welcome to Nashville” –
Faith Looney (danced “flamenco” with her friend Kelsey): you know I suck at non-English lyrics! Help, please? [maria says this is Los del Rio’s “Algo se muere en el alma,” which isn’t on iTunes, so check out “San Sereni” – for now.
[Marianya’s Addendum] It is believed that the song is El Adios by Amigos de Gine
No montage: Gram Parsons “I Can’t Dance” –
Shanya Vaughn (her routine is “full of energy” and she wants to be a model): anybody know the song? [Our reader maria says it’s Aaliyah’s “More Than a Woman” –
2nd Day in Nashville: Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” –
Brian Gaynor (auditioned in season 3, amazing dancer with scoliosis) intro: Styx’s “Mr. Roboto” –
Brian Gaynor audition: Owl City “Fireflies” –
Vegas Week
Snippets of music that I haven’t caught…
[Marianya’s Addendum] The first song in the opening music sequence is Paper Route’s Last Time
Alex Wong (does he really need an intro? Season 5 stand out): something with great drum beats, instrumental
[Marianya’s Addendum] The song that Alex danced to is Tension from Le Reve, unfortunately there are no iTunes or Amazon links available. 🙁
Billy Bell (ditto, Season 6 Top 20, got sick): Telepathe “Lights Go Down” – He always picks such crazy good music!!
Solo montage: This might be Christine Guldbrandsen’s “Feet on the Ground,” but no iTunes link yet and I’m not sure. Will follow up. Nope, as our reader Kate discovered, it’s Juliana Joya’s “Spinning Around (Ole Ole Ole)” –
Anthony Burrell (has a bad hamstring): something hip hop, soft [As Suchita pointed out, Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” – And I smack my forehead for the 3rd time tonight.]
Hip hop choreography round (with Tabitha!): Usher (ft. Will.i.am) “OMG” –
Going through: DJ Khaled (ft. T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg & Rick Ross) “All I Do Is Win” –
Sarah Brinson cut: haven’t found, looking…
Ballroom round: Lady GaGa “Just Dance” –
Jordan Johnson cut: haven’t found, looking… [Our reader Andrea has identified it as Skillet’s “Say Goodbye” – ]
Adé Chiké Torbert’s dance for his life solo: instrumental (w/ a heart monitor sound?) haven’t found
[Marianya’s Addendum] According to commentor Richard the song is Craig Armstrong’s Ruthless Gravity from the film Layer Cake
@Richard, Rachel and Jason: Thanks!
@Glory: I’m pretty sure that’s not it, but I added an iTunes link because it’s a pretty song and folks might want to listen to it. 🙂
does anyone know the name of the song that Rebecca Hart danced too?
Does anybody know the “i dont wanna say goodbye” song when Jordan Johnson gets eliminated? It’s killing mee!!
The Rebecca Hart audition song is driving me nuts… I love it so much, but NO ONE seems to know what song it is! It seems to use the same chord progression as Halo, Already Gone, and Distance and Time… Someone PLEEEEASE find out what it is, I’m going out of my mind 🙁
In the first two hour show, toward the later half – there was a contestent named Jose Ruiz aka Full Deck. What was the name of the song he used for his audition? Can you please email it to me on my personal email: julie_christoffersen@yahoo.com
Thank you. I really need to find out this song.
Yes – More Lissie!
And to top it off maybe lissie doing gaga:

@Fiestaman: I love that Bad Romance cover she does!!
She also covers Bob Dylan’s “Ramona.”
Jonathan,
The song Haylee Durbin danced to is an unreleased song by Shawn McDonald. It’s a single from the album to be released towards the end of this year. Although that wasn’t the actual music Haylee performed to, Shawn was dubbed over her music.
Also would love to know the song Rebecca Hart danced to. Does sound like something Ryan Tedder would write (One Republic, Jordin Sparks “battlefield” etc).
I really want the song for the Jordan Johnson cut. The “I dont’ wanna say goodbye oh oh oh”
Jamie, I really want it too! I’ve been searching and have come up with NOTHING! Someone HELP us find the I don’t wanna say goodbye song played when Jordan was cut, pleeease! I’ve tried goodbye, don’t wanna say goodbye, and I don’t wanna say goodbye…it’s a male, sounds like perhaps acoustic??
What song did Alex Wong dance to during his first solo in Vegas?
I really want to find the song that played while Sarah Brinson walked out after being cut. Anyone…
Here is a link to the unofficial release of “Scooter Fly” as featured on ‘ So You Think You Can Dance’ Dallas Audition Season 7 http://bit.ly/8N2nvh . Be sure to iLike this artist.
Hi Scooter Rocket: Thanks for the link!
Do you think I got my message across on FOX? I was trying to express the universality of dance in transportation! Our work is more then simply moving from point A to point B!! it is a dance about everything in between, motivating, social and sideways; exercise and sport should not be just a scheduled event void of character, spontaneity and open community. When I skate its not just about me, it’s the people around that give me the strength to battle on, after all it takes a village to make a good skater, dancer, singer, fighter. Man becomes scooter.
Faith Looney actually danced to “El Adios” by Amigos de Gine, not Los del Rio’s “Algo se muere en el alma”. SYTYCD brought back show recaps, which includes a list of most audition songs, and it’s up there. http://www.fox.com/dance/recaps/
I don’t know what else you’re missing, but it says Alex’s song is a theme from La Reve called Tension? They might be able to fill in some other stuff you haven’t gotten yet, too. The forums on there could be helpful, as well.
Diana, thanks for the Alex’s song ;D

The song that Jordan Johnson Danced to was Da Da Da by Lil’ Wayne. (:
What song was played as Jose Ruiz was waiting to find out if he made top 10?
@Ale: The newest episode’s music is here.
You can also find all of Season 7’s music in one handy-dandy place.
Emilie, this link doesn’t appear to work. It just takes me to the same home page :(. I can’t find all music in one place. Still looking for the song played when jordan was cut. Has anyone found it?
Hey, y’all…
Seems a lot of us love “Hope” by Shawn McDonald. Here’s what I got in response to a note I sent to his website: “It was Shawn’s song but unfortunately it’s not yet available for purchase. The label has the completed record and we’re hoping for an early 2011 release, if not sooner.”
Guess we’ll have to wait a while! 🙂
@Jillian: If you try it again, you’ll find that it looks just like the regular site, but it’s only posts with the music tag. 🙂
@Jonathan: Thanks for trying – that’s the response others have gotten, as well. It seems to me that Shawn and his label should give us an exclusive download of “Hope” to whet folks’ appetite for his album. Especially since it’s 6 months+ from being released. C’mon, guys! 🙂
Thanks Emilie. Still nothing on the song from jordan’s cut? Desperate to find it…
I don’t think the Rebecca Hart song is Halo because the 2 songs are in a different key. Very similar, but not the same. It must be written by the same person, Ryan Tedder but a different song.
Song played when Jordan Johnson was cut is Skillet “Say Goodbye”
. iTunes has the studio and accoustic versions.
Thanks, Andrea! I know Jillian (and others) will be happy for your information!
Andrea, I don’t think that’s it! I had listened to that song previously when I was searching for it and it doesn’t sound the same as the song that was played. I just went back and listened to the clip from the show again and replayed the skillet and I don’t think they’re a match :(. Search is still on…
