Win Tickets to Master Classes Hosted by Cliche Cosmetics
Cliche Cosmetics is hosting the Summer Dance Series, dance classes taught by SYTYCD alum – Katee Shean (S4), Melissa Sandvig (S5), Randi Evans (S5), Victor Smalley (S6) and Noelle Marsh (S6) – and they’ve offered us free tickets for our readers!
Here’s the deal. The master classes are designed for intermediate to advanced dancers and will be hosted during August in Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and New York. At least three members of the faculty will teach in each city. Check out all the details here.
We have one ticket per city to give away. So, if you want them, write in the comments below and tell us why we should give the ticket to you. If you win the ticket, you commit to guest-blogging your experiences for PureSYTYCD – and we want pictures!!! Tell us which city’s class you’d like a ticket for. Get our attention with creativity, inspiration and…compliments and bribes always help, too. 🙂 Tell us how much the class will mean to you. Or tell us what a great guest blog you’ll write. Get our attention and you can win a free ticket to a SYTYCD master class in one of these cities!
[7.6. Update and disclaimer: I never mentioned our deadline. We need all of your mini-essays by the 15th so we can make our decision before the first class – and already it’s going to be a hard one. I must disclaim – neither Cliche Cosmetics nor PureSYTYCD can pay any travel or associated expenses. We’re combining our efforts to bring you the opportunity to take the class for free, but make sure you’re in the position to get to the class and stay in whichever city you select.]
What a great opportunity!
I would love to take the class in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The reason I would love the chance is because I just started dancing again, after a 7 year hiatus. I had danced for 22 years before that, and suffered injuries and burnout. Rediscovering dance has been the best thing that could have happened in my life right now! I would love to get to take the class and show them what an “old” (31 yrs) dancer can do 🙂
Do we have to provide the transportation to and from, ourselves? xD I was supposed to go to Los Angeles this summer for a good and worthwhile dance intensive too…but it was just too expensive even with a scholarship. 🙁
@Lori: Congrats on getting back to dancing!
@AJ: Yup, all travel (and accommodations) is up to you. I think the best candidate for these tickets already lives in one of the three cities or is already planning to be there. OR has a place to stay, etc. Good luck with your dance training (and the cost!) and let us know if you’d like to duke it out for a ticket in one of the cities.
This is going to be a cool opportunity. I’ve met a couple of the dancers that will be there and they are some of the nicest people you’ll meet.
Lori,
I might have to discount your audition for calling 31 old;-) Ok, I know it’s old for a dancer, but I’m a little sensitive about my age. Now if you’re blonde, you’ll get extra bonus points from me.
On that note, if you have videos or pictures online of you dancing, share those too. You never know how that might influence the judging.
Lol. Just like the SYTYCD judges – we don’t pretend to be impartial. Clearly, John is the Nigel of our PureSYTYCD judging panel (old and lecherous). Whereas, I’m probably more like Mia – sometimes grumpy and sometimes brilliant. But regardless of my mood, I always talk with my hands and either in bizarre analogies and/or strange noises that other people pretend to understand. Holy shit – I am Mia Michaels.
I wish I was a dancer. I’d totally do this.
Isn’t Randi so pretty without a terrible black wig on?
City I would like to attend: New York!
Pure So You think you can dance is amazing. All the info i need… right at my fingertips. Its great knowing that other people L0VE the show as much as i Do.
You should choose ME
My name starts with a T
Taylor Green
This is my scene
I cant go a day without dance
or i’m antsy like theres ants in my pants
I’m obviously not a good poet.
Dancing is such my passion. I have a rare foot deformity.. that makes it really painful to go on full releve. Its twice as hard for me to achieve the same results as some dancers. But i don’t care, I love dancing so much that i don’t let it get to me.
Please give me the opportunity to show everyone that I can dance, no matter what shortcomings i might have. I hope that other people can follow in my footsteps as well!!
@Taylor Green: I’m so proud of you for dancing!!! Keep it up! Yeah, not the best poet…but I think you got your point across regardless. 🙂
@Ben: I hear ya on wishing you were a dancer. I’d totally do this myself if I could. And the black wig was not Randi’s best look, no. 🙂
City: LA or FL
I’d never been able to do the splits. Not when I was little, the age that kids are supposed to be like Twizzlers and plastic Barbie dolls. My mom called me the rigid baby. And one of my clearest childhood memories was my self-consciousness during those elementary recesses and afterschools when my playmates would show off their perfect cartwheels and amazing high kicks. I was the girl in the corner who could never reach her toes. Nicknamed Grandma.
Yet, when I was fourteen years old, I knew that I needed to become a dancer.
Although I knew of my unlikely disposition – fourteen years of old bones don’t compete well in this field. But when I first started watching SYTYCD, I was so inspired; I felt my life was at turning point. I stretched myself from ninty degrees to a full middle split in six months. I took out all the furnitures in my rooms except my bed and learned dance from my only teacher – Youtube. Never did I think what I did would yield any sort of accomplishment in the end. But just this year I actually made my high school’s varsity pom team. I want to believe I can go somewhere with dance. Please give me an opportunity to learn.
Thanks so much for doing this!!
By the way, can we post pictures or videos to show our dancing?
@Christine: I think it’s amazing that you taught yourself to dance and were determined to do it! As for pictures or video – why don’t you send us a message through our contact link and we’ll get those images from you for the site. Or if the videos are available on youtube, feel free to post links in the comments.
CITY: FT LAUD
The reason I want to go is because I rarely get to do these things. My family is of very love income. My parents really do try with getting me to these things! And I truly appreciate it! But even when we have a bit of money to do it my dad’s work doesn’t allow it at times and he works on weekends when dance things are usually. And my mom is unable to bring me because she is legally blind. Dance is the one thing i really look forward to. It’s a means of expression for me. And I have actually made friends through it. Which was hard to do prior to it. Going to The Summer Series would be great especially since one of my favorite dancers, Victor Smalley, is teaching. I love the idea of dance conventions and master classes because you get to meet other dancers from other dance studios and share an experience with them and learn from them. Also, being taught by some of the greatest dancers and choreographers would be the biggest blessing because I know an opportunity like this might not come again.
Another thing that I noticed is guestblogging which would also be a great opportunity since I am a co-author for an arts-based blog called “Backstage Arts”(lalalexandra.wordpress.com/). You can checkout some of my stuff! I love blogging! I feel that I would be great at guest blogging for you guys!(And it would be great since Alexandra(the other author) and some guests are going to be writing about Summer dance intensives and things they went to on Backstage Arts and I would love to write about my experience at the Summer Dance Series!
Hope you choose me!
-Kat :o)
The city I would like to take class in is New York!!
I recently made one of the hardest decisions in my life! Which was to leave school and go hard for my passion of dance! I want to relocate here in the next few months to New York and this would be the perfect opportunity for me to see if NY is destined for me =]. PureSYTYCD always seems to broadcast the perfect things for me at the right time lol. I don’t have any sympathetic story to compliment this entry! But all I can say is that this IS for me and would be the next step towards my dreams!! I left my website with some dance work. Thanks Pure SYTYCD
With love,
Asia A.
@Kat Rippe and Asia Anderson: I’m so glad both of you are dancing! Best of luck! This is going to be a hard decision!
City I would like to attend : NEW YORK 🙂
I I am like a sponge. I take in everything i can get with no doubts. Even if the task is hard, i am willing to put in 110%. Dance is my passion and my escape. It puts me into a different world where all my worries go away and for a moment I can express my feelings through my movement.
This class will be my escape where i can put my raw feelings on the floor and show what I am made out of. I am not hoping to do this just because it will be fun. I am doing this because I am in love with dance and i must say dance is in love with me 😉 I may not be the most flexible, i may not have the best feet and i surely may not have the longest legs, but I do have a BIG heart for dance. Pick me and I will spill my heart out for you!!! THANK YOUUU!!
