Alex Gets a Standing O at Radio City Music Hall

I totally stole this from Rickey (thanks, Rickey!!!!), but I just knew y’all would love to see it.

Alex came on stage after they played a video of the “Outta Your Mind” performance and gave everybody an update about his Achilles tendon and you can just feel the love from the audience (turn down your volume as soon as it starts playing).

How must that feel as a dancer, to get THAT reaction and to be so beloved! Can’t wait to see Alex dance again and can’t wait for SEASON 8!

• Drivers license (if you have a paper driving license you must also bring
additional photo ID)
• Passport
• Birth certificate (with additional photo ID).
• Music – in the event that you are asked to perform a solo (please see the music section below for details).

WHAT TO EXPECT
In your audition:
• You will be asked to dance in a group with other auditionees.
• You may be asked to perform a piece of choreography created by our team and presented to you on the day.
• You may also be asked to perform a solo of your own creation, to your own choice of music. It must be no longer than 1 minute 30 seconds, so please make sure you have a piece of choreography to perform and you have your music with you. (See below for music details).
Please come prepared for all of the above.

NB. If the style of your solo dance requires a partner, please see below for competing/ non-competing dance partner information.

DANCE PARTNERS
For the solo auditions, if your dance style requires a partner, you can be accompanied by either a non-competing or competing dance partner:

• Non-Competing Dance Partners:
You can be accompanied to the audition by a non-competing dance partner, who will dance with you for your solo performance, but will not be judged themselves. Non-competing dance partners must also be over 18 before or on 16/04/2011. All non-competing dance partners will also have to complete and sign an audition release form prior to taking the stage, and their performance footage may be featured in the programme. They must also bring photo identification. (See ‘what to bring’ on the previous page.)

• Competing Dance Partners:
Competing dance partners are permitted to accompany each other in the solo auditions. You may have two separate auditions, with each individual being judged separately.

MUSIC
You may be asked to perform a short piece of choreography to your own choice of music that is no longer than 1 minute 30 seconds, please make sure you have a performance piece prepared and that you bring your music with you.

• We recommend that you bring at least 2 options of songs/ music that you can dance to.
• All audition music must be brought in CD format.
• These music tracks should not contain either sexually explicit or overly violent lyrics.
• In order to ensure that the music is of a good quality, we also recommend you bring the songs on a CD that has been bought commercially.
• For our clearance purposes you must provide the record label and information for all music (which can be found on the CD). Songs downloaded from the internet, or a contestant created mix, are less likely to be cleared for use on TV. In this event, or any other in which we deem your music choices unsuitable, we will ask you to perform to one of the tracks from our lists.

GENERAL ADVICE
Please try to arrive at the audition venue as close to the when the doors open as possible. If you are unable to get there for that time, please come along as early as you can. We would advise you to be there at least 90 minutes before the doors close to give you the best chance of being seen, however we will endeavour to see everyone, (although if you arrive once the doors are closed this may be unlikely). If we experience an unprecedented number of auditionees, we will endeavour to make arrangements to see you at an alternative venue.
We apologise if this happens but we cannot accept liability for any consequences of this happening.
Please check the website for information regarding the times for each location.

Please note that these could be long days. We recommend you wear appropriate clothing, as you may have to queue outside. Toilet facilities will be available, but we are unable to provide childcare facilities. We cannot provide refreshments for you and whilst there may be facilities to obtain refreshments at your own cost at the venue we cannot guarantee this and you are strongly advised to bring your own food and drink with you.

If you consider yourself to have a disability and require any extra help, support or advice for your audition, please have a word with any of the audition team as soon as you arrive.

We recommend that you keep your whole day free.

AUDITION CLOTHING
For filming purposes, you must not wear any article of clothing with visible designer, sports or any other name, logos and/or artwork subject to protection by copyright or trademark laws, or clothing showing the name and/or likeness of a celebrity, living or dead.
i.e. please avoid clothing with heavy branding, logos, photographic images, or cartoon characters.

The BBC reserves the right to refuse you an audition at any time at its sole discretion and will not be required to give any reason for such refusal.

AND FINALLY…

Please note that by attending the audition, whether you are in the queue or in the venue, you are giving your consent to be filmed as part of the programme.

Good luck!

Please keep an eye on the site for all the latest audition information.

SYTYCD Canada Top 10 Performance Show

I was away and my PVR did not tape the results show last week but it seems Charlene, Edgar, Nathalie, Sebastian, Claudia and Jonathan were the bottom dancers and it was Claudia and Jonathan who went home.

I am not surprised by the news.

I though Claudia stayed longer than expected. She is an amazing ballroom dancer, however, not multi-faceted. Jonathan is amazing but there can only be one and it is only going to be harder as we go along…..

Photo from CTV.

Now, onto tonight’s show. Top 10 will become 8 and tonight’s Top Ten Dancers all did solo’s as well as paired routines since we now vote for individual dancers not couples.

Judges:
Jean-Marc (Who was invited to the World Latin Dance Championships)
Tre Armstrong
Karen Kain
Dan Karaty

First I will summarize the couple routines then list the solo’s.

Amanda & Edgar
Hip Hop – Luther Brown
Find Your Love – Drake – Find

I loved the concept of mannequins with swagger. Thrilled to see Edgar in this style and Amanda was also impressive. Great choreo from Luther and the two really pulled it off.

Denys & Nathalie
Mambo – Gustavo Varagas
Mambo de Bataan – Bataan – Mambo

Denys is amazing at everything he does. Nathalie looked great next to him also. There were some fairly complex looking tricks and moves. It was entertaining!

Mackenzie & Charlene
Contemporary – Stacy Tookey
One Day Like This – Elbow – One

Stacey always has amazing routines. This concept was good and the two were beautiful together. Mackenzie is so pretty to look at isn’t he?

Janick & Jeff
Jazz – Blake McGrath
Come On Girl – Taio Cruz – Come

Cages, Whips, grinding and more… Leave it to Blake to choreo something hot like this… I loved the cage use… the whip had it’s moments of hottness and a few that were over the top… Overall it was sexy and smooth.

Danielle & Sebastian
Quick Step – Pierre Allaire
Back in Town – Matt Dusk – Back

It was catchy and started right away fast. They both moved elegantly. I don’t know much about quick step but I enjoyed watching them.

SOLO’S

I put the dancer name and who they said most inspires them….

Sebastian – mom
99 Red Balloons – Goldfinger – 99
1 877 977 4601
props, fun and quirky which was thrilling to watch.

Danielle – teacher Joshua
Stupid – Sarah McLachlan – Stupid
1 877 977 4602
long extensions and full use of the stage passionate

Jeff – instructor Vince
Bukovynian Rhythms – Ukranian Shumka Dancers
1 877 977 4603

It was different but very energetic. He was in traditional clothing and really moved all ocer the stage.

Janick – brother
Gotta Get Thru This – Daniel Bedingfield – Gotta
1 877 977 4604

Lot’s of sharp and smooth movements. I love her but I think she could have brought more to the solo.

Edgar – Luther Brown
She Don’t Know – Usher – She
1 877 977 4605

He is so awesome, I don’t know how people jeep putting him in the bottom. I mean seriously hot!

Amanda – sister
Love – Anouk – Love
1 877 977 4606

The song choice was a nit strange to dance to in my opinion but she really went all out.

Mackenzie – other dancers
In My Place – Coldplay – In
1 877 977 4607

Passion and power. He was shirtless so I pretty much just stared at him.

Charlene – mom
Machine Gun – Portishead – Machine
1 877 977 4608

She was sharp and hard hitting.

Denys – mom
1 877 977 4609
Baiao Destemperado – Barbatuques – Baião

Unique and quick moving but interesting

Nathalie – Dancer Kelly
Gravity – Sara Bareilles – Gravity
1 877 977 4610

Beautiful and full movement over the entire stage Pure Passion.

Power Rankings:

I am still out of it from my trip so let me just ramble…
This is tough.

Women:

I would send Janick home based on solo but her couple routine was good.
Same with Nathalie.
I think Charlene may go home.

Men:

I hope they keep Edgar and Sebastian and Mackenzie and Jeff so…. that only leaves Denys who is amazing!
Gah I guess Edgar will go home given his track record of bottom dancer…

Sad!

I am a blogger and reality tv lover. I blog here for SYTYCD but mostly the Canada version, since I live in Vancouver BC. I also blog about other reality tv shows on my own blog www.mandysmind.com

SYTYCD T-shirts for the SYTYCD Tour

Well, I meant to do this post right after the finale of SYTYCD. Unfortunately, I got a bit busy and never got around to it. Thanks to Emilie, Amanda, McPhee and Malicious Mandy for keeping things going on Pure SYTYCD while I took a bit of a break.

Well, I know that many of you have already been to see the SYTYCD tour. My tour date seems like forever away (about a month). So, I’m still waiting for my chance to enjoy the show. Plus, I got fourth row tickets which isn’t too bad. If you haven’t gotten your SYTYCD tour tickets yet, there are still some SYTYCD Tour tickets on Ticketmaster. Still a month worth of tour stops left. I’m personally going to the Las Vegas one.

If you want to be really cool at the SYTYCD tour stop, then you should definitely get a shirt that shows your love for the show. Here’s some possible t-shirts that should work or you can get a “I Heart LoFro” t-shirt if you prefer.

Personally, I think I’m going to go with the “I Live SYTYCD” t-shirt below (in a Men’s style of course):

If you see someone in Las Vegas with a shirt like this, you’ll know it’s me!
