Leah reviews where some of the past dancers from the show are and who they have danced for – highlighting their accomplishments.
Nico (season 1 winner) introduces Tara-Jean and Denys who are past winners of SYTYCD Canada (season 2 and 3) who dance. It was awesome, choreographed by Tony & Melanie. They even went off the stage to dance in the crowd.
Top 6 Dancers
Sean Cheesman choreographed
Relax My Beloved – Alex Care
I love that they are doing past favourite dances as well as new routines for this finale, it was sad seeing them dance for the last time together in the stage.
Top 6 talk about their journey starting with making the Top 22. They chat about a few stories. Lindsey wore size 5 show instead of size 7 once. They were waiting for the lights on stage and all took a nap, Christian slept on the stairs back stage once.
Melissa’s favourite routine was with Shane, Christian’s was the door routine with Jordan, Shane talks about how hard Christian practiced on the wall to be as good as Jordan for that routine. Jordan loved dancing with everyone and talks about their connection, Lindsey says they are all best friends. They end with a heart felt group hug.

Announcing the Winner:
Leah reminds us of prizes:
$5000 for 4 runner’s up
$10000 and a car for 1st runner up
$100000 and a car for winner.
Canada voted 1.6 million times
Christian, Lindsey, Shane are not in the top 2.
Matt is not in Top 2.
Melissa and Jordan remain… we are not surprised are we?
They both won cars… but there can only be one winner and it is…. Jordan Clark!
All of them are really winners… not just the money or cars, but the exposure they have had and the talent they have shown – I expect big things from all of them in the future 🙂
Overall Thoughts:
I am so thrilled Jordan won. I was rooting for her since auditions and think she is amazing.
I thought for a while Melissa may beat her because she showed such diversity and skill.
I also thought Matt somehow may pull (what I would consider) an upset and take it, though I felt Christian was a better dancer and Shane the best male dancer.
I didn’t think a male would win it though, the women were fierce.
Lindsey grew the most for me and I was so impressed with how much she improved and brought to the stage this season!
Congrats to Jordan, I am so proud and thrilled to see that my favourite from day one took it home!
Thoughts on the winner? The finale? The season?
Very disappointed that Melissa didn’t win. Jordan made a strong first impression but she wasn’t very versatile and even went to the bottom in her own genre. Then when she got a do-over on the Tookey routine that last week her and Christian blew, it just seemed like the show was doing everything they could to make the vote credible. A rip for Melissa, the most versatile dancer
I really felt that Jordan was the clear winner from day one, but yes, Melissa certainly exceeded her in recent weeks. I am not disappointed at all, but see your point.
The only thing I disagree on is the “do-over” comment. It wasn’t a do-over because the votes were all in and all the dances tonight were do-over’s as finales all have repeated dances… the good thing about tonight was that we had a couple new dances also!!
Melissa and Jordan were the top two and I think that was accurate and am glad Canada voted right!!
The dance was a do-over. It was badly performed the first time, so it would never have been selected for the finale unless it was a chance to show that even though Jordan blew it the first time she can actually do it if you give her another chance. Too bad others weren’t given the same luxury.
An amazing finale. I loved all the favourite picks except maybe the doll one (never a fan of Shalayna). I was so happy someone picked the Blake McGrath routine danced by Lindsay and Adam — huge emotional impact.
Jordan was not my favourite, but I have no complaints. She deserved to win. So glad Melissa was in the top two. I think any of them deserved to win — including Adam L and Joey. This was an amazing group! Nice to see they spread some prize money around for the top six. In Canada, we like to share. 🙂
I really don’t care if Jordan and Christian’s performance was a “do-over.” I’m glad I got to see it performed without a mistake. That lift was spectacular!
I’ve been watching SYTYCD for a long time, and this finale was the best I’ve ever seen on either the U.S. or the Canadian show. Unlike in past Top Four/Six results shows, I enjoyed seeing all the routines again, and the dancing was spectacular. In fact, this group of dancers has been so good that I had a really hard time choosing amongJordan (flexibility, technique, charisma), Melissa (FIERCE and a dancer’s dancer), and Lindsay (great technique, most improved, a wonderful vulnerable quality) FTW. After seeing the dances last night, my only complaint about the season was that Joey got bumped too soon. Not only should he have been in the Top Ten, he should be been in the Top Six!
Regarding the infamous Jordan “do-over”: (1) Christian originally messed up the lift, not Jordan, so if you want to be snarky, you could call it a Christian do-over, I suppose. (2) But it wasn’t a do-over in any case. It was a flawless performance instead of a very good performance with a couple of bobbles. (3) As Veronique said, that lift was amazing, and I’m glad I got the chance to see it as it should have been done.
Jordan/Melissa = sort of like Melanie/Sasha in the last U.S. SYTYCD. Either one could have taken it all, but the fiercer dancer came second, which is no disgrace, especially in Canada where everyone gets some $ and the first runner-up also gets a vehicle. It’s also worth keeping in mind that everyone on the show, even those who didn’t make it to the final, gets a big career boost.
joey & jordan were to the canadian show what melanie & marko were to the US show to me. such a powerful couple!!!!! so mad that joey didn’t get to stay longer, that contemporary was the best piece of the show in my opinion. love you stacey tookey!!!!
very happy that jordan won, she looked like she was not expecting it at all!
I don’t know how anyone could think Jordan did not deserve this victory. She has been absolutely amazing all season in every style, like Melissa. If anyone was favored this season it was Melissa, with the judges constantly giving her standing ovations week after week. I truly would have been happy with either of them winning… So to pick one over the other is unfair really. I loved all three of the woman in the top three for that matter. I think that lindsay will go on to give us some of the best choreography in the future. Her talent in that area was clearly unmatched this season. Can you imagine how good our winner’s solos could have been if lindsay choreographed them? I can, and it would be awesome. That’s why I think Jordan deserved to win… Because she showed her talent all season, but I believe she also has the most overall potential as a dancer as well. Lindsay brought the most passion I felt… And Melissa the most energy… But sheer talent goes to Jordan IMHO. Very deserving win and congratulations to her for the most memorable dances of the season.
In a season where the voting was so wrong (wtf at sending Joey home so early…), it was nice to see the final ending so right. I don’t think you could have gone wrong with any of the final three girls winning, all are stunning dancers.
Melissa was the best overall dancer of the competition, she did everything great. She got a massive amount of exposure, a car and a stack of cash for her efforts.
Jordan seemed to have that ability to take a great performance and somehow make it something even more.
Ultimately, I would pay money to see either of them perform…but I would pay a lot more to watch Joey and Jordan perform together in their element again.
I know OT, but I had to express my outrage over Cat Deeley not getting the Emmy. The Survivor host? Really?
Big Congrats, though, to Mia and Nappy Tabs!
Still NOT a fan of do-overs in any sort of setting. Encores yes. Do-overs is a waste. I would have preferred one of Melissa’s excellent contemporary pieces, like This Year’s Love with Shane, Or I Wanna Dance with Somebody, with Joey….done Right the First Time.
Anyway, the SAD thing today is the show has been cancelled.
Doh! *facepalm* I must have seen last year’s Emmy results. Blame it on being overseas.
Yes, let me second may’s “BOO!” over the cancellation.
