I must admit that I don’t follow Blake McGrath all that much, but there’s no doubt he’s a great dancer and a really interesting personality. I usually hate people that are totally full of themselves, but Blake is so full of himself that he makes me laugh. Well, I’m sure those that follow Blake McGrath have known this for a couple weeks, but it looks like Blake is trying to be a music artist now. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m going through SYTYCD withdrawal a little bit. I don’t like not having a second episode this week! 🙂
This past weekend, I rented this flick called “Love N’ Dancing” and was surprised to see bitty cameos by Season 2’s Benji and Heidi and that tided me over a bit till last night’s Season 6 episode. I remember that Seasons 3’s Neil had a cute and memorable role in “American Mall” that amused me when I saw it. Maybe you can still catch Kherington in “Fame” theaters somewhere in the country.
Still, we’ll have to wait till next year to see Season 4’s Joshua, Katee and Twitch in Adam Shankman’s “Step Up 3-D” (and Season 2’s Ivan, too). 2010 will also bring the movie that Paula van Oppen turned down a place in Season 6’s Top 20 for – “Burlesque.” It sounds a bit like “Coyote Ugly,” but with a burlesque club instead of bar. Season 4’s Chelsea Traille will play a character named Coco. 🙂
Our friends at SYTYCDism mention that Katee, Kherington and Season 4’s Comfort will be on upcoming episode(s) of “Glee,” as well.

Some surprising news coming out of the SYTYCD world today. If you all haven’t heard, Mia Michaels took to her Twitter yesterday to announce that she’s leaving our beloved show after 5 years. The reaction has been intense. Many people feel that the show won’t be the same without Mia, which is definitely true. Over the seasons, her pieces have been among the most memorable ones ever performed. Just think about these…
-her tribute to her father danced by Lacey and Neil
-Danny and Neil’s Dance of the Princes
-Chelsie and Mark’s “what would Tim Burton’s wedding look like?”
-Kherington and Twitch’s dance on the bed
-Katee and Joshua’s Hometown Glory dance

-Kupono and Kayla’s Addiction dance
these are a selection of Mia’s best dances, but there are obviously more. It’s pretty obvious this show has meant a lot to Mia, she’s an Emmy winner because of SYTYCD.

Hi everybody! I thought I’d talk about the routines that made the list of the 15 best from seasons 1-5. Nigel hosted this great look back at the best of the best from the last five years.
They started with season 1 (obviously) and it’s amazing to look at how barebones the concept of the show was at that point. Two routines were highlighted from season 1. First was Destini and Jamile‘s awesome hip-hop routine by Shane Sparks. I didn’t start watching SYTYCD until season 2, so I was thrilled to be able to see this routine that I had heard so much about. It didn’t disappoint, they both hit it hard and everything just worked. The 2nd routine highlighted was Melody and Nick’s “All That Jazz” routine. The music from Chicago has been featured multiple times on the show over the years, but I feel that these 2 best friends (the clip where Nick says to the camera “we’re canoodling!” while he squashes Melody into the sofa is classic) embodied everything about that Fosse style.
With Season 6 just around the corner…I visited the Fox website to remind myself when season 6 begins…September 9th. Then, I noticed that on September 2nd they are doing a SYTYCD special feature. They will be reshowing some of the best routines from every season of SYTYCD.
I must have missed this announcement or I just wasn’t paying that much attention. So this is just a friendly reminder to save this date. As for what dances we will see…well, I can think of a few. I know the one I would like to see again…not including the ones we saw this past season.

Those are just a few of the many dances. I know there are many I didn’t list…like just about all of Wade’s routines. So, feel free to add your favorites to the list, and remember to watch September 2nd to see if any of your favorites are replayed.
Dance is one of my biggest passions. I grew up dancing at Augusta West Dance Studio (the same studio that Kathryn McCormick). I have a BFA in theatre/dance from Valdosta State University. Tap is my favorite style of dance.
So You Think You Can Dance All Stars! Similar to Survivor’s All Stars season, this would have the top 4 of the first five seasons going head to head in an automatic Top Top 20. 🙂

Caitlin, Randi and Paris from this season dancing with the all stars from seasons past.
