Least Favorite So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Routines – Responses from SYTYCD Dancers Panel

I told you that I had a ton of videos from SYTYCD at the Reality Rocks Expo. I think I have about a half dozen or so more. We’re nearing the end of the panel and then we’ll show them teaching a routine with audience participation. Then, some one on one interviews as well. Just watching them gets me excited for SYTYCD 2011.

These 2 videos are the SYTYCD panel discussing some of their least favorite SYTYCD routines. I liked how honest they were about not liking some of the routines. On the show, they always act like they loved the routine. I guess that makes sense when the choreographer is right there. Enjoy the SYTYCD honesty!

I thought it was done, so this video is in 2 parts:

How Much of SYTYCD Is Luck of the Draw – Reality Rocks Expo SYTYCD Panel

I love this question, but Will’s right that no one knows it for certain. I do love that their honest about the challenge of some of the music, choreography, etc. Kent also talks about how it’s not reasonable for him and Lauren to “get married” in their bollywood routine. Not to mention, Lauren Froderman gets outed by Kent Boyd saying she didn’t like a specific routine. Enjoy!

How Hard Is It Doing Other Dance Genres on SYTYCD? – Responses at Reality Rocks Expo

SYTYCD Dancers, Lauren Gottlieb, Chelsea Traille, Comfort Fedoke, Lauren Froderman, Will Wingfield, Kupono, Kent Boyd, at Reality Rocks Expo in LA talk about how hard it is to do other dance genres on So You Think You Can Dance. I guess a few of them weren’t enjoying the other styles as much as they make it seem on the show.

How Has SYTYCD Has Made Dance More Accessible? – Reality Rocks Panelists Reponses

I’m back with a video I recorded at the Reality Rocks Expo in LA. This was part of the SYTYCD Panel at the expo and provided some interesting answers to how SYTYCD has made dance more accessible.

The guy who was helping me at this event was surprised that middle america might not know about Krump. He grew up in LA, so I guess he’d known about it forever. I definitely didn’t know about Krump until I first saw it on SYTYCD. So, I guess I was part of the middle america that’s referred to in the video.

More videos on their way. I’ll try and post one a day until I run out of the videos. A nice way to get ready for th new season of SYTYCD.

Updates from SYTYCD Dancers at Reality Rocks Expo

As I mentioned and I posted some pictures, I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Reality Rocks Expo in LA. The highlight of the event was of course the chance to see, hear and talk with a number of the dancers from SYTYCD. Over the next couple weeks as we get ready for the premiere of SYTYCD, I’ll post the videos I did of the event.

My apologies for the shaky camera (I should have brought the tripod), and I didn’t spend much time editing the video either. Not to mention, it wasn’t ideal video conditions. Those things aside, I still think that many of you will really enjoy these videos. You might even get a chance to see me on camera in a few places.

First up is a video that I’m sure you’re all going to enjoy. It’s basically each of the SYTYCD dancers that were on the panel talking about what they’ve been doing since the show. My apologies to Chelsea Traille for not starting the recording when she was talking. I was still trying to figure out which parts to tape. Now on to the SYTYCD updates! I hope you enjoy.

So You Think You Can Dance Pictures at Reality Rocks Expo

I had a really great time this weekend at the Reality Rocks Expo. I’d have to say that the So You Think You Can Dance panel, dancing, and interviews were far and away the highlight of the event for me. I got a ton of interesting takeaways, unexpected comments and just an overall update on a bunch of the SYTYCD dancers.

Plus, I think I have a new love affair with Lauren Gottlieb. Not a real love affair, just an I’m totally awed by her greatness love affair. Although, I think I’ll save that for a future Ode to Lauren Gottlieb post.

I’m still getting all the video together and seeing what’s good and what’s not so good. Until then, here’s some of the pictures my trust cameraman Mark (Thanks Mark!) took of the SYTYCD dancers. Just click on the picture to see the larger image (and a second time for the really large image).

More videos from Reality Rocks to come!

SYTYCD at Realit Rocks Expo (I’ll be there…will you?)

I’m so excited, because tomorrow I’m headed to LA to attend the Reality Rocks Expo. I think it’s going to be a pretty crazy event. However, the best part of the event will likely be seeing the SYTYCD All Stars perform and getting a chance to interview them.

Here’s who they have planning to attend the event: LAUREN FRODERMAN (Season 7 winner), KUPONO AWEAU (Season 5 finalist), KENT BOYD (Season 7 finalist), COMFORT FEDOKE (Season 4 finalist
and an All-Star), LAUREN GOTTLIEB (Season 3 finalist and an All-Star), CHELSEA TRAILLE (Season 4 finalist), and WILL WINGFIELD (Season 4 finalist). Which ones should I be sure to interview? I’m Thinking Lauren, Kupono, Lauren and Kent are my favorites from that list. If you have questions you think I should ask, share them also.

Looks like they’re doing a SYTYCD Q&A panel, Interactive Fan Dance Tutorial, and Autograph Session. We’ll see if I’m brave enough to do the Interactive Fan Dance tutorial. I’m definitely not worthy, but I’m not against making a fool of myself. We’ll see what it’s like when I get there. Either way I’ll be bringing back some video coverage of the event.

Ok, here’s the full press release about So You Think You Can Dance at the Reality Rocks Expo in LA:

SYTYCD Alum in Movie Roles

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m going through SYTYCD withdrawal a little bit. I don’t like not having a second episode this week! 🙂

This past weekend, I rented this flick called “Love N’ Dancing” and was surprised to see bitty cameos by Season 2’s Benji and Heidi and that tided me over a bit till last night’s Season 6 episode. I remember that Seasons 3’s Neil had a cute and memorable role in “American Mall” that amused me when I saw it. Maybe you can still catch Kherington in “Fame” theaters somewhere in the country.

Still, we’ll have to wait till next year to see Season 4’s Joshua, Katee and Twitch in Adam Shankman’s “Step Up 3-D” (and Season 2’s Ivan, too). 2010 will also bring the movie that Paula van Oppen turned down a place in Season 6’s Top 20 for – “Burlesque.” It sounds a bit like “Coyote Ugly,” but with a burlesque club instead of bar. Season 4’s Chelsea Traille will play a character named Coco. 🙂

Our friends at SYTYCDism mention that Katee, Kherington and Season 4’s Comfort will be on upcoming episode(s) of “Glee,” as well.

Do you know of any SYTYCD alumni movie roles I might’ve missed? Planning on seeing any of these movies? Already seen them? Lemme know what you think.

You know what I’d love best at moments like this, when I’m craving some SYTYCD? DVDs of past seasons!

Chelsea Traille and Thayne Jasperson Quickstep Video on SYTYCD

This was definitely the worst dance of the night. Not because Chelsea or Thayne didn’t do well. Mostly because quickstep is a hard dance to knock out of the park on So You Think You Can Dance. It’s a challenging dance that can be wonderful, but to me is just not able to connect the same way other dances do.
