So You Think You Can Dance Finale Special Guest *Spoilers*

Well, I’ve been debating whether to post the “secret” person who will be dancing with Twitch in the place of the injured Alex Wong. Of course, when they say that I’m totally interested to know who it is. Although, the show didn’t really try to hide who it was going to be. They gave it to the various “TV Guide” like sites to have it listed as the description for tonight’s show.

So…now for the SYTYCD Finale Spoilers (you’ve been warned): Read more..

SYTYCD All Stars on Ellen

Check out this video of the SYTYCD All Stars (Ade, Kathryn, Comfort, Allison, Lauren, Mark, D-Trix and Twitch) performing on Ellen (minus Courtney, Neil, Pasha and Anya). It takes a minute to get to the All Stars, but the joke kind of sets the stage for the SYTYCD All Stars.

Thanks to Pure SYTYCD reader Dennis for pointing this out.

P.S. Don’t ever put the luciously beautiful Lauren in those nappy black pants again. Thanks!

Mollee and Legacy on Ellen

Hi all! I’m Tabitha and you can usually find me over at Pure Dancing With the Stars  but I have recently become a SYTYCD addict as well. I watch Ellen everyday (thanks to the magic of DVR) and each week I enjoy seeing the voted off dancers from SYTYCD performing on Ellen. So I talked to John about the idea and here I am. 🙂 For now enjoy Mollee and Legacy and I’ll try to get the others up soon!

Mary Murphy Talks About Abusive Husband on Ellen and Larry King Live

If you’ve read this blog for any amount of time you know that I really don’t like Mary Murphy as a judge on SYTYCD. I just think she adds little value to the show. Despite my desire for her to no longer judge on SYTYCD, I’ll be the first to admit that I was sad to hear Mary Murphy talk about being abused by her husband. I hope that Mary’s words will help others who are also being abused to start talking and get help. You can hear the rest of Mary’s story in the videos below.

This is Mary Murphy on Ellen:

Ellen, Paula Abdul, and SYTYCD Guest Judges

So You Think You Can Dance dipped its foot into the water of having a guest judge on the show. I wasn’t personally that impressed with Ellen, but my twitter stream seemed to really love them. I think Ellen finally got into a nice rhythm in the second half of the show and had some good jokes.

Turns out that now Paula Abdul might be available to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance since Paula’s quite American Idol. Nigel has already acknowledged that he’d welcome her as a guest judge on SYTYCD: “We would certainly consider her as a guest judge,” Dance executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe told the New York Daily News. “Without question.” Nigel’s even suggested that Paula could come on SYTYCD as a choreographer which would be interesting as well. Personally, I’d be fine with Paula Abdul on SYTYCD, but I don’t really see her making the switch since SYTYCD still has far fewer viewers than American Idol. I guess we’ll see since Paula is better known for her dancing than her singing.

However, I think that So You Think You Can Dance should consider another guest judge. I think they need to find a guest judge that knows the show very well. Someone who is very familiar with the various dancers. Someone who relates to the fans very well and knows what gets the fans of SYTYCD excited. Fox needs to find a guest judge that understands and appreciates dance, but maybe isn’t necessarily too worried about ALL the technical details of the dance either. Someone who can judge similar to how America will pick “America’s Favorite Dancer.”

Ok, really I think they should just invite me to be a guest judge on the show. Would be really interesting no? Of course, it would probably be even more interesting if Fox held a competition between all the various SYTYCD bloggers and let the winner of the competition be a guest judge. Wouldn’t that be cool? Only problem is that after looking at what Fox did to ruin the So You Think You Can Dance website and forums, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be able to deliver on a promotion like this. However, I’m willing to offer my services if they need some help setting it up;-)

Travis Wall Returns to So You Think You Can Dance

I, like many others, loved Travis Wall’s contemporary piece last Wednesday night. Jeanine and Jason performed this piece well and did Travis’s choreography justice. When Cat said that Travis was one of the choreographers for that night I was excited, because I felt it was about time that Travis did some choreography for the show.

Travis is an amazing dancer and we saw that in season two. He puts his heart and soul into every dance he does. Even though he wasn’t the one on the stage on Wednesday night, a part of him was. One of my favorite solos he did on the show was Blower’s Daughter. That one sticks out in my mind for one reason; it was the first time his mother was able to be at the show. He said it that night that it is because of he mother is the reason why he dances. I think it I safe to say that Travis has a long career ahead of him and maybe even an Emmy nomination.

I want to thank Travis too. It was because of his piece that we were reminded why Jason was chosen to be a part of the top 20. I can’t wait to see his group piece that he is working on.

Travis proved his talent yet again this week with his group routine. He only had a short amount of time to put it together. However you wouldn’t know it from watching the performance. At first I wasn’t too crazy about the costuming, that is till the light went off. I love the creativity with the lights on the costumes; it gave the rave party feel to the dance. Ellen was very clever on taking credit helping Travis with the costumes and her different light suggestions. Thanks to twitter I know he was stressing about getting the routine done, but he pulled it off. It takes talent to be able to do what he did this week.

Looking forward to seeing him dance on the show again, the bench routine will always be one of my favorites. Then there is Ramalama and this time Wade will be dancing with them…so yes I can’t wait for tonight.

Dance is one of my biggest passions. I grew up dancing at Augusta West Dance Studio (the same studio that Kathryn McCormick). I have a BFA in theatre/dance from Valdosta State University. Tap is my favorite style of dance.

So You Think You Can Dance 2009 on Ellen

Mark, Katee, Courtney, Kherington, Josh, and Gev headed on to the Ellen DeGeneres show to celebrate the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance season 5. What a great way to start So You Think You Can Dance 2009. Nice to see a bunch of familiar faces as well:

Man, I fogot how much I loved Kherington. This video didn’t have enough Kherington for me. Not to mention Josh and Katee together. That was beautiful and cute little Courtney was great too. Let’s hope season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance is just as amazing.
