Top 8 Results Thoughts and Discussion

My live thoughts and yours, too. Excited to see what All-Stars we’ll have next week. I just realized that Jaimie Godwin was supposed to be an All-Star this week and I guess she was replaced by Allison. I must’ve missed something – did they explain why Jaimie wasn’t on last night? Maybe they’ll say something tonight.

LOOOOOVED Tyce’s Top 8 routine! It’s routines like this that remind me what he’s capable of and make me even more annoyed with his lackluster choreo. It had hints of Wade and Sonya and was just so fun and cool and was a great opportunity for the dancers (especially Jess, as the ringmaster).

I also love Cat’s dress, especially the sleeves. Gorgeous.

Rob Marshall really nailed it when he said that SYTYCD puts dancers back in the center of attention, rather than in the background. That’s what I love about the show, too. Or at least part of it.

It’s cruel that they went to break without saying which of the four girls is in the bottom! Fine, keep us on edge, but soooo mean to the dancers.

Spoiler space for the rest…

Well, I was right about the girls. Melanie and Sasha are safe and Caitlynn and Jordan are in the Bottom Four.

Oh my gawd, I almost lost it watching that little clip of Marko’s mom hugging him backstage. I think he almost lost it too, judging by his face when they went to him on stage. Not surprised Marko’s safe and Jess is in the bottom, but I have to say I loved Jess peeling off his shit as he strolled off stage. Okay, I kinda like him a tiny bit more and more each week. ๐Ÿ™‚

I *am* surprised that Rickey is safe and Tadd is in the Bottom 4, but maybe I shouldn’t be after some of your comments lately that he seems arrogant. I don’t see it myself, but apparently enough people do to put him in danger.

LXD always makes my day. It was nice to see Christopher Scott dancing on the SYTYCD stage, too. And, am I crazy or was that Ashley Galvan in the line of dancers?

The National Dance Day segment was really fun.

Jordan’s solo was her best, I think, but the leg extensions were still prominent, of course. Jess’s solo was full of character and entertaining. BUT, I thought Caitlynn really danced her best solo yet and that it was better than Jordan’s. I hope the judges agree and keep her! Tadd’s was clearly the best, full of character and performance. Love the song, love the tricks, love the whole attitude. He has some of the best solos.

Liked Lady Gaga’s performance, but most especially seeing Mark dancing with her so prominently.

Whew! Glad Caitlynn is safe. I thought Nigel was really respectful and nice to give such a positive build up to cutting Jordan. I’m surprised the judges could bear to cut Jess, but Tadd really earned it with his solo. He threw everything he had onto that stage.

The goodbye sequences made me realize two things
-I liked some of Jordan’s performances more than I remember (the bed hip hop with Tadd namely)
-I warmed up to Jess right as he was leaving.

They never announced the All-Stars for next week. Hmmm….

What do y’all think??

Introducing Your Season 8 All-Stars

Tonight’s Top 10 episode is going to rock, not least of which because it’s the first time we’ll see the Top 10 dance with the All-Stars.

First, we have Melody Lacayanga, the Season 1 runner-up. I chose her disco with SYTYCD Canada judge/choreographer Blake McGrath because I don’t normally go for disco and this Doriana Sanchez disco was fun. I didn’t watch Season 1, but looking back over the season, it seems like Melody’s partners tended to get eliminated a lot. I hope this doesn’t happen to her Season 8 partners!

Allison Holker from Season 2 was an All-Star last season and had some phenomenal routines. I’m going to resist my urge to find videos from last season and instead give you something from her original season. Here is her Alex da Silva Argentine tango with her original partner Ivan Koumaev.

Pasha Kovalev was also an All-Star from last season and I am NOT going to show you the phenomenal tango he did with winner Lauren Froderman. No, I am NOT. I’m going to stick with first seasons and show you him “out of his element,” dancing Mandy Moore jazz with Sara von Gillem.

Yet another All-Star from last season, Twitch Boss was originally the runner-up from Season 4. Chelsie Hightower, who was also from Season 4, was scooped up by DWTS along with Lacey Schwimmer, danced this fun Nappytabs hip hop with Twitch during their season.

Comfort Fedoke, also from Season 4 and also an All-Star last season, also danced with Twitch. Instead of showing you that video, I’m going to show you dancing with Mark Kanemura, Chelsie’s partner for most of the season, in another awesome Nappytabs hip hop.

Brandon Bryant was the runner-up of Season 5. I so want to show you his Wade Robson jazz with Janette, but Margaret showed that video in her All-Star post (same reason I didn’t show Pasha & Sara’s West Coast Swing). So instead, I’ll show you their Dave Scott hip hop, where they were both “out of their comfort zones.”

As an All-Star last season, Kathryn McCormick danced so much with Robert that I could just give you one video for both of them. However, let me show you Kathryn in her Season 6 glory (she came in 3rd), especially since her season didn’t get their own tour. So here she is, with runner-up Jakob Carr in a contemporary routine choreographed by Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden.

Season 7’s Robert Roldan (3rd in his season) has already danced once in Season 8, with Caitlynn Lawson, so he was already an All-Star as far as I was concerned. Because the All-Stars started at Top 20 last season, most of his dances are with Kathryn or another All-Star. I wanted to show you his Dee Caspary contemporary with winner Lauren Froderman, but it wouldn’t embed. Instead, I’ll show you their Dmitri Chaplin (Season 2 and DWTS) samba because it’s fun and they were both out of their element.

Chelsie’s only going to be an All-Star for tonight’s episode and it sounds like they may switch up the All-Stars from week to week. It’ll be interesting to see who else they bring on board and all of the great routines that result. Also, I haven’t ever seen it confirmed, but Allison and Twitch may be dating and it’ll be interesting to see them together as All-Stars again. Also, I’m dying to see our Georgia peaches, Kathryn and Season 8’s Melanie Moore dance together. You know what else I’d love to see? I’d love to see a current contestant dancing with an All-Star and choreographed by another SYTYCD alumni. That would be awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

Are they any Season 8 contestant/All-Star pairings you’re dying to see?

SYTYCD rumblings

What a great show last night!! I sprinkled my thoughts here and there on other posts but overall I was really impressed. I thought I’d bring you all a smattering of SYTYCD news that I’ve seen over the past couple of weeks. Much of it comes from our friends at Entertainment Weekly

*added 6/24
I haven’t had the chance to read some of your comments about the results last night, but Kate Ward, a writer at EW.com has written an article aptly titled, “SYTYCD results make fans angry. you won’t like them when they’re angry”

I have to admit, I was pretty annoyed to see them keep Ryan after her abysmal “dance for your life”. I was watching the live feed online and it shorted out so I missed Missy’s and Iveta’s but from what I’ve heard Iveta’s was better. I saw all the guys and I thought Ricky really made his case to stay, his solo was great. Frankly, it’s not his fault Ryan seems to rather look at the camera and mug than connect with him. One of the posters recommended that they should have let all three girls and one of the boys go and kept Nick and Ricky or Nick and Wadi. I agree that Nick had a great personality and I would have loved to have seen him do contemporary with his long limbs to really see what he can do.

thoughts on this? I think it’s pretty interesting…

————

They’ve recently released their list of the 25 greatest SYTYCD performances of the past 7 seasons.

25. Kathryn and Ryan’s cha-cha (Season 6)
24. Pasha and Sara’s “Rockafella Skank” (Season 3)
23. Lauren and Twitch’s “My Chick Bad” (Season 7)
22. Lacey and Kameron Week 1 (Season 3)
21. Jakob and Ashleigh’s “Hit Me With a Hot Note” (Season 6)
20. Tranji’s “Gyrate” (Season 2)
19. Melody and Nick’s “All That Jazz”
18. Ellenore and Jakob’s “Tore My Heart”
17. Jeanine and Jason “If It Kills Me”
16. Brandon and Jeanette’s Disco
15. Katee and Joshua’s Bollywood
14. Jaimie and Hok’s “Hummingbird and the Flower”
13. Robert and Allison’s “Fix You”
12. Brandon and Jeanette’s “Ruby Blue”
11. Chelsie and Mark’s “Bleeding Love”
10. Ade and Billy’s “Mad World”
9. Danny and Lacey’s “Hip Hip Chin Chin”
8. Allison and Ivan’s “Why”
7. Kayla and Kupono’s “Addiction (Gravity)”
6. Heidi and Benji’s “Black Mambo”
5. Allison and Alex’s “Hallelujah”
4. Neil and Sabra’s “80’s Power Lunch (the table dance)”
3. Travis and Heidi’s “The Bench”
2. Katee and Joshua’s “No Air”
1. Alex and Twitch’s “Outta Your Mind”

This is a pretty stellar list, I must say, but there are a few glaring omissions. Where is Will and Katee’s spectacular pas de deux from season 4? Or Kayla and Max’s incredible WEEK 1 samba from season 5? I know this doesn’t include solos, but I don’t think anyone has topped Blake’s amazing solo from top 6 week in season 1, I’ve rewound it 100 times at least and still can’t figure out how he switches directions in his back handspring!

any other routines that didn’t make the cut?

All things Twitter

Thanks to John I was able to tweet live tonight from the @puresytycd twitter for those of us that watch on the east coast. I have to say it’s hard to tweet and follow along with the audition show, because there is so much info packed into them. Though I will do my best to keep up and will end my tweets with either my name or just simply with an A, so you will know it’s me and not John. Hope you guys will enjoy it.

Twitter has been a great way to keep up with my favorite alumni, judges, and choreographer. It’s fun to see some of the conversations between the dancers and some of them tweet as they watch the show too. I have my favorites and tweeted many of them and even gotten a few replies. I have gotten replies from Benji, Lil’ C, Adam Shankman and Mark. I have to say Mark’s reply kinda made my day. So I was wondering if any of our readers have gotten replies from any of your favorites, let us know…I would love to hear about it.

Let The Season 7 Tour Begin

The dancers of season 7 officially kick off their tour in New Orleans tomorrow night to a sold out crowd (Although you can still buy SYTYCD tour tickets in other cities). Paying attention to the tweets of the dancers, I say they are anxious to get the tour started. Unfortunatley I have to wait till the 27th to see the show but I can’t complain too much because I have third row seats. As always I am so looking forward to the show. I haven’t missed a tour show since they started touring in season two. So I got to thinking about how many of our readers will be going to tour for the first time, and trust me you will enjoy the show. This time I have a feeling we will see more new dances compared to other tours. Mainly because they have to work in Russell into the tour but still should see many of our favorite routines. I can’t wait to see if some of my favorite dances make it into the show but I am also looking forward to the skits. Though I don’t think they can top the Russian skit from season five (if you don’t know what I am talking about surf youtube for it). Anyways I thought I would share some info for those who haven’t been to a tour.

First make sure if you want any tour mechandise get it before the show starts or during the intermission so you can get a good spot for the meet and greet after the show. I recomend the program, it has great pictures and short Q&A with each dancer. Second you are allowed to have a small camera(non professional) but you can’t use the flash. The flash can affect the dancers while they are dancing. Thrid bring extra batteries just in case, I learned that lesson during the season four tour. I almost didn’t get a picture with Mark because of that but thankfully I was able to save up just enough and caught up to Mark and he gladly posed for one with me. Lastly if you stay for the meet and greet know that they will take their time and make sure they get meet all of their fans.

Here are some of my pictures with some of my favorite dancers.

SYTYCD Season 7 Finale Part 2 Music

Well…on the discussion post, I said that I might have to flip back and forth between the SYTYCD finale and the first Saints pre-season game. Well, the good news is that I won’t have to flip back and forth. The bad news is that my local FOX channel has pre-empted the SYTYCD finale in order to show the first Saints pre-season game. I won’t be able to see the show till 10:30 local time.

You have to understand that little else matters in New Orleans during football season. We love our Saints. Though, I’m a little ticked off with them at the moment.

My mom lives in Atlanta, so she’s gonna help me out with the music. If you can see the show and would like to help me, please do. ๐Ÿ™‚

Season 7: A Look at the Highs (and Lows)

Hi all!! I can’t believe we’re just a few hours away from the last performance show of the season!! I’m here to add my thoughts on the highs and lows of Season 7 SYTYCD. I was reading Entertainment Weekly online last night and they have a post up now, “So You Think You Can Dance: 10 Ways to Improve It”. I’m gonna play off that, plus add some of my highlights and lowlights from the season.

Highlight: The Opening Number
Wade Robson, tragically absent this season, created a visual and aesthetic masterpiece. We were able to see glimpses of the incredible array of dancers and their talents. It was difficult to distinguish who was who at some points, there were 23 dancers on the stage, but it was quite a sight to see.

Lowlight: First three eliminated–all girls
One of the things I was looking forward to the most when I heard about the All-Stars was seeing Twitch, Neil, Ade, Mark, Dom, and Pasha dancing again. Fast forward three weeks, and the likelihood of that happened had drastically dropped when the numbers were 6 male contestants and 2 girls. Alexie, Cristina, and Melinda were beautiful dancers, but they didn’t connect with the audience. I think poor Alexie was done in by less than stellar choreography, and I think the judges may have reached a little putting Cristina and Melinda in the top 11. Nevertheless, it was troubling to see three girls get knocked off so fast.

from EW.com:
PUT THE POWER BACK INTO THE VIEWERS’ HANDS

As host Cat Deeley regularly reminds us, SYTYCD is the search for ”America’s favorite dancer.” So why was America’s voice stifled for so long during season 7? SYTYCD’s old format actually worked perfectly: The judges exerted their control for the first five weeks of competition โ€” ensuring that dancers who deserved a second chance outlasted those unable to measure up โ€” then left the rest up to the audience. But this season, viewers had their hands tied until top four. The judges already have plenty of time to have their say (see: previous slide), so let us have ours againโ€ฆearlier!

Highlight: Alex and Twitch’s hip hop
File this under the category of WOW. When I heard Alex was gonna be doing hip hop with Twitch, I was nervous for him. We didn’t see him do it in Vegas (I don’t think) so I had no idea what was going to happen. Needless to say, I had to surgically remove my jaw from the floor after watching that routine. Who knew that Alex would have a break out moment doing hip hop?!

Lowlight: Injuries, Injuries, Injuries!
It’s amazing that we’ve gone 7 seasons WITHOUT having a serious injury. Granted, Jessica from S4 did have to leave, but she was able to tour with her season when her rib healed. I felt so sad for Alex, because he was just started to scratch the surface on the show. Our thoughts are with him as he recovers.

From EW.com (I sort of agree with this one, not 100%)
GIVE US, YES, FEWER DANCES

With such a talented crop of contestants every year, it seems crazy to ask for fewer dance numbers on SYTYCD. But if season 7 proved anything, it’s that stellar choreographers often lose their touch when faced with the feat of creating a countless number of routines for the contestants. (Can you remember more than one Sonya dance?) And that hectic schedule is not only tough on choreographers, but the dancers as well โ€” executing nearly four routines per week left many season 7 contestants sidelined with injuries. So let’s give them a (non-injury-induced) break, shall we? After all, the show is called So You Think You Can Dance, not So You Thought You Could Dance Before You Got Injured on a Reality Show.

Highlight: Cat standing up for the dancers
As you guys have probably read, I wasn’t AdeChike’s biggest fan, but I certainly liked him as a dancer and he seemed like a really nice guy. He didn’t deserve a lot of the bashing he took this season. Granted, some of it was necessary (Adam’s comments about him needing a looser center for African Jazz, I totally understood that), but some of it wasn’t (Mia: “I’m missing Alex Wong now. Hard). I was so happy to see Cat stand up for him after that Bollywood number, she really shows how invested she is in these dancers, how much she loves them.

from EW.com
SHORTER JUDGE CRITIQUES

Hey, I’ll concede that it’s tough to put on a two-hour show. But it’s also tough to maintain interest in said two-hour program when the majority of the airtime is dedicated to the judges’ critiques. (Especially when the contestants are only on stage for short, two-minute routines.) The dancers are the stars of the series โ€” not a panel of judges more focused on thanking the choreographers than praising the contestants. You know the phrase: Keep it simple!

Highlight: Allison and Kathryn
These 2 girls took on an incredible number of routines this season. They danced almost every week, sometimes twice in one week with different partners. The best thing about them was that you could tell they were always there for their partners, 100%. Even when Allison was dancing with Josรฉ, who, let’s face, she danced circles around, we could look into her eyes and see her commitment to him. I’m not taking anything away from the other All-Stars, they’re all amazing at what they do and a major asset to SYTYCD, but these two girls are my MVPs.

Lowlight: The judging
What can I say? I fastforwarded through a lot of the comments this year b/c they either didn’t make sense or they just went on FOREVER. Mia’s a great choreographer, but I kinda can’t stand her as a judge. Her noises and made up words made her sound uneducated, like that’s the best you can come up with while praising (or critiquing) someone’s dancing. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but…bring back Mary!!

From EW.com
BRING BACK MARY

With all due respect to Mia, the panel already has two industry vets who can wax poetic about technique. What was missing on the panel during season 7 was a healthy dose of crazy. (And what was missing on the stage this year was some Mia Michaels choreography.) Sure, Mary Murphy has all but ensured that SYTYCD fans will give the hearing aid industry a boost in 20 years, but we’ve missed being able to board the hot tamale train. Or crazy train, whatever.

Highlight/Lowlight: Getting reintroduced to the All-Stars via Classic Routines/Not getting to see everyone dance routines
This could have been amazing, and it kind of was. Getting to see “The Garden” “Forever” “Night of the Dancing Flame” and Anya/Pasha’s audition number was fantastic. Not only did we get to see these classic routines again, but we got to see how much these dancers have improved since their seasons. After those routines were over, the dances stopped! What about Ade, Kathryn, Dominic and Allison?! Four incredibly talented dancers who have memorable dances of their own. Why not show the routines on the big screen, then have the dancer do a solo on stage. That way, we could have seen the routines (most likely, “This Woman’s Work” “Fear” or “At this Moment” “Make it Work” and “Why”) but also gotten to see the dancers do a solo.

Highlight: “Boogie Shoes”/”Mad World”
Finally, Billy Bell got a breakout routine!! This was one of my favorite routines of the season and I’m excited to see it on tour. We finally got to see Billy loosen up and have some fun. He got the groove of the dance. With Mad World, everything just came together. Stacey Tookey has really elevated herself into that elite group of choreographers on the show with this number. Billy was fantastic.

Highlight: Robert’s Week 8
My pick for the win, he had an incredible week. Both dances were top notch, and everything just worked. I was so happy to see him make the finale, because his growth over the season is really starting to culminate at the right time.

Lowlight: the stage, again
Getting rid of the annoying screen from last season definitely helped, but not totally. When the camera hit the lights at certain angles, it sometimes washed out the dancers. The solution that really needs to happen…

From EW.com:
RETURN TO A SMALLER STAGE

In 2009, SYTYCD announced two big changes: The series would boast a new fall season โ€” which would take place on a much larger stage. Unfortunately, both ideas flopped. Though the producers wisely ditched a fall season after it proved to be unpopular, the expansive, impersonal stage remains, frustrating viewers who prefer an intimate dance experience. Remember, Nigel & Co.: Bigger isn’t always better!

Here are a couple of other ideas from EW.com that I really like:
HAVE THE DANCERS PERFORM CLASSIC ROUTINES
For every ”The Bench” routine on SYTYCD, there’s a ghastly disco dance. So instead of reaching in order to showcase new choreography, why not allow one contestant a week to perform a classic, well-known dance number? Sure, they’ll never measure up to the legends that made the routines famous. Still, after seeing Kent ace a Spencer Liff Broadway routine this season, who wouldn’t want to see what he could do with, say, Singin’ in the Rain’s ”Make ‘Em Laugh”? gusty, but could be fabulous

TAKE A PAGE FROM IDOL โ€” RECRUIT SOME GUEST MENTORS!
Sure, great choreographers like Sonya Tayeh, Mia Michaels, and Wade Robson (who’s been tragically MIA during season 7) already act as mentors by default for the SYTYCD contestants. But the show could use a new jolt of star power. Not only would contestants welcome the weekly guidance of some legendary dancers, like, say, Alvin Ailey’s Judith Jamison (pictured) or American Ballet Theater’s Ethan Stiefel, but any dance fan would also be fascinated to hear icons share their tricks of the trade. And think of the results-show guest performances we all saw how excited AdeChike was to be dancing for Dwight and Desmond, this could be really cool. Plus, Ethan Stiefel is better known as Cooper Nielsen from the dance movie Center Stage, and I, for one, would LOVE to see him on SYTYCD!

okay guys, these are my thoughts. Agree? Disagree? Fire away!!

SYTYCD 7: All Star Dancer Analysis

Every twelve hours for the next few days up until the day of the show after this post there will a post devoted to each of the Top 4 as well as some additional information…

But before talking about the Top 4 Dancers, let’s look at the All Stars this season and what I would like to see happen with the All-Stars in what could potentially be their last week as All-Star partners…

So now that seven weeks have gone by lets take a look at the All-Stars and what they have been asked to do on the show thus far (in regards to the performance shows… not the results shows)

Towards the bottom of the post there is a poll asking which of the following All-Stars would you like to see in the upcoming performance show (provided that the format won’t change).

Allison Holker
– Week 1: Contemporary w/ Alex Wong
– Week 2: Contemporary w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 3: Jazz w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 4: INJURY
– Week 5: Contemporary w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 6: Contemporary w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 7: Broadway w/ Lauren Froderman

Allison has danced with everyone… and has been dancing almost every week (would have been every week had it not been for her injury). So if she’s to dance this week I would love to see her work with Kent again, maybe something cultural. Otherwise, give this girl a break… ๐Ÿ™‚

Anya Garnis
– Week 1: ChaCha w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 2: Argentine Tango w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 3: Samba w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 4: INJURY
– Week 5: Salsa w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 5: Jive w/ Billy Bell
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: ChaCha w/ Kent Boyd

The problem with Ballroom is that it is very rare to see a same sex dance. Male/Male Paso Doble is the easiest one to extrapolate, but what about Female/Female? I would love to see a pairing with her that would involve a Viennese Waltz or a Rumba.

Dominic Sandoval
– Week 1: NONE
– Week 2: Lyrical HipHop w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 3: NONE
– Week 4: HipHop w/ Ashley Galvan
– Week 5: Breaking w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: NONE

Poor guy, he’s one of many male dancers that have only danced three times in this competition. Should there be a hiphop routine it usually goes to Twitch as a oppose to Dominic. He’s a sweetheart, so why not put that sweetness to work with a hiphop routine with another sweet guy like Kent!

Lauren Gottlieb
– Week 1: Broadway w/ Billy Bell
– Week 2: Broadway w/ Alex Wong
– Week 3: HipHop w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 4: Contemporary w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 5: NONE
– Week 6: Jazz w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 7; NONE

My, isn’t she a popular one amongst the men? This is easy, pair her up with Kent Boyd. He has already done Broadway with Neil and HipHop with Comfort, Jazz with Courtney, Allison and Kathryn… the only times he has done Contemporary is with his fellow competitors… so why not a Contemporary piece with Lauren? It could be a story about Kent finding out that Lauren’s been going around with other men (as evidence of the fact that most of the guys are swooning over her) and she tries to keep him to her.

Neil Haskell
– Week 1: Contemporary w/ Ashley Galvan
– Week 2: NONE
– Week 3: Broadway w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 4: NONE
– Week 5: Broadway w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: NONE

A great talent that is woefully underused. Unfortunately with the women getting more work than the men, the men are tied up doing male/male routines, which is fine by me. This is a dancer that needs to be used more often! And when I say more often, I’d like to see a Neil/Adechike routine. They are both very strong and athletic dancers… just think of the tricks that could come out of these two!

Pasha Kovalev
– Week 1: Jive w/ Melinda Sullivan
– Week 2: Paso Doble w/ Cristina Santana
– Week 3: Salsa w/ Melinda Sullivan
– Week 4: ChaCha w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 5: INJURY
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: NONE

Awww Pasha, you sexy Ballroom dancer you. Without the Paso Doble there isn’t much more male/male dancing that can be done. Unless you want to do a Jive battle? or Samba battle. Ooooo how about him paired up with Robert Roldan doing the Foxtrot or Viennese Waltz… wait wait wait hear me out. Between the two of them a mannequin, and they are trying to “win” the mannequin’s affections… ๐Ÿ˜€ Ok I’m a nut, so sue me.

Comfort Fedoke
– Week 1: HipHop w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 2: Krump w/ Billy Bell
– Week 3: NONE
– Week 4: HipHop w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 5: NONE
– Week 6: Lyrical HipHop w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 7: HipHop w/ Jose Ruiz

So which dancers have yet to be had by Comfort? ROBERT! Geez I’ve been using him a lot lately. Though, a Lauren/Comfort piece would be very very interesting too… Lauren is full of personality and Comfort knows how to bring the funk. I think this would be another female/female pairing that could go right for once.

Mark Kanemura
– Week 1: Jazz w/ Cristina Santana
– Week 2: Jazz w/ Ashley Galvan
– Week 3: NONE
– Week 4: NONE
– Week 5: Tahitian w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: NONE

Ah yes, Mark, another dancer that’s being woefully underused, and not his fault. I think I would like to see a Jazz or Contemporary piece between him and any of the guys. Though if it were with Robert, then it’d be kind of difficult to figure out who is who. I’m kind of scared that Mark would overshadow Kent, but that might be a challenge worth looking into… Adechike I think could keep up really really well.

Stephen “Twitch” Boss
– Week 1: HipHop w/ Alexie Agdeppa
– Week 2: NONE
– Week 3: HipHop w/ Alex Wong
– Week 4: NONE
– Week 5: NONE
– Week 6: HipHop w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 6: Steppin w/ Kent Boyd (fill in)
– Week 7: NONE

After some mini-vacations early on, Twitch jumps in with two dances in one week. He’s had the most male/male dances, but granted considering his style it’s fairly easy to have male/male dances. Me, I’d love to see some heavy chocolate so a Twitch/Adechike routine would work, or a Twitch/Robert routine would be interesting… well that and the fact that Robert has yet to do a hiphop routine… so why not toss him with Twitch and see if he would sink or swim?

Courtney Galiano
– Week 1: African Jazz w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 2: Jazz w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 3: Jazz w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 4: Jazz w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 5: Broadway w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: Jazz w/ Adechike Torbert

Ok folks… just to get this out of the way, Courtney is my least favorite All-Star. I never really “got” her, except in her Rumba w/ Gev, but I love ballroom in general so that’s no surprise. That being said, she’s managed a dance with every male contestant thus far, leaving Lauren… so another possible female/female pairing, but despite the other possible female/female pairings as mentioned earlier, I’m not too keen about this one happening. Though with my luck THIS would be the one that ends up happening. ๐Ÿ˜€

Ade Obayomi
– Week 1: Pop Jazz w/ Lauren Froderman
– Week 2: Contemporary w/ Melinda Sullivan
– Week 3: Contemporary w/ Ashley Galvan
– Week 4: NONE
– Week 5: NONE
– Week 6: NONE
– Week 7: Contemporary w/ Billy Bell

He’s the most classical trained dancer of the group (I believe) and his style is so strong and upright… After seeing him in a piece with Billy Bell last week I’d love to see him with any of dancers again… though I don’t think I’d would like to see him with Lauren…

Kathryn McCormick
– Week 1: Jazz w/ Adechike Torbert
– Week 2: Bollywood w/ Jose Ruiz
– Week 3: Contemporary w/ Billy Bell
– Week 4: Jazz w/ Robert Roldan
– Week 5: Disco w/ Robert Roldan (fill in)
– Week 6: Jazz w/ Kent Boyd
– Week 7: Contemporary w/ Robert Roldan

Considering she was JUST a contestant not even a year ago, it’s amazing to see how much work is being thrown at her, not that she minds apparently. She has danced with everyone thus far (with the exception of Lauren) and has danced every week… I think it’s high time that she gets a break. What do you think?

So there you go, a quick update of what the all-stars have been up to on the show and what I would like to see for the upcoming week. Granted, not all of them would come to pass… but they are preferences on some level… it’ll be interesting to see how many of them would come to pass.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)
