Over on SYTYCD Season 4 contestant and Dancing with the Stars professional Chelsie Hightower’s website, there’s a gorgeous photo shoot by Manuel Palacios with Chelsie and SYTYCD Season 2 (and DWtS alum) dancer Dmitry Chaplin.
Check out my favorite photo from the 70+ options, below. And make sure you check out all the photos, including the spectacular shots of the two dancers and a handy tree branch at the end.
Dmitry’s in my Top 10 All-Stars, but I didn’t include Chelsie, cause I assumed her commitment to Dancing with the Stars would keep her out of the running. I’d love to see her back, as she’s always been one of my favorites.
So yesterday was a typical Monday night and I just finished watching the Bachelor special. Nothing else was on that was worth watching, so I settled on watching Celebrity Fit Club on Vh1. About half way through the show, the Harvey(the trainer) had set up something fun for the celebs to do after their challenge. However it turned out to be a dance contest with a very special judge. That judge was the one and only Joshua Allen, winner of SYTYCD season 4, not that I needed to be told that. Of course Joshua showed off his dance moves and it reminded me why he won. So the celebs face off against each other, the final two were Kevin Federine(who is a dancer) and Kaycee Stroh(High School Musical 1-3). In the end Joshua named Kaycee the winner. Vh1 is always repeating their shows so if you missed it, don’t worry you can see it again and understand why Kaycee won. It was reall nice to see Joshua dance again, which makes me even more excited for Step Up 3 to hit theatres.
Speaking of movies I was watching a few this weekend and learn a few new things that I didn’t know. She’s All That has a really great dance number in the prom scene. This particular dance number was choreographed by Adam Shankman and Brian Friedman was one of the dancers in the movie. The other movie, Lil C was featured in Center Stage: Turn It Up. I didn’t realize he was in the movie till I saw his name in the credits. So of course I had to go back to the club scenes to find him and see him krump. Just wanted to share with everyone and to start blogging again so I’m not so rusty when the new season airs this summer. Until then don’t forget to look out for more SYTYCD alum on new episodes of Glee.
Dance is one of my biggest passions. I grew up dancing at Augusta West Dance Studio (the same studio that Kathryn McCormick). I have a BFA in theatre/dance from Valdosta State University. Tap is my favorite style of dance.
This is a Twitter round-up, of sorts, cause a few of our favorite dancers have Tweeted about what they’re up to lately. Here you go:

Rickey.org just posted some great pictures from the Dizzy Feet event in LA that happened Nov. 29th. It included the 5Alive kids as well as stars from DWTS (including S3’s Lacey) and ABDC (with S1’s Ryan and S3’s Hok and Dominic). Thanks Rickey for posting this, man I wish I could have been there!
DIZZY FEET CELEBRATION OF DANCE
here’s an interview with Qwest, with most of the questions aimed at D-Trix (Dominic) he’s awesome!
dances done included “No Air”, “If It Kills Me”, and “Addiction” as well as Ade and Melissa’s Breast Cancer routine, as well as performances from Cheryl and Derek from DWTS and Lacey’s samba with Lance Bass from S7 of DWTS. Qwest rocked it out, as did the three leading ladies from the Step Up films, as introduced by their male counterparts.
So I don’t know about you guys, but I watched the “Bootylicious” routine a TON looking for S4’s Kherington, Comfort, and Katee. With all that hair whipping around I couldn’t find them. Luckily the folks at Fox helped us out by doing a “Behind the Choreography” on this clever routine. Looks like it was Fox’s idea to put in the girls from S4. I have one question though, where from Lauren from S3?! She’s been in more than one routine from Glee (look for her in the infamous “Rehab” routine from the pilot) so I was surprised not to see her.
I had some trouble finding the video on youtube of the rehab song but check out this one, it’s a copy of the song with a perfect shot of Lauren!
Hi gang –
I’m still mad about the elimination last night! Judging by how many of you have already commented, I probably don’t need a spoiler, but just in case…
I was doing something entirely different (I promise!) and I found a great video of Wade Robson’s “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” routine performed by different dancers he worked with on Cirque du Soleil/Criss Angel’s Believe, Ben Susak and Pam Chu. I guess he was working it out before he choreographed the routine on So You Think You Can Dance. Check it out and then, below, I included the video of Katee and Josh performing it for the Top 4 episode of Season 4.
Clearly, I love me some Wade Robson. So here’s a video from when he was on Dancing with the Stars, too. I kinda got addicted to the song while I was watching it (several times). If you’re curious, it’s “Hi” by PSAAP.
Last season, Kherington Payne was my favorite dancer. So, you can imagine my joy to find out that Kherington Payne had a major part in Fame. Turns out that Jason Williams from SYTYCD season 2 is also on the show. Check out the trailer which includes some really nice images of Kherington Payne, but honestly includes a lot of really talented people. I’m excited to see Fame this Fall.
I decided that during the off season of So You Think You Can Dance I’d do some flashbacks to some of my favorite dances throughout all the So You Think You Can Dance seasons.
The following is a video of Twitch and Kherington Payne’s Viennese Waltz. When I think about this season of So You Think You Can Dance, this has to be the most memorable dance of the whole season for me. Jean Marc Genereux did an amazing job with the wonderful song: A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion
