SYTYCD Australia – Officially No Longer & Congrats to Host Natalie on her Engagement

SO YOU Think You Can Dance was officially axed by Channel 10 last night – as news leaked that Aussie heartthrob Adam Garcia has been tipped to become a judge on a rival show.

Got To Dance will begin filming in Oz later this year, with plans for it to air on Fox 8. The latest TV dance comp will fill the void left by SYTYCD, which has been officially killed off after three series – just as we reported last month.

A Ten spokeswoman told us: “We have officially decided not to go ahead with So You Think You Can Dance Australia for 2011 but continue discussions with FremantleMedia Australia regarding the show’s future beyond this point.”

Currently a judge on the popular British version of Got To Dance, Garcia is tipped to headline the local version while he’s in Oz to star in the upcoming stage version of Tap Dogs.

Got To Dance will follow a competition format but unlike SYTYCD, which was open to solo dancers up to 35 years of age, groups or individuals of any age can enter.

The English version has been a solid performer here in Australia for Fox 8 and a big hit for digital channel Sky1 in the UK, attracting an average of one million viewers.

An American version of the show has also been scheduled in the US.

Foxtel picked up the new dance format at the MIPTV media market conference in France earlier this year.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who hosted SYTYCD, is believed to be off contract with Ten but the network is poised to announce a similar performance project soon.

Also Congrats to Natalie who became recently engaged to her boyfriend Cameron. No news on the baby yet another month to go. Here’s the official News!

NATALIE Bassingthwaighte is sporting an eye-catching diamond sparkler after her long-time partner Cameron McGlinchey popped the question.

The engagement came last week, with the couple expecting their first child next month.

“They are delighted,” Bassingthwaighte’s spokeswoman Anna McAllan told Confidential yesterday.

“It is very recent and they arevery happy.” Bassingthwaighte and McGlinchey started dating in 2006 after meeting when Bassingthwaighte joined the electro-pop group The Rogue Traders.

“For us, it was always about the time being right,” McGlinchey said in May of parenthood. “Now the time is right. It’s an opportunity to bring something good into the world.”

Share your thoughts on the Axe of SYTYCD it’s a bit disappointing, but I don’t understand why they still have The Biggest Loser on.
