SYTYCD Season 8 Music Predictions/Suggestions
I still like my lists from Seasons 6 and 7 a lot. Reading back through them, I kept thinking, “Oooohh, that would make a good routine.” Anybody else constantly thinking, “Oh, that’d make a good SYTYCD song” whenever you hear music? What songs do that to you?
My Season 8 song list is part music that probably will feature on the show this season and songs I think should be on the show. Check it out:
1. Beyonce’s new single, “1+1” –
2. Martin Solveig ft Dragonette’s “Hello” –
3. Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” – , though it’d be interesting if it was another version, like the Glee Cast or Haley Reinhart versions.
4. Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” – is probably my favorite, but “Day ‘n’ Night” – would make a great routine as well.
5. The Like’s “He’s Not a Boy” –
6. The Script’s “For the First Time” –
7. Nicki Minaj’s “Moment 4 Life” –
8. Dan Mangan’s “The Indie Queens Are Waiting” –
9. Lizz Wright’s “Leave Me Standing Alone” –
10. Tinie Timpah’s “Written in the Stars” –
11. Ellie Golding’s “Guns and Horses” –
12. Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” –
13. The Generationals’ “Ten-Twenty-Ten” – (These guys are local and awesome, sound a little bit like Black Gold).
14. Alex Winston’s “Sister Wife” –
15. David Guetta ft Fergie’s “Gettin’ Over You” –
I could literally do this all day, but I have to go get ready for the big premiere. If you’re looking for more music, remember that we’ve given you tons of great music lists here over the years. At the end of the last season, I posted the Monster Music Post, a list of your favorite songs from the season, as well as other song suggestions from many of the writers here on Pure SYTYCD.
I just heard the intro “theme song” music for Game of Thrones the other day and thought that would be good music to choreograph and dance to.
Britney Spears- Till The World Ends
That’s the only one I can think of off the top of my head with out going through my music.
@CarlaG: It’s by Arnold Nesis, the theme song. But I haven’t been able to locate a link yet. I’ll keep an eye out. Thanks for the suggestion.
I just saw the movie “Something Borrowed” and the soundtrack is AMAZING (wayyy better than the movie, though there is some serious eye candy in it, haha). the highlights for me were “the longer i run” by peter bradley adams and “a little too much” by natasha bedingfield.
my other one would be from dave barnes, “on a night like this” , would make a BEAUTIFUL contemporary piece.
Leona Lewis – Shatter -or- A Thousand Lights
Florence & The Machine- I’m Not Calling You a Liar
Katy Perry – ET
@Margaret: I love all your suggestions. I’m gonna have to buy the soundtrack (though I haven’t seen the movie and I’m sad to know you didn’t think it was very good).
@Amy: I couldn’t find those Leona Lewis songs in iTunes, not even the UK version. I agree wholeheartedly with the Florence & the Machine tune and it’s not impossible since the choreographers love F&TM. I HATE the song “E.T.,” so I hope they don’t choreograph to it, but I wouldn’t be surprised…
sorry, didn’t mean to spoil it for you! it’s definitely a GREAT girls night out movie, it’s because I’ve read the book that I felt that way about the movie.
another suggestion I was thinking about was anything from the group Boyce Avenue. they do a lot of covers but they give them a really cool contemporary pop feel. I particularly love their version of taylor swift’s “last kiss”
here’s a link to the video, it’s a duet with a girls group named “Megan and Liz”
@ Emilie
The Leona Lewis tracks have not been released yet, I listened to the demos on youtube, they will be on her new album ‘Echo’, I’m not sure of the release date, hopefully sometime before Top 20.
I am a huge Florence & The Machine fan, so I hope they use them throughout the season!!
I immediatley picture a Sonya routine when I hear E.T.! haha You should check out Tyler Ward’s cover of E.T. , I like it alot better than the original.
I may be biased because the dude who is Hussle Club is an old buddy from grade school and high school, but I think this is a perfect Sonya Tayeh song. 🙂
Well, this and maybe Loose Tights too.
I applaud the person who said the Game of Thrones theme song.
